First of all, apologies for the delay. I had the intention of publishing the overview much earlier and started working on it few weeks ago, but then some unforeseen circumstances limited my forum use to mobile phone almost exclusively (and even that was pain in the ass). Anyway, everything has been sorted now so I was finally being able to finish and publish April's overview of the local boards activity. As always, all charts and table are made using data from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space.

Communities marked with * (Pakistan, Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards but I do hope that will change in the near future.

Happy to see this!

Sadly, Brazilian board still the on the "top" smaller merit/post ratio.
I would definitely want another merit source there...

Here you go, the locals boards race!!!

That would have been a pleasant experience compared to what I've been through. Cheesy

Nigerain board is doing amazing with activity and merit sharing, they are holding second place, so it was a right decision to create their local board few months ago (I think).
Yep, they are doing great but I think they got their board a little bit longer than few months ago, iirc it was sometimes at the end of 2022. I hope theymos will see it as a proof that it would be worth to create few more local threads as forum can only benefit it from it.

I think next month SirJohnVeganSlotty is going to be most active member in our local board.
I think so too, slackovic is slacking too much.

Post activity per local board during April 2024

In the above mentioned period, 17438 posts were written across 18 local boards/threads, which is a solid decrease compared to month before (20804). That decrease is pretty much spread across majorify if not all local boards, with of course more active boards like Russian/Nigerian/Turkish/Indonesian being resposnsible for the majority of it.

Since summer is coming and people will have better things to do I don't expect big increase next month but let's wait and see, maybe we get surprised.

Local boards post race

Courtesy of bitmover

Active members per local board during April 2024

During last month, 1423 members wrote at least 1 post in one of the local boards, which is a decrease compared to month before during which 1553 members were active. Given the decerase of the number of posts, this is something that was expected and not a surprise. Once again this decrease is spread among majrity of local boards, while Russian remained by far the most active one with Nigerian holding the 2nd spot.

Local board members per amount of posts during April 2024

When it comes to the members who wrote only 1 post, Romanian board is leader with basically 2/3 (67%) of such members, follwoed by Indian (56%) and Spanish (54%) local boards. At the same time, Pakistan local thread had the lowest percentage of such members (only 7%), followed by Nigerian (17%) and Indonesian (22%) local boards.

In the 2-9 posts bracket leader is Indonesian local board with 47%, followed closely by Russian (46%) and German (45%) local boards. At the bottom there is Romanian local board with only 11% of such members, followed by Spanish (27%)  and Portuguese (28%) local boards.

Regarding the 10+ posts bracket, Pakistan local board is the leader with 55% of those members, followed by Portuguese (43%) and Nigerian (41%) local boards. At the same time, Polish local board has the lowest percentage of such members (only 10%), followed by Indian (12%) and Spanish (20%) local boards.

Merit shared per local board during April 2024

Despite the big decrease in the amount of posts compared to month before, number of merit shared didn't drop that much; from 7058 in March to 6515 in April which makes it a solid ~7% decrease but that's not bad considering the ~16% fewer posts compared to March.

Once again Russian board is far ahead the others which indicates that they got replacement for the merit source they lost some time ago, while far behind are Nigerian and German local boards. Indonesian board used to be the 2nd but I guess those external merit sources that were helping them decreased their activity there.

Merit/Post ratio per local board during April 2024

Last month's average acorss all local boards that are part of this overview was 0.48 merit/post which is a little bit more than previous month (0.44) which makes sense considerting the fact that number oif posts went down more than the number of merit (percentage wise of course).

This time we have a new name at the top, French board with 1.2 ratio followed by usual names, Romanian and Arabic local boards and after few months we have Greek board once again on the chart, with a very solid 0.51 ratio. When it comes to the bottom, Pilipinas is once again way below everyone else with a measly 0.04 merit/post which is on par with some of the worst quality parts of the forum and somehow I doubt that's the realistic reflection of their local board quality.

Merit senders and receivers per local board during April 2024

During the above mentioned period, 513 members sent merit while 537 members received which is a decrease comparted to month before (525/629). Imho, I expected even bigger decrease consideirng the decreased amount of merit shared, but it was actually not that bad. Another big surprise is that Nigerian board even had more senders/receivers than Russian board despite having ~60% fewer merit sent and Indonesian board is not far behind either.

Percentage of merited posts across local boards during April 2024

While in March Spanish local board was the leader with a very high 43% of merited posts, this time we have a new one; Romanian board had an extremely high 60% of merited posts, followed far behind by Arabic and Spanish local boards. At the same time, Pilipinas local board was once again dead last with only ~2% of merited posts, while average for all local boards is ~19%.

Merit per transaction across local boards during April 2024

And the last in this series of charts, merit per tx. As you can see, Greek board is far ahead the others with unusually high ratio which can happen in the less active boards like theirs and can give somewhat distorted picture of what's going on in their local board and I can expect that number to be more realistic next month.

The most active members per local board during April 2024

Last but not the least in this overview, list of top 10 members across 18 local boards/threads and thanks to whom their local boards are still alive. When it comes to the most active users, totti67 from Turkish local sticks out with 298 posts, followed by oker_josue (230) from Portuguese local and one more member of Turkish board verbakalim who wrote 227 posts in his local board. GG guys, keep it up!

1.42 merit per post is impressive indeed. Looks like they have a nice community there.
Believe it or not, I think that some some merit farmers actually tried that technique, going to a local board (without speaking the language) with a good merit/post ratio and trying to get some merit that way.

@fillippone for some reason I think I saw situation like that in Italian local board. Or I am imagining things that didn't happen?

Unfortunately, the numbers for the Romanian, Greek, and Polish boards remained pretty similar to the previous months, while the Bengali numbers also keep going down month after month. I do hope they reverse this trend as it will get harder for them to get local board if numbers keep going down.
The Polish board has been really quiet lately. For small boards like that, all it takes is 1 or 2 top contributors to become inactive for all stats to take a nose-dive. And even if there are some people lurking in, when seeing low activity, they'd just move away to other parts of the forum.
Hopefully things will change at some point.

Once again Spanish local board is at the top of the merit/post chart, ands this time with even bigger ratio (...)

English language is predominantly used in the main board of Indian LB but Hindi language speakers probably over 80% of total Indian population that's why it's important that someone who is going to represent the Indian board should be familiar with the most spoken language.
Again, I don't understand why is it important to know Hindu if everyone on your local board is using English language only? I mean, I just went through your board a bit and when I look at the topic titles, all I see is English language.

I could but the problem with that is I don't understand the most spoken Language of our country the reason you may know which is I am from the southern most region. It should be someone who can understand Hindi primarily even though if they are not familiar with the regional languages.
I don't see how that can be a reason for you (or anyone else for that matter) to not apply for a merit source status since you use English language only in your local board. Or something changed there and now you use other languages as well?

Why not apply for a merit source? I am assuming that the members of the Indian local board will support you with your efforts as you have been active always on the board and always created interesting topics and engaging. It is not a big issue if you know how to apply for a merit source, this might be the first time a Senior Member becomes a merit source for the local board.

I guess so but the thing is veterans users from Indian community move to reddit platform and the remaining who are active here isn't showing much interest in engaging with the Local board discussions.

I hope we will find a replacement merit source... Roll Eyes

Now, you would say why not apply for the same. The problem is that there are so many non-Indians who acted like Indians and are now using their influence to control the board. They say they have retired or they are busy but they are still active with their alts and they can still influence the mods and encourage others to act against anyone, for example, me. Recently I have gone through that when I got temp ban. That is why I said I am not going to apply for a merit source for the local board.

I don't know what should I say, I can speak for myself. I was not active due to Ramadan and decided to leave the signature campaign as well. I just came back a few days ago and still posting in our local thread. But the fact is, the activity of our local thread has been decreasing for a while and I guess I have said this before. You may know the reason already. A couple of members who have ranked up and joined the signature campaign decided to leave the local forum because most of them just wanted to use the thread to rank up and abuse the merit. It is easier to do these things on the local board. But unfortunately, I was harsh with them which led to decreasing the activity every month. I remember all the names who have been too active in our thread and they were posting all day. Best of luck to them. Maybe will get the board without them. Or we should be happy with the local thread?

Rikafip you are doing well for this update every month. I received the mentioned and decided to visit the thread to what is going all these while and I am very much impressed that Nigeria local board is still on the second for the months active members row. And from bitmover chart Nigeria takes third meaning we are still on the high side and pushing on to the right position. We are still praying that let's have the moderator (s) and the merit sources so that we can also do well in other areas and not only on the active side.

We are very backyard in the monthly Sending and receiving of merits. But we believe all those things will be fixed soon. Keep the good work going.

@Rikafip, thanks for the update this is what I have been waiting for a while to find the current status of Indian local board since merit source announced that he withdrew from his position and there's no surprise the numbers went quite low. Indian board started to rise from bottom since last year June but now back to where it's started.
Maybe its time for someone else from your local board to apply for a merit source status?

Here is the updated race!!

That makes it difficult.
True, it makes it much easier to have those kind of numbers when Turkish board is 2x more active than Portuguese.
