Sorry for still being OT, but while we're at it (I'll stop after this, promise!): Bitstamp actually looks nice, anyone have experience with them?

Also, I would personally stay away from Gox at this point, not only are they having issues with their Fiat withdrawals but now BTC is delaying as well; l'd be wary.

I'm just looking at BTC-E and it doesn't look half as legit as Mt.Gox. There is no documentation, part of the website is in Russian only which I can't read, looking at withdrawals I can't really figure out how they work, also they say something about minimum withdrawal amounts I'll probably never have in my account (€2000?) and minimum withdrawal fees that are completely ridiculous (€100?!?). They also appear to ask for similarly weird fees on fiat deposits, and when I click on "deposit bitcoins" I just get an error message, likewise when trying to check their terms on BTC withdrawal. I don't see how I'm supposed to trust that site with my money.

Hey Smiley,
I see what you are saying, and I respect your opinion on this, you make some valid points.

The core of the issue for me though, and this should be the core with any bank or bank-like institution is access to my funds. Mt. Gox is experiencing multi-month delays on Fiat withdrawals and multi-day delays on BTC. This suggests a liquidity issue.

Going off topic a bit here, but it is my opinion, and I have expressed it elsewhere before, that the only reason there has not been a bank run on Gox yet is because they have that aura of trust mentioned, at the end of the day however, if you can't access your money, all those seals and certificates don't mean much.

I don't have anything against Gox, I just think BTC-E and Bitstamp are safer solutions at this point; 18 months ago, Gox would have been the only and most legitimate player in town; things change.

In the end it comes down to what makes you comfortable and I completely respect those still banking with Gox, my 2 cents are just that me, personally, would stay away from them.

Pablo.

I've been with BTC-e since October last year. Aside from having to use Google translate on a withdrawal confirmation page, I've got no complaints, or problems.

Hmm.. the Euro market volume has gone down to near-zero and the value is completely jittery (jumping between 695 and 685 every ~20min) while on average not moving at all, causing random, useless trades at a constant loss all the time. I, too, now switched to TSL trading by turning up all the thresholds to +50%. So after manually buying in at the low points of jitter I'm just holding - if the price rises there might be a profit, but a big drop won't cause me too much pain either if it happens while I'm asleep.

...interesting, the prices at MtGox and BTC-E are behaving completely differently, I guess that's because the market as a whole is still too small to be in any way coherent?

Yes, the EURO and GBP markets on Gox are pretty small; that is why we generally encourage people to trade in USD, alt currency markets still don't have the depth the USD market has and thus are more susceptible to flash changes.

Also, I would personally stay away from Gox at this point, not only are they having issues with their Fiat withdrawals but now BTC is delaying as well; l'd be wary.

Please let me know if you need anything at all Smiley.

beta 2.5.93 seems to be working fine.

It traded both LTC and BTC yesterday. Is reporting balances of both coins. Notifications sent. Offset on LTC backtesting is also working.

Waiting to see what happens now my stake is split 80/20 BTC/LTC when its time to buy back.

exciting

I recognize understanding of the settings is becoming an issue as our user base grows. We have a lot on our plates right now but I will make it a priority to put something together to help explain each of the settings and the effect changes on each one have on the trading strategy as a whole.

I hope this will be helpful.

hey we're in that boat too. the good ship "havent got a clue"

our settings on btce are 19/40 and returned around 8% this month and 21% since we started on the 1st dec. Of course I fully understand that a 20% return in two months is pretty good going by anyones standards but my lack of understanding of EMA leaves me wondering if we could be doing any better.

Please don't flame cause i have read the EMA thread and watched a few vids on youtube and while i understand the concept I'm struggling to use that precious little knowledge and put it into practice.

I have just released an improved version of the Beta to the closed testing group. If all goes well, we should have an open Beta version available late this week Smiley.

got the beta this morning and after a bit of backtesting it would appear that litecoin would have been more profitable since we started running the bot on the 1st dec. conservative EMA 25% BTC vs around 48% LTC. a little tweaking bought that upto 64%. So we've decided to allocate a tentative 20% of our fund to LTC. let's see how it goes.

Is the tick offset not working for anyone else using the BTC-e BTC/USD Back Testing in the LTC beta?

well the sooner you guys get it to work with CEX.IO I will pay. Til then Sorry not interested. There is a strong need for something like this with CEX!!

CEX?

Good luck with that. This bot is for bitcoin trading not GH/S trading.

Yeah, I too am having issues with the bot not updating balances...........   It sold all my LTC but still reports a balance and then it bought BTC but reports the previous balance.  Also, e-mails don't seem to be going through to Pablo when trying to report these sorts of things, dunno what happend got rejected twice now.

I've also noticed that the LTC/USD previous history doesnt refresh all the time. (when you click the extension -> LTC/USD), BTC/USD refreshes ok.  Currently my LTC/USD last entry is 13:00 whereas BTC/USD is 13:30

Edit: User error, I had override global selected for LTC and it defaults to 1hr.

Just released the Beta to all the testers! Look forward to everyone's feedback!

Pablo.

Here are my observations so far with the LTC beta.

  • Litecoin reserve shows BTC (Cosmetic)
  • If a user used Butterbot for BTC on BTC-e they can’t do LTC in the same Chrome profile.  This then raises the question how to balance FIAT for BTC against FIAT for LTC once a bot sell is completed. (currently im running BTC/BTCe in one Chrome instance and LTC/BTCe in another instance) – is this what the Fund Ratio is for?

Currently im waiting for EMA to drop below my sell threshold and then I will enable trading as if I did right now I'd make an instant loss.

What settings are you using? Because I'm down 15% with 20/42/2h. I've now set it to 20/42/30min because backtesting makes this look better over the past month, but so far the price hasn't been behaving well enough to verify that.
