Is there a way to incorporate bitcoinwisdom into butterbot for the charts?  So we could see exactly what the bot see's?  I've watched bitcoinwisdom and see the lines cross and its never traded when it's supposed to.  Its always delayed and drives me crazy.  I stopped watching it because I'm at least 30 minutes behind on the trades with 1 hour setup on butterbot, so when the bot should trade to make a profit, it instead waits and sells at a lower value than when the lines indicate it should have. This is with having - numbers in the first trade and sell slots.  I'm very interested in the TSL settings.. With those settings does the bot essentially operate as a high frequency trading bot selling at 2% loss and buying at 2% gains?  Seems more reliable than the crapshoot 1 hour sometimes might conscider nope just kidding trade settings right now.

@ Pablo

You once mentioned that ButterBot takes about 160 or 165 SMA samples to generate the first EMA value. I have tried various amounts but never seem to be able to replicate the exact same EMA values as butterbot.

Could you ask around about this?

I am compiling a Month to Month Minute accurate excel sheet to distribute on the forum so we can run various kinds of math against the past. But so far I am having a hard time replicating the ButterBot EMA samples. (I'd like it to match the real butter rather than be an approximation).

EMA diff is at -0.011% (1 BTC = 806 USD) at btce.

A sell order is imminent!

Your friendly trading bot.

disabling the bot is just so that when the bot is re-enabled it resets the high for the TSL to start from. (at least I think).

Does the TSL work even when the bot is disabled? (or is the disabled portion simply for testing?)

Hi PuertoLibre Smiley,

When Butter is disabled, everything is disabled.

You can have the same effect as keeping TSL active as well as testing but no trading by having really high threshold values, like 50 on each threshold.

Hope that helps,
  Pablo.

A few days ago my above configuration would have yielded 28K+%

but again because the backtesting engine cannot be set to a custom date range it makes developing a strategy difficult.

If you try trading EMA on those settings now you will be very disappointed in the result even though over the last year they look amazing... but we arent trading in last years market...

SO...

Back to the TSL strategy...

I think this may be working.

If you set your bot like this;

And then make sure to disable your bot...

Purchase your coins ONCE YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED YOUR ENTRY POINT (preferably at the bottom of the low before the rise, use 20/30 EMA and MACD to determine)...

Then enable your bot which will then record the high from which to start trailing.

As each new high is obtained then the stop loss will readjust (in theory).

allowing for a 2% drop from the high before selling out.

so far this seems to be pretty successful. (of course the rise in price need to be larger than 2% to be profitable)

I have tried many various configurations and I have been most successful on a 5 Minute chart with a 2% TSL.

Any brave souls that can improve on this?

I am currently testing (and perfecting) a simple Trailing Stop Loss strategy using butter-bot that should... I say... SHOULD be profitable no matter the market conditions and no matter how many people are using it.

In a few day I will post the entire layout of the strategy here so that everyone can pick it apart. Find holes and or help me make improvements to it.

Keep us all posted on your progress.

This is the best I could arrange given your ending date and general settings. (I moved to 1 hour intervals)

Over 19k,yet this setting is not suitable for the market right now.

I optimized your settings. Can someone beat my settings? (its a contest right?)

It's not, atleast for me.

All I am looking is a 'fair' setting's which could give me profit. Thats what all want (right?)

I didn't optimize it "in depth" since I was looking at 1) how to scale trades properly given a specific timeframe 2) has mostly green throughout 3) Works extremely well during a long term bear market 4) develop a simpler method for optimizing settings within 2 hours. Which is what I more or less wanted to achieve.

I took a pic at 3 months 6 months and 1 year so you can see how it performs without the prominent growth from earlier in the year.

Edit: You got 10677%...
I got...13104%

Yes I can beat those all to heck... the problem is... that those 1 Year settings wont be profitable now...

try this:

IF you backtest that from Jan 1 2013 to Dec 31 2013 you will get 19647% profit...

BUT if you try to run those same setting now you wont get nearly that...

the market has changed... EMA bots are all over...

try to modify your engine to produce profits over 1 week and then again at 1 month and balance between the two.

Is this a good setting's for use?

Not so much...

The thing you want to look at is not the profit that you WOULD have made over the past year (the market has changed significantly since then) but look at settings that give you a decent return over the last week balanced against returns over the last month, and then pay attention to those and modify them weekly (or not, just depending) just to keep them fine tuned for profit.

On the other hand I am developing a system currently with using butter-bot solely as a trailing stop loss...

I will let you know how that goes.

To use Butter as a TSL only use very high settings, like 50 (not .5, 50) on each of your thresholds so that they will never trigger and then just use TSL normally.

Please keep in mind that when TSL is triggered it shuts off Butter so you need to reset it manually afterwords.

Hope that helps Smiley.

Pablo.

So, r my setting's good at all or too much risky?

Looking forward to look it out Smiley If you want any kind of help I'm glad to.
So, as I understanded, I must look at the profit from 1 week to 1 month, and try to balance them - Because the profit that shows on image (1 year profit) is not a "real" profit since the difficulty and the prices have changed, am I correct?

Edit: I tried several settings and the max. I could get per month is around 50%... is it good?
