hey pablo,

when i click on butter bot's chrome webstore url, i get the following error:

"article not found"
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dpbjalfjaflkohagighidnjkbpmdodhb

same happens when i search for "butter bot" or "butterbot" at the google chrome webstore.

did you remove the bot from there? if so, what's your recommended way of upgrading atm?

best,
grinny

now i got a promt within the bot's overlay menu that asked me to download the new version via chrome webstore. worked fine! i had to manually transfer all settings to the new bot, but as pablo already mentioned, this has to be done only once.

Feature Request:

I like to use my BTC-e account as my savings account since the bot does better percentagewise than it would get sitting at a bank.

I'm about to take out a student loan for a sizable sum that will last the whole year. And it's going to go into my trading account & ll withdraw as needed.

The feature I want is similar to the reserves you already have, but not that the funds don't get traded. Just that they're off limits for withdrawal. Being able to define. A set amount that's not allowed to be withdrawn won't prevent one from withdrawing that amount of course, but it informs us of what amount of the account can be cashed out.

I hope I explained that clearly enough that it makes sense.

I understand the OP's concern, however, While I was testing out my trial the bot developer was very helpful and I even mentioned that I had taken a second trial to extend to two weeks.  At the end of the two weeks I received a message stating that my trial had ended and if I had any concerns or suggestions I was to reply to the message.  In two weeks you get a fair chance at turning a profit and seeing how the bot works.. One month is just giving the product away.

Nice try to bash me in order to prove your point, I was giving my opinion on ways he might turn more trial users into sales.. if you read back you can see he had no problem letting me try it out for a month.

Logic dictates if you have a product that works ideally over long periods of time a 1 week trial may not generate a positive experience to a potential customer, just sayin...

Btw OP, so far I am very happy with the product .

When you buy a new car, you get a quick test drive for a couple of hours or sometimes you're able to keep the car overnight. Sure you could do a few errands in the new car while you were test driving it, but that's not the point, it's not intended to be a means of transportation during the test drive, it's meant to be long enough to make up your mind on whether it's going to work for you and your family.

You're spending thousands of dollars on a car and you get a few hours or overnight; you're spending a hundred or so dollars on Butter Bot and you get to trial it for a week - that is more than generous.

So how about you make up your mind by reading the extensive threads on the subject and stop wasting everyone's time by sounding like a poor man begging for a month's free trial?

Are you like these guys?
Its your product so you can do what you like but here is a suggestion:

Offer a 30 day trial license instead of 1 week.

Lets look at some scenarios:

Customer A decides to try out your product for 1 week using $100 bucks on BTC-E. In that 1 week he performs several automated trades and maybe he turns a profit 1 or 2 of the days but by the end of the week he is under 100,do you think he is likely to sign up?

Customer B decides to try out your product for 1 month and using $100 bucks on BTC-E. In that 1 month he is under 100 bucks during the 1st week or so but by the end of the month he has earned a profit of about 15%, do you think he is likely to sign up?

Pablo would be insane to give a full month for free.. he's already stated multiple times that he has no problem with people extending the one week trial to two weeks if they feel so inclined and need more time to make up their mind. If he offered one month, many people will likely turn it into two months... and then anyone who paid for the three month package will be left in the cold. IMHO, if someone comes to Butter Bot and after one week expects it to make them riches, they probably don't understand EMA trading strategy and perhaps Butter Bot just isn't for them.

I disagree. I am guessing he keeps track how many times someone renews a trial license and decides when to prevent them obtaining more. If he offered a 1 month license and prevented users from renewing for another month, it would be basically the same amount of time but gives people an opportunity to actually pull a profit without having to cheat the system.

Suggest adding CampBX support.   It's the only US based one I know of, and for US folks, that's far more trustworthy  since it has to comply with US law.

Butter Bot's back-testing capabilities are great, but the results are optimised for USD which can make it difficult to compare to a buy-hold strategy.

I've put together a simulation which mimics Butter Bot's trading strategy to hopefully give everyone a better idea of 2 things:

  • The "best" short and long EMA parameters
  • The actual increases you would have seen versus buy-hold

Thus far I've only run the simulation on btc-e trades. The 1 min trade frequency simulations take a long time to complete and given my Macbook wasn't a particularly willing participant with the other simulations they're not included.

Essentially every possible combination of short/long EMA between 1-120 are included. Thresholds and tick offset have been fixed to the recommended values.

The results are contained in a number of CSV files with short EMA vertical and long EMA horizontal. The results are BTC optimised given 1BTC was invested at the start of the period. ie. a value of 1.9 means you invested 1BTC and had 1.9BTC (or USD equivalent) at the end. This is also what your return would have seen versus buy-hold.

Check out the results and enjoy Smiley

You can download the simulation results here:
http://www.sudosystems.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/ema-profit-2014-01-09.zip

Exchanges: btc-e
EMAs: 1-120 (short and long)
Test durations: 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year
Trade frequencies: 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 2 hours
Buy threshold: 0.15
Sell threshold: 0.1
Tick offset: 0
Last trade data: Wed, 08 Jan 2014 23:01:18 GMT

If you find any of this info helpful or are looking for some particular simulations feel free to donate to my trading fund:

Is anybody else having issues with the new version? I copied all my settings, but it seems no ghraps are drawn?

In addition, is it normal that I don't see my licensing information anymore? (E-mail address etc?)

Hi TNK Smiley,
No, that's not normal. Please double check your license is entered correctly; email me at [email protected] if this doesn't work and I will be happy to help you resolve this Smiley.

Pablo.

Seems to be ok now, guess I had to wait a bit Smiley

just found a setting that gives out 23,000% a year BUT it seems like you have to constantly adjust
the settings to make it match to the current market -  right?

Cuase when choosing the 23,000 settings on the last week month it doesnt look that bright...

I want to hear some real stories from butter bot users how long do you have it and what are your profits in BTC ?

I using this settings for BTC-E

Short EMA: 20 Long EMA: 30
Buy 1: 0 Buy 2: 0.1
Sell 1: 0 Sell 2: 0.15
30 minute time window
tick offset 20
(test show me - its best profit for 1week, 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, etc.)

Can any one explain to me why my bot buying BTC for 822$ and selling for 799$ >.>
Please.

EMA diff is at -0.938% (1 BTC = 839.99 USD) sell               14:39     08.01.13
EMA diff is at -0.42% (1 BTC = 818.242 USD) sell               20:31     08.01.13
EMA diff is at 0.048% (1 BTC = 829.998 USD) buy              02:51     09.01.13
EMA diff is at 0.106% (1 BTC = 822.574 USD) buy              03:51     09.01.13
EMA diff is at -0.033% (1 BTC = 800 USD) sell                   15:50     09.01.13
EMA diff is at -0.193% (1 BTC = 799 USD) sell                   16:50     09.01.13

Please read Gomboo's journal regarding EMA trading. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/goomboos-journal-60501

Basically your short and long EMA lines crossed, which triggered buys and sells. This should be expected given the market oscillations that have been occurring for the past couple days. Butter Bot is a long term trading bot, so you need to expect many of your buy/sells are going to be unprofitable in the short-term. Many pages have been written about this in the thread.
