Hasn't helped here. Look at this example:  The longpoll for the same block from pool 1 (mtred) came 22 seconds after pool 0.

There was also nothing accepted for 20 seconds which at a utility of 39 shares/minute there should be ~13 shares. The 15 rejected shares  works out to ~23 seconds of lost work.

Was noticing the same even with single gpu connected to pa.mtred.com for some namecoin goodness.

Right after LP it throws a ton of rejects so I can only assume its the server thats overloaded.

Hey, I think I just found the issue and fixed it.

Whatever you did seem to have worked for couple of hours but recently the reject dump came back.

I seem to be getting a heck of a lot more rejects across longpolls lately. There's a deathly pause where no shares are being accepted, then the longpoll hits and a ton of rejects are returned along with it.

eg:

Code:
[2012-06-15 19:56:56] Accepted 474d3cb6.ba57e09a GPU 2 pool 1
[2012-06-15 19:57:03] LONGPOLL from pool 1 detected new block

 [2012-06-15 19:57:06] Accepted 05aac654.90f7fb03 GPU 2 pool 1

I've seen up to twice as many rejects as this too.

This machine has 2.75GH on cgminer 2.4.3

edit: here's a monster one:

I didn't think the pool was prop, just thought maybe some miners still had their bitHopper on last year's pools. But if the hashrate increases aren't coincident with round starts, then it's likely as you say, a proxy using the pool as backup or gpumax.

This isn't the user I was talking about, but here is a good example.

(Top List)

So yeah, I'm sure.

Poor impulse control.
Ozcoin's hashrate increases are not coincident with the start of a round. However, looking at the MtRed hashrate chart I can't where rounds start - bitlane, are you sure the increases in hashrate are at the start of the new block?

This is a PPS Pool. The increase in hashrate is from a single user that pops on every once in awhile with 200+GH/s from what I've seen. Its a single person, most likely using this as a backup pool or a gpumax private pool.

Why does the hash rate for the pool INCREASE dramatically at the beginning of every new block ?

Its the same with ozcoin and abcpool, these increases come from GPUMAX users using the pools as offline pools.

Definitely no conspiracy here.

Is there a SECRET Proportional payout section for the pool that I do not have a login or link for ?

Why does the hash rate for the pool INCREASE dramatically at the beginning of every new block ?

I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that people aren't hopping to get the most out of NMC mining...so what's the deal ? This pool IS PPS, isn't it ?

Something is wrong  Sad

pa.mtred.com does not work and

mtred.com has high reject rates. In a period without new blocks I got 2.34% rejects with mtred, 0% with ABC and 0% with deepbit.

seconding this - wouldn't have noticed if i hadn't seen his post. getting rejects here too. (though guiminer isn't giving a percentage... god i need to set up cgminer.)

Looking into this, believe it could be due to packet loss or another culprit...

seems something is wrong with this NMC block:

NMC   9ccf02ebb4631fd9d4b4486710eb3651ec9ac82d22312d56...   12/6/12 04:39am   2h0m21s   0.00000000   375946   120 req.

Its confirmed aint moving, if its invalid how do you handle the rewards or do they get paid from the next block since those rewards seem to just remain in processing atm.

Yes, We pay orphaned blocks, It will reflect the change and be credited later this evening.

It isn't only cheap hosts.  If you colocate a single server, you're vulnerable to a DDoS if any server in your rack is getting attacked.  Even with entire racks, you're going to be sharing an upstream switch at some point with other servers.  It all comes down to how quickly the datacenter can isolate the attack and blackhole the affected server, and how far upstream the attack separates from you.

I see, thanks for that bit of information.

I'm guessing you guys are on a VPS then?

Doesn't exactly mean that, they could be on the same network line. I've seen hosts that offer cheaper 1gbit connections because they are shared with other boxes.
