I'm already waiting 2 hours to buy some smartcoin on crapmarket.io
As stated before, we expect to resume normal operation in 24 hours. Get some fresh air, have some rest.
We will NOT resume trading in the next 8 hours, that is a guarantee. It takes time to test things, but we have more people on board now.

We are handling the situation as good as possible - by having the site up, so people can deposit/cancel/withdraw when they wish.

We understand that trust is a very important factor in this kind of business and we are shocked about the now-obvious Mt.Gox situation.
Rest assured that the Mt.Gox situation does not affect us.
Our opinion is that they were running a so-called fractional reserve goxing.
When they lost some bitcoins because of the malleability attack (combined with their bad tracking system),
they were left with an amount that is not enough to cover withdrawals. This is the end of Mt.Gox.
They could have avoided the attack by checking addresses for transactions that use inputs that they own.
Instead, they used txid's to track and re-send "missing" coins to attackers.
Also, we dont think its possible that they did not notice this for 2 years.
Like they never compared their BTC amount with the total BTC balance of the users? Unbelievable.

CoinMarket.io can prove posession of all deposited coins, at all times (by signing a message using an address that contains a large amount).
To gain more trust in the light of the recent Mt.Gox news, we will do this every month.

What about limiting deposits per altcoin per day, like no more then 24 ( hourly ). I know I have mine set to deposit at any where from every 3 - 12 hours. And if deposit frequency exceeds 24 per day per coin, there be a 0.25% deposit fee ( or more ).
This idea with the combination of a minimum deposit amount should do the trick Smiley

A minimum would need to be a function of value or yield or difficulty. Or some combination.

Something like at 100KH/s what is expected yield in 2/4/6/12/24 hours for the altcoin and pick a level that seems to make sense for the minimum.

Can I make deposit to coin market now? Or just wait ?
1. Deposits work
2. Withdrawals work (if there are enough unspent inputs in the wallet that can be combined into a single transaction).
3. Canceling orders works

If you really want to be sure, just make 2 or 3 smaller withdrawals instead of one large one. This does not affect bitcoin, only some of the altcoins.
We are consolidating the dust into larger inputs to stop this issue - its nothing major, your coins are safe.
There is a limit on number of inputs that can be used in a single transaction.
This is why people who mine directly to the deposit addresses (using small amounts) need to be puhisned in some way.
They are spamming the blockchain and effectively making a denial of service attack without even knowing it.

Something to ease your nerves: out of 846 withdraw requests today, 836 have succeeded without a problem. The remaining 10 will be handled manually.

Code:
mysql> select count(id) from wr where st= 'confirmed' and txid != '' and decide_time >= '2014-02-25 00:00:00';
+-----------+
count(id)
+-----------+
      836
+-----------+

+-----------+
count(id)
+-----------+
       10
+-----------+

What is the total number of withdraw requests processed by coinmarket.io? 43882 Smiley
Compare this to the number of issues and you will realize that there is no major problem.

Re-posting this, because people dont even care to read the previous page.

Sorry for the delay, here is the update on the current situation:

Why is trading still paused?
A new team member has discovered some bugs in the trading engine. They need to be fixed to avoid exploitation and maintain integrity.
We are re-writing the whole engine as we speak. Among other things, the new engine will propely indicate buys and sells in the market history.

Why is the site going down so often today?
After moving large amounts of altcoins to cold (secure) storage, our wallets were left with a large amount of small unspent inputs.
These inputs are generated by people who mine directly to our deposit addresses, using small automatic payments from pools.
When a withdrawal fails because too many unspent inputs must be combined, the coindaemon throws an error: transaction too large.
What are we doing to prevent this? We will manually consolidate the inputs by sending coins to ourselves.
This can take some hours, but its not a major issue. After this, the coindaemon will be able to choose less inputs for withdrawals.

Our system is configured to stop on any unexpected condition, at all times.
This is why the server is going down - we have to manually restart it after a coindaemon error.
This is the same protection that has prevented people from exploiting bugs - its important to "crash" on any unexpected condition.
We carefully inspect all error messages before restarting the Node.js process. Having this protection will make us alot better in the long run.

Also, because of the Mt.Gox situation, withdraw volumes have increased on all exchanges.
Because of this, we have to re-fill our hot wallets, multiple times per day. Usually its the other way around.
Another effect of increasing withdrawal volumes is that the coindaemons run out of "large" unspent inputs and start combining the dust from mining deposits.

What happens to stuck deposits, withdrawals and other support requests from the last pages on this thread?
Less than 0.5% of users have a stuck transaction. Mostly because of e-mail delivery issues (working on them aswell).
All recent support requests will be handled in 4-24 hours, starting now (already handling some).

If your confirmed withdrawal failed without an txid, dont worry. We will manually resend these later.

We are hiring more people - another Node.js/crypto developer and 3 additional support team members from different timezones around the world.
If you happen to be (or know) an expert in Node.js, feel free to contact us.

We will start moving our infrastructure to a production-ready datacentre as soon as the dust settles.
Websockets-based realtime UI is ready and will be deployed next week.

While the markets are paused, everybody can still cancel orders and make withdrawals.
We expect to resume normal operation in 24 hours or less.

When? And if you don't know, will you tell us before releasing?

I suggest only way to save face is to put the site back online and let people withdraw their coins. Leave trading disabled and update the main page with a big red warning: MARKETS HALTED FOR AN INDEFINITE TIME DUE TO TRADING ENGINE UPGRADE. Any changes/upgrades you want to do you can make them on a test server. There's no excuse not to.

We never stopped anyone from making any withdrawals! Read the information before you post!
