Asia Cup 2022 will be held from August 27 to September 11 in Sri Lanka. As the ICC World Cup Men's T20 2022 is coming up, the event will be a T20I competition. In terms of performance and quality time, the Asia Cup should be played in an ODI format. ODI format was used in the previous edition of Asia Cup and India won that tournament very easily! Since we play 20 overs, this will at least be a competitive tournament? A T20 format is challenging for any team.

The ODI format obviously needed a lot more skill than the T20 format. There is no doubt that the T20 format is going to be interesting and in this format, the weaker teams will also have a good chance of going deep into the tournament.

But, I have to say I like the ODI format better. But this change can certainly offer some interesting results in the upcoming Asia Cup.

I can understand your logic. But the ICC need to make sure that such type of meaningless matches are avoided in the future. Think about the cricket fans. They take their time and effort to watch five days of play, and in the end they are getting this. And trust me, no one would do this if the WTC points table is not there. And I am afraid that in the future it will get even worse. Test cricket is dying and further incidents such as this one will make that demise even quicker. First of all, lop-sided contests should be avoided. Big-4 should play among themselves more often.

Even if ICC does want to make a rule about the pitches I don't know what kind of rule that might be made to be effective and equal for both teams. The home team will always try to take advantage of their home situation. I actually think that sometimes the home team takes certain steps which are not ethical.
But, what rule can possibly be made which will be fair? Or should the cricket board just be instructed that they need to make a good pitch?
Important point mentioned - but would that rule be applicable to every region with extreme weather conditions. And what about the pitches which are already mature. I think the pitch was given so much importance but when there was time. Teams did well on the dead pitches and made the game alive.

AFAIK, Asia cup was once played in T20 format (I don't know who the winner was). T20 is gaining popularity day by day and every team should develop expertise in T20 format to secure there future cricket. I am excited to see Asia cup in T20 format, trust me there are not much fans of ODI and Test these days.

I don't think there is any future of test cricket in this fast pace world. People don't have time to watch five full days of cricket. Those who have joined the test cricket are the only one to play it for future as no new country in the world is interested in test format. There is hardly any interest in WTC by cricket fans but thanks for updating us about this event.

Excuse me? How can you expect ICC to deduct points for any team exporting the advantage that they have in the home ground? That's what makes the home and away conditions different for every team. I know what Pakistan did was really unexpected and to be honest it was a shameful act but I don't think ICC should deduct points for that.

There is development regarding Australia tour to Pakistan as Pak minister says Australia white-ball matches moved from Rawalpindi to Lahore. Political rallies later this month scheduled in Islamabad - the twin city of Rawalpindi - has led to the change of venues
This is very sensitive nature tour and Pakistani administration totally knows this and they are trying there best to make it a successful tour.

I really thought that the pitch was going to be a lot better than this. I really did not expect to see this after 24 years. I thought that the matches were going to be really competitive. Instead, we just saw the batters playing as they wish, and realistically there is a love result outside a draw in a pitch like this.
If any team becomes aggressive it is certain that they might lose a wicket but if they play safe there is no way that a batsman is going to get out. But I have to give credit to Pakistan for not losing the test match.

LOL.. I don't know if fans were permitted in to the stadium to watch the match. If they were in case permitted, then in all probability after the first day none of them would had the courage to go back to the match. It was so boring. If the ICC has any balls, they should deduct points from Pakistan in the WTC table for preparing such substandard pitches. Anyway, I am not expecting much from the ICC, as they have failed to act on previous occasions when Bangladesh and Sri Lanka did the same to visiting sides.

The last two days of second test were full of excitement for those who were following the match. I too don't watch the test match very often but did watched last days play. Aussie bowlers really took the criticism away from pitch when they bowl out whole Pakistani team on 148. 2nd Test was very exciting that we have to admit.

After very long disconnection Pakistan is having good team at home, so obviously they deserve some advantage and favour for these things but now as we are going into third test in Lahore reports are coming curator is already in Lahore from Australia for final preparation, and they already announce they will work in this way as well because now things are normal, and they have few big teams coming in Pakistan for more cricket which mean more revenue and more fans and entertaining cricket which is possible only with supportive conditions and pitches.
Am i reading this correctly, are you telling that the curators from Australia will be preparing the wickets for the series in Pakistan, what kind of rule is that, the home team can take the decision on what pitches they prepare and i am confused why they would allow others to prepare the wickets.

With this all still this second test have very good and interesting end as Australia having 170 overs but still not able to win this match which is also having many questions about their ability from few legendary Australian cricketers, hopefully next match will give some good cricket.
I hope we will see a good wicket that would help the bowlers, we saw plenty of runs scored in both the matches and every batsman who had the patience improved their average, i really hope we see a good wicket in the third Test.

All is well that ends well. Everyone was in good mood. Especially Waqar Younus, after the match review, he looked so happy and said in last 10 over my heart was pumping on every ball. Draw also means a win for Pakistan. To be honest, Pakistani needs to work more honestly in their respective departments. They are certainly lacking professionalism.

You are right that pitch was not upto standard and we see hardly any support for bowlers so far except in Pakistan second innings. Australia is visiting Pakistan after 24 years and Pakistan just don't wanna lose this series to prove there equivalency with Australia team. Poor show by curator.

In the WTC table, Australia and Pakistan both lead the way. If Pakistan had taken advantage of home advantage here, they would have won instead of drawing. Pakistan has tough road trips ahead. Losing next match will see them fall below Sri Lanka.
Actually, Australia could have won this one easily, but they messed up big-time due to which Pakistan somehow managed a draw. I never expected them to win even after an amazing second innings.

I feel that the final test will go to Australia since their batting and bowling units have been consistent so far in this series.

I agree that the pitches were not in their best state, but the Australian bowlers still managed to take advantage of them in a better manner when compared to the Pakistan bowlers which is praiseworthy.

Hands down to those who predicted a draw for Pakistan and Aussie test match. What a treific draw by Pakistan and what a wonderful performance by Muhammad Rizwan and Captain Babar Azam. I really like the personality of Muhammad Rizwan. Can't get my eyes off the TV when Riz is on the field.

Yeah... congrats to Pakistan for saving the match. But the man of the match award should go to the curator who prepared the dead pitch. To be frank, the pitch was not of international quality and it is a shame that the PCB needs to resort to such cheap tactics to get some points in the WTC. If they had prepared a lively pitch and lost the match, then there was some honor in that. At least we could have said that they tried hard. But for this series, from the very first day the Pakistanis went on the defensive. There is no honor even if they win a few points from drawn matches.

We never expected Pakistan's display of heroics at the crease and their patience. You can easily understand how suddenly the situation has changed if you compare the two innings of Pakistan. England vs WI test series is also in progress and first match ended in draw and on first day of second test England were 244/3 at stumps. What you will say about curator of that pitches? I have already said in Test match thread and will repeat that both teams are equally strong for each other and its right of country to make pitches according to there own will.
