Commission job work will help us be more active and positive at work as well as more responsible for our life because to achieve our goal, we have to work continuously. Unlike commission jobs, basic salary jobs give us a stable life, less competition and you hardly have to worry too much about your life. Both have pros and cons, depending on the preferences that each person will choose the job they love and suitable for their personality, it is impossible to say which is better than the other.

As a person with a family to feed and relying on me, salary based job is more suitable. Having a monthly stable income is more secure and less worries compared to commission based wherein you have to strive harder in order to get more sales. I experienced it before, it's hard and stressful and ideal only as part time.

However, it still depends on your capability because there are people who are able to survive and exel through commission based because of their dedication and passion to the said job. It's really true that if you love what you're doing, you won't feel any burden but instead motivated to be successful and become financially stable.

I prefer commission jobs than salary base jobs, this is because commission jobs are usually bigger, for example if we get an assignment to sell a house and succeed, we can get a big commission, there are many job opportunities based on commissions and another advantage is that they are not tied to routines such as salary base jobs.

A commission-based job does not provide the stability that a salary gives you. How on earth will you buy a house or property on a commission-based job? You have zero guarantee that you will be able to pay your monthly expenses and bond payments, if you earn commission every month.

I like a job where you get a fixed salary and then they add a commission incentive, if you participate in sales. (You might be working in HR or Finance or Logistics... but you also help in sales.)  Grin

Well I now have a job with a salary paid each month and I like it that way.  I think I would be nervous if a had a job where my salary is so much less but I could make a bigger commission if I made some sort of quota that was expected for me to make.
Many years ago I worked a job in Sales and it was a commission based job.  It was a stressful Sales job and I had to work more then 40 hours in each week to make my quota.  It was a nice job to have at the time but too much to worry about if people didn't want to buy the insurance I was selling then I was in trouble and worked 50 or more hours each week just to survive.

Every human being has the type of work that will fit him/her. Not all job is the same.

Commission job is well challenging. Having that type of work requires you to be moving from one place to another, trying to convince people that might end up not buying the product you market.
Commission job is not really for people who are not outspoken, jovial and smart. Stay far from a commission job if you don't exhibit such traits.

I preferred a commission job to a salary job. The reason is that I hate to be controlled in a particular job without having other chances to explore and excel in other fields
I think it's possible that any kinds of jobs will fit to each of us because what if you live in a poor country where jobs are only limited? Instead of complaining and be too choosy, people there just pick up any jobs as long as there is still a vacancy. What important for those people is to earn and have something to fill their stomach.

You said you hate being controlled by your boss but I think when you are doing commission works, you will still be dictated by your client and sometimes they are also the ones that will decide if how much cut you are going to get. If you truly want freedom then you better be an entrepreneur and build your own business.
Survival do what matter the most on which we arent on the position on demanding on what jobs should be offered and most of the times you would really be having no choice but to deal up with those current

offerings unless if those salary bracket isnt really justifying your experience and past positions then it would really be depending on your decision whether you would swallow that ego or pride just to have some

job which is something that you arent expecting that you would really be accepting. Its true that if you do hate on having a boss or much prefer that you arent licking someones shoes
then you would be totally be sticking into entrepreneurship or making a business.

Pardon me to say this; Do you know that salary (monthly) based job always goes for a loan?
Yes! This is absolutely true because they always have the hope and mindset by month ending they are expecting payment from their office so they thought they are entitled to take loan and pays whenever their salaries comes at the month ending.

Do you also know that Monthly based salary earner always live extravagant live?
Sure i have been a witness of this, i have friend of mine who is working and he live a life that i can't tolerate his kind of characters, he spent money unnecessarily and keep saying don't worry at the month end i will pay all.

Lastly, skill based work is more valuable and taskable than the commission job and salary based job
In skill job, you put your best to attract more clients through your works you could get more jobs or possibly your clients could refer someone to get you contacted for another job, by so doing it will require to go for more knowledge (upgrade) to enhance your skills rather than just seating in a company waiting for months to end to receive your salary. Skill based workers are being paid more compared to other sections of workers. Believe me or not they always utilized their income very well and are very rich. eg, Bitcoin and any other cryptocoin out there are skills based work and income can't be quantified with any other salary earners today in the world, through their skills they have been able to produced a coin called "bitcoin", from which other coins have been given birth to.. over the years thousands of cryptocurrencies have been launched through skills (Knowledge developed, introduced by a single man).

I have third option: Business / Entrepreneurs

You get best of both the worlds mentioned above. You are highly proactive when you invest money and time on yourself and can do magical things in terms of financial management. Definitely it’s more paying and you could still have lot of time for yourself.

Though it depends entirely on nature of business most of them would take lot of time, struggling period cant go off soon but once the base is created you can easily sky rocket yourself.

Just indulge into this pathway if you really want to average the pros and cons of those two ways you mentioned. ;-)

I prefer Commission Job Than Salary Base Job, this is because I am still in school and I don't have full time to work, and I have worked several times and got a commission that is a car sales and renting an apartment so that I get a commission that I think is big.

This topic is very subjective because different people have different lifestyles.
There are some who prefers income stability than higher income, but there is a high chance of you losing that job or you might not earn at all.

I'd prefer stability than higher income, so I'd go with salary-based job, but if there is an opportunity to do commission-based jobs aside from the salary-based one then I'd rather do both. Right now, one income source for me isn't enough. I also read a Facebook post that has a caption, and it says, "Use 9-5 to pay bills, use 6 onwards to build your future."

Now if you can be a business owner then you will not fall to these 2 options, and that would be better obviously.

Agree with this. It still depends on the person, and I want to get a salary-based job because I do have a family to feed, I don't have any skills in commissions, and I am not good at sales. Though mostly the point with this is about high income. I do have a relative that is working in a commission-based job, I could say that even though I have a higher salary, he still ends up earning more, but the problem is that when COVID came, that affected him a lot; he had no income at that time. Both have risks, but if you want to play it safe, go for a salary-based job.

For security, of course, salary base jobs are better because if working according to the commission usually requires a lot of expertise, and marketing is a field that usually provides salaries according to the commission, Of course we must be brave to try to work according to the commission if we have enough skills.

Underestimate- nothing
Only a nice person can carry their friend through tough situations, thus it's touching that you have a decent mindset to do so. In circumstances like this, where most people don't care if someone forgets that one good return deserves another, having a salary base is far better and more convenient in certain ways than being paid on a commission basis for commissioned work. And from a different perspective, everyone picks what they believe is appropriate for them, therefore some people may feel at ease with the commissioned job while others may rebel against it.

You're mentioning the negatives of commission-type jobs twice. The last paragraph's title should be regarding salary-based drawbacks.

Corrected it thanks. It was a lengthy story and I was not feeling fine at the time of writing.

Back to the subject now, I haven't tried a commission-based job yet. It sounds too intimidating and quite stressful if you ask me. No sales, no revenue. This way, you don't have a guaranteed flow of income by the end of the month.

If you are a new employee of this kind of job this means you are going through some tough times until you are fit to have your customers and other networks. It is benefiting for higher level workers and they have more guarantee income, they have laboured in the past.

On the other hand, these types of jobs may go well beyond if you're an out-of-the-box person and may achieve a greater income than the normal salary-based job.

You have to have charisma that is the ability to convince people. Is not the job for shy people or introverted people.

I'd be willing to try it at some point, but in a sector I'm an expert in and interested in.

This time around you can market products online . It is a good area to focus for shy people and people not good for one on one convincing.

For now I prefer a salary base job, when we get a guaranteed payment then I can focus on doing the things that are asked for, so that I can spend all resources and ideas, while commission jobs of course need proven experience and skills, like usual marketing jobs is a commission job so it takes a lot of skills.

Jack of all trades 💯
If you have skills and long years of experience then you can get huge compensation for commission jobs. Also you can work with multiple projects so for sure you can get good money here if as I said you are skilled and well known but if you are building up your portfolio then maybe choose the second option.

In salary base job well maybe you can work 1 or 2 jobs but expect you can get the fix monthly payments for choosing this one.

A commission job isn't good enough because you will be set on target to meet up with on a very weekly or monthly bases and that determines the rate of interest the employer will awarded as a commission at the end of every circle, the bad of it is that they will not pay you if you don't meetup the targets set, salary work is more ok and better because you will always have your fix income at every thirty days of work period, but the bad is that you may not be open to an opportunity to earn more than the stipulated amount every month, but it's more preferred than commission jobs.

All I can say that I am more pessimist than optimist, that is why salary based job is my choice, because it creates an image of stability. Commission like job is more risky, but allows to earn more. Employee is almost unlimited with his earning. Why almost - because of demand and supply. Employee can do as much work as huge demand is.

Some people here said that salary based job is for those who are lazy. Because a person can do much more, but he will do only agreed by contract amount and receive agreed salary. That does not bother me much. I can earn more doing commission job, but I understand that I can not earn all money in the world. Instead, I prefer to do some freelance or some quick IRL jobs (like do few hours of delivery and etc).

I think I will choose a job based on salary because I will get that monthly payment at the end of the month or the beginning of the month. As for commission-based work, I find it hard to catch up because I don't feel I can sell things as easily as others.

In this salary-based job, I think we have to be careful in choosing the place of work so that we can get promotions, which means that the salary we get can also increase along with the benefits. But people who work on commission may find it challenging to make or pursue sales to earn more commissions.

The option between the two depends on the choice and the desperation of the person involved. The most common offline is the salary-based jobs, while most of commission-based jobs are online, except its a professional work that the company so rely on the professionalism of the person. Some do commission-based jobs as their way to make passive income, so it's cool as they could do it in their spare time to make more money. While the amount of the salary received matters too.

However, the comfort of earning and the amount of earning should be used in knowing the best one between the two. This varies among individuals.
