Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks
This topic is very subjective because different people have different lifestyles.
There are some who prefers income stability than higher income, but there is a high chance of you losing that job or you might not earn at all.

I'd prefer stability than higher income, so I'd go with salary-based job, but if there is an opportunity to do commission-based jobs aside from the salary-based one then I'd rather do both. Right now, one income source for me isn't enough. I also read a Facebook post that has a caption, and it says, "Use 9-5 to pay bills, use 6 onwards to build your future."

Now if you can be a business owner then you will not fall to these 2 options, and that would be better obviously.

If you can do both, why not?
Having a basic salary is very important because you already know the income you are getting and it is programmed as well as possible to meet your needs, savings for urgent needs, and also small investments every month on a regular basis for the future. And on condition, your base salary is enough for it all.
and there is nothing wrong with you working and also looking for a side as a commission by using your skills or strengths which I think you can still use in your spare time or outside your working hours. I think it's very good and do it to the best of your ability and also don't push yourself if that's enough.

and I rate salary ensures you get a base salary and commissions act as a motivator for you to increase your income by working hard.

I would personally choose a commission-based job but also will not criticize those that choose the fixed salary jobs because truthfully the rigours associated with commission-based jobs cannot be handled by everyone.

Some of the commission-based jobs in my region are always associated with marketing and it not everybody that have marketing skills. Sometimes these marketers have to go through a lot of challenges just to get deals that would enable them to earn some commission. We have had issues of clients sexually assaulting these marketers because of their desperation to get deals.

I would always prefer a salary-based job that has the prospect of promotion based on performance and constant salary review based on current economic realities. It is easier to plan with salary based job than a commission based. In commission-based jobs, you might not be sure of your earnings for the month which makes planning very uncertain.

You're mentioning the negatives of commission-type jobs twice. The last paragraph's title should be regarding salary-based drawbacks.

Back to the subject now, I haven't tried a commission-based job yet. It sounds too intimidating and quite stressful if you ask me. No sales, no revenue. This way, you don't have a guaranteed flow of income by the end of the month. On the other hand, these types of jobs may go well beyond if you're an out-of-the-box person and may achieve a greater income than the normal salary-based job.

I'd be willing to try it at some point, but in a sector I'm an expert in and interested in.

Commission based pay or salary makes no difference to me.

I may not be the perfect worker. But I've always tried to do what I can to make as much money for my employers as possible.

Its not a cool story bro, but a long time ago, when I started working at a mcdonalds their grill was stained and dirty. When I quit working there I had scrubbed the grill enough at closing time for all of the stains to be removed. You could tell if I had the closing shift as the grill would be a visible shade lighter and nearer to its original color.

It doesn't matter how much they paid me. That's the type of plan I've tried to follow everywhere I've worked. As I wanted my name to be associated with quality work and dependability and also to form good work habits.

Between commission incentives or salary pay. The best option could be the 3rd: be your own boss. I think that's where everyone would choose to be if they could.

Every human being has the type of work that will fit him/her. Not all job is the same.

Commission job is well challenging. Having that type of work requires you to be moving from one place to another, trying to convince people that might end up not buying the product you market.
Commission job is not really for people who are not outspoken, jovial and smart. Stay far from a commission job if you don't exhibit such traits.

I preferred a commission job to a salary job. The reason is that I hate to be controlled in a particular job without having other chances to explore and excel in other fields

Commission-based jobs have limitless earnings while salary-based jobs, they've got an expected salary to be received whether it's weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
It all depends on the person on how he's liking the commission-based job. I've worked before with a company that offers commissions and only a little allowance daily. I find it really challenging and exhausting and you can't go easy with it unless you've got a huge payday and commission. It's like you'll be pushed to your limits to do everything that you can to hit some target of yours. As for salary jobs, you may go easy and you've got what you've been said to receive as your salary. The good thing with commission based is that you hold your time while for the other, you don't unless it's part of the contract that you can do whatever you want next after finishing the today's task.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
It depends on the field you're in. Some jobs cannot be converted into commission type even if you wanted them to be like that. For instance, you can't expect a trauma doctor to be all night at work waiting for a patient to come and get paid for the number of patients he helps. The job is too important for him to be paid nothing on a slow day.
I know a case where firefighters were paid per hour of putting out a fire, so they were setting the nearby woods and abandoned buildings on fire.

IMO commission jobs are good for journalists, writers, artists, coders, builders, but you can't expect a store clerk to work this way. How would you pay a gas station worker on a commission salary? For each car that goes through? That would be ridiculous.

I prefer career jobs or salary base jobs, as mentioned. This kind of job brings stability to the employee and his family. There are many potential benefits and increasements on his wage as he rises in career, while keeping the same workload.
But this type of job is able to kill the creativity of any person and make him hostage to certain circumstances, including government jobs, which are the most guarantee of providing a stable income.
Freelance professions may be more tiring, but they are more productive and therefore more profitable. As for investment, it may be more profitable and does not cost much effort, but it is less productive and does not provide direct benefits to society and the market.
Well, workload varies a lot. There are governmental jobs with 4 or 5 hours workload from monday to friday. It is possible for those employees to have a fixed job at the governmental sector and an extra job as freelancer, so they can continue exercising their creativity anyway. In some cases, just a secondary hobby activity is enough to balance the monotony and annoyance of a public job and achieving welfare in life.

I will always pick commission based  jobs over salary based jobs. If i have little or no idea on how to get my audience in the commission based job it will be challenging at the early stage but once i find the perfect audience for the product boom it will be a rosy adventure because my pay won't be fixed and static but rather based on my effort and productivity.

Another good thing with Commission based job is it can be a good preparation ground for future entrepreneurs and large business owners because from the experience gathered in getting the right audience for a companies product the employee can apply them in their own ventures which will help in predicting what audience best suits a product and how to convince them to try them out

But since opportunities are scarce for all nowadays, we can't choose with what we want to work. Any opportunities available (since they are legit) must be taken in consideration even if it is not the job of your dreams.
The circumstances of our life will dictate which one is the most appropriate for us, if someone already has a family they need to support they cannot really afford to work for commissions as you only need a few bad months to get into financial trouble and to start having problems with your spouse, however if you are single it makes more sense to work for commissions if you are good at what you do, and even if you have a few bad months this is no problem as you can always cut your expenses until you begin to do well again.

I have been on both sides so I have a fair share of experience. I do prefer a job that pays me on commission basis to a job where I have to wait till the end of the month to get paid as it is in my region. My reasons are that first I am a very ambitious person and working commission jobs is like working for myself therefore the harder I work the higher my pay. Secondly, since the pay isn't fixed I will be forced to embark on personal development trainings to improve my skills set since I am my own boss. Thirdly, in my opinion with good planning and discipline, this is the fastest route to getting clients, contacts and starting you own company.
Surely if you have the skills and capabilities like that, you will never settle in a salary based job but always chose for commission job to gain unlimited profits. However, for those who are comfortable having their stable job without going out from their comfort zone, salary based job will be better as it’s always safe and secured that you will receive a fixed amount every payday. For me, if I can have them both, that will be much better and will be give me huge profits at the end of the day.

A commission-based job — easily. I'd prefer me having to earn more when I outperform and/or work harder rather than having a "safe" salary. It really depends on a case to case basis though; someone in a bad financial situation might want a stabler income especially if he/she sort of lacks the skills and connections.

I agree with your statement- this is a case-to-case basis but if you are someone who has the set of skills to competitively participate against others, then a commission-based job may be better.

Personally, I am somehow scared of the term "commission" due to its nature. It is like, you are being paid as long as you can outperform and be at the top of the food chain. The only problem is, you have to be consistency at your work. While the pay may be higher compared to salary-based jobs, the latter is still more stable and secured in terms of receiving monthly wages.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to preference and opportunity. If you think that you are someone who prefers to control your own destiny, then a commission-based job may be better suit for you. But if you are someone who prefers to be secured, then a salary-based job may be the right choice.

This is an emotional touching story of a friend who is having some hard and difficult situation feeding for himself. After longtime of searching for paid job with no success he saw a job that will pay him in commission. This means you will have to depend for money with your success in the work daily, weekly or month depend on the agreement. This friend that got a job is now having more hard times to go out looking for customers to buy the product of the company that he is working for because it is a marketing company. He is depending on me for some support like to go to work, sorting him for transporting himself and sometimes feeding and I help to do this for him (a friend that is down today can be up tomorrow and may help you also in future, they say future is pregnant. Help a friend in need). I do this with him sometimes with happiness and good face. I encourage him that soon he is going to make big sales with big profit to cover all the time he is not having profit.

What do you think of it ?

I have to say that being in a job with decent prospects and an increasing salary offers a great level of comfort in life. Although it can vary massively between different professions and some people can have a natural talent for commission based work as you describe, often however companies will take advantage of people by underpaying with the promise of earning commission but with very difficult sales targets. Commission based work in some sectors can often lead to sellers exaggerating benefits, manipulation or twisting the truth in order to sell products and services - thereby deceiving the customer but benefiting the worker. Those who are unwilling to bend the truth will often find the base salary in this commission based job too hard to live on.

Commission pay job is what I prefer,it makes you have time for yourself, the more hard work you put in,you get your reward for it. It encourages discipline and is flexible. I  have a close friend that is into commission job,he makes three times more than the money a graduate earns at the end of the month. If you mismanage your funds during the time that you are making good cash on a commissioned job,you will end up regretting. A salary based job will benefit his reward after retirement.

He is a tailor sometimes he comes home three hours from the time he went to work, when I ask him what happened you came home early,he will say just made one shirt only, because he doesn't feel like working anymore that is why he came home. I will ask him what about your boss,he told me that she will pay him based on how many shirts he makes.

The types of commission and fixed salary jobs have different things but both of them can be put to good use if they choose from the work they like.

As we know a permanent job on a fixed salary basis is the choice of many people because they think they want stability at the end of the month (all the time) maybe this is said because they don't have to bother anymore to find customers they have to do work from a fixed salary basis is work that has no target, they only carry out tasks according to what has become part of your job.

This commission job is quite difficult for those who still don't understand there must be special skills in order to get more customers to this company which makes their targets have to be a lot in order to get paid more, if they don't meet the target they will get low wages but it depends on how we do the job well then I guess get the results it deserves.

I myself am more a worker from a salary basis, this has become my sufficiency with daily needs and other rent, apart from other businesses it will be a plus for me.

Why not both! Every type of earnings will have its own pros and cons. But when it comes to make money, I always prefer to have multiple sources of income. Being dependent on a single type of income may ruin your financial health.

Once you have liabilities like mortgages and other loans. It is always better to find more ways to make money so that you can support yourself financially during an unexpected turn of events. That's always preferred!

But both kind of job require some skill also. If you are in the office you need to know how to carry out some of the assignment and the man doing the commission job also need some public enlightenment , good speaking and charismatic to convince customers

Yeah because of opportunities not available with salary base job is the reason for doing the commission job by many people. But commission job has opportunity of being able to earn more if you put additional effort unlike salary payment that will be eaten up by inflation.
