I think you are right those who are addicted to gambling might not control himself/herself before losing all of his/her funds. But those who are not fully addicted and those who can control himself/herself the person can stop anytime when the person wants.

Not really that gambling addicts don't win, they do win but still find themselves losing all they've won because addiction makes people not to be conscious about their spending so in most cases when an addicted gambler win certain amount of money instead of going home and use the money won for important things rather than gamble they will still end up losing all either after winning or they can still decide to continue betting and at the end every thing is gone again. In the first two sentences of your post, you stated two observations of yours that I totally agree with but when you said that addicted gamblers have more win than losses, I became a little bit confused. Addicted gamblers like you said do win intermittently which does increase their belief of winning huge at the end of their gambling engagements but majority of the time they gamble, they do end up losing their money. Addicted gamblers are naturally greedy and aren't never satisfied with whatever win they get and that's why you see them winning a huge sum of money and still lose everything they had initially won at in less than an hour. They'll not even stop at the money they've lost already but will continue to gamble till they finish every single money on them. Addicted gamblers does not only lose their money but they lose more money than they win.

Gamblers who are addicted actually have a problem with themselves when they chase and try to recover their losses and then win, in fact they don't stop gambling, instead they want to keep winning even bigger and end up going home empty-handed, just as you said, that greed. Making people addicted to gambling is actually not because they don't win or lose, but because they can't control themselves from gambling addiction and can't play more responsibly. The point is that every gambler must be aware of this and reduce their addiction slowly.
