PSV played hard today in the home game against gronigen, one of the worst teams in the Eredivisie this season. And Fortuna Sittard has also had an excellent season so far. Since a Turkish trainer came to power there, things have only gone very well. And the arrival of Burak Yilmaz will certainly have contributed to that, I think. Emmen still need not panic. How will Ajax and Feyenoord do tomorrow? Both teams also have important games next week in European tournaments, so the question is how the players will be deployed in this match. Things seem to have only gotten better with Ajax since Schreuder left there. I think he can forget his coaching career.

The European League have challenge opponents with the best quality of play from various Leagues. This situation will be a consideration for these two clubs, they may face a big challenge in the Europa League, I think these two clubs prefer to continue to compete consistently in the Eredivisie.

Feyenoord managed to end the match with a 2-1 win today, while Ajax are struggling as they go 1-0 down after Mats Seuntjens scored for Waalwijk in the 17th minute

Difficult Feyenoord victory, but who cares? Won is won. Ajax and Twente have now also started their matches and both play a home match against a team that is weak on paper. Those should be easy wins too. By the way, PSV won very easily against Groningen yesterday and at the end of the match there was a score of 6-0 on the scoreboard. Those are big numbers. There are basically 5 title candidates, who will be the first to drop out? I would also like to see Twente and AZ finish in first place, but they are qualitatively below Ajax. But maybe even above Feyenoord.

PSV, Feyenoord and Ajax have always been the 3 big clubs in the Netherlands. From Twente it is actually a miracle that they still exist, this club almost went bankrupt a few years ago and I don't think it was saved with the help of the municipality. That they are now so high is very clever, but Ron Jans, the trainer also had a large share in that, I think. And Sparta is in a place they could only dream of. Had to fight relegation all year last year, that time seems to be over. And next week there will also be many European matches, with that in mind, certain teams will have given players some rest.

AZ and PSV have started with a goal festival, now Ajax and Feyenoord have to follow suit to stay in front. Twente should also win if they want to stay in the TOP 5, otherwise the gap could be a bit big.

AZ now once at the top of the table, when was that last time? Are there any statistics on this?

Not in my very short lifetime of memory of Eredivisie, for sure! Going to need to look that up in Dutch to find it I guess, but no, I'm sure their fans are enjoying this for a long time

Now if only Waalwijk can do everyone a favour and take some points of Ajax to keep the dream of them not winning alive just a little longer, that'd be great, ha.

A win in this match is very important for PSV. Because they are behind in the points table. Now in the third position. PSV has no chance of winning the title if they do not get full points in the next matches. PSV played well against Groningen. They scored 6 goals. PSV scored one goal in the first half, and they scored 5 goals in the second half. PSV players made 34 shots in the full 90 minutes.
Fortuna Sittard had a narrow win against Emenn. Fortuna Sittard is unbeaten in their last four matches and has won all three matches. This team is not very strong but is playing well.

I can't remember when I last saw such a statistic. No joke, but this is probably not even going to happen frequently when the first of a national first league plays against the last of a national second league. It is funny if you break that down by ball possession. Feyenoord had the ball about 65 minutes of the time and created 35 shots. That is less than two minutes per shot over the entire period of their ball possession. I just can't recall a game like that and the fact that it ended 2:2 and Feyenoord literally had lost the game when they were 0-2 down is just insanity and almost a fun fact Cheesy I can't believe what I am reading. 12:1 corners as well. That game is almost worth watching some replay.

I agree, according to the statistics it's almost impossible that Feyenoord didn't win, but that's football and Feyenoord was even 0:2 behind, probably without the red card even PSV would have won narrowly. For the league itself and me as an Ajax fan, the draw is of course preferable, so everything remains exciting.

Here are the Highlights of the game Feyenoord vs PSV.

Thanks for sharing the link!

Oh absolutely, results like these given the statistics is soccer at its best, but this game in particular is just insane in terms of the statistics Cheesy

I mean we have seen many games with one-sided statistics, but this was even on another level in terms of "one-sided" Wink

I agree with you that it can't hurt to keep the season exciting, but the same counts for Ajax showing weaknesses these days. It would be as boring if Ajax kept winning like they sometimes do and nobody else except for PSV has a chance. Now it is an open race and it's worth following it.

In the recent outings, Az Alkmaar has disappointed somany bettors that expected a good result from them, the most devastating game is the yesterday game that the played host to Utrecht in the cup match that ended 1:2 in favour of the away team in the extra time, I see some people say that cup matches are not taken serious by some clubs that are major contenders of a particular league, personally I don't see that ideology as a good one because be it cup or league match I see all as a competition that has trophy so relating it to this match Az Alkmaar has under performed, they dashed the hope of many in this game.
I think this season AZ Alkmaar is aiming to do well in the Eredivisie league. And they want to win the Eredivisie league title. Alkmaar is now 2 points behind Feyenoord at the top of the table. And so they now want to focus only on the Eredivisie. But the defeat against Utrecht was unexpected. Utrecht was not a strong team. Even then Alkmaar could not win this match. I would say it was their bad luck. Alkmaar players attacked a lot in this match. Alkmaar players made a total of 27 shots in this match. But their misfortune was that they lost the match despite attacking a lot. Alkmaar lost but their performance was very good.
Agreed with you about AZ Alkmaar aim because they are doing impressive work for the better end of this season even in last two matches they have shocking results but still things are in their favour, and they have good chance for staying at this spot for more time before this cup game they already face Utrecht in league match, and we have rain of goals in this match with AZ Alkmaar done good job after conceding two early goals, so now this time in cup game they have done good job but still this was not enough for them to secure their spot in next round.

We have another amazing game while Feyenoord face Nijmegen really shocking result as Nijmegen were leading until 90th minute and then two injury time goals help Feyenoord to go into extra time and then won their match after penalties mostly teams not preferred these cup games, but mostly this happens no with all teams.

I always take an eye on this league and also in the portuguese one, because for me they are the two more important asides of the big 5.

Its really interesting to see this year how tight its the fight for the championship, and also for the internationals cups spots.

Its also good to see Feyenoord again on top, lets see if they can hold the first spot.

One team who i dont know why they are not more high in the tabble its Twente i see them against Ajax a few weeks ago and they play really good, but seems like they dont have some punch in the fowards.
I think you have some misunderstanding as these both leagues which are you talking are not in top five, but we can say these are in big ten or seven because we already have big five with the England Premier League, French Ligue 1, Bundesliga Germany, Serie A Italy and La Liga Spain these are the big fives in UEFA and these two are coming after these five.
Surely this season is full of entertainment for the fans because things are going very tight for the title race in presence of Feyenoord is leading, and AZ Alkmaar is having second spot and Ajax and PSV are struggling which are mostly having top rank in this league but just four points difference, and we are still having 14 matches left which mean too many exciting matches and good entertainment for the fans as well.

Twente is also doing good even their recent performance bring them down but still good for the UEFA Conference league play-offs, hopefully things will be more interesting in coming weeks.

With only 2 different points, I think not hard for AZ to beat Feyenoord's position this week at least a day before Feyenoord plays away to Heerenveen. The odds are very interesting because the bookie makes 1.22 for AZ and 11.0  for SBV, with this number we can see who a favorite to win, and the other match, Feyenoord (1.7) also the favorite to beat Heerenveen (4.5) even play away.

I think both teams will win their games and the 2 point gap will remain. The top teams in the league don't have any direct duels this round and can't take any points away from each other. But the TOP 5 also have to win first, that's not certain - there can always be surprises.

PSV has missed the opportunity to connect with the leader. 0-2 ahead with fifteen minutes to play. PSV had one man less, but Feyenoord was constantly looking for the attack. In the end, the game ended in 2-2. It is too early to say that Ajax has things in order after the 0-5 victory at Cambuur Leeuwarden, but it is good for confidence. Since Schreuder left, Heitinga has now won 2x easily. I hope that Ajax can now also get involved in the battle for the championship. But in this league it's every week changing places in the rankings, no one seems to be consistent enough.
Unfortunately I didn't see the game or a summary, but according to the raw data PSV had to be happy about the point, in shots on goal, possession and also one red card PSV got. According to this data Feyenoord was clearly the better team and PSV must be happy for the point. But as I wrote at the beginning, I didn't see the game.

But as already written, the equaliser in late injury time was also lucky.

It's true that Feyenoord's players attacked a lot and made a lot of shots. But most of their shots were off-target. Had the forwards been able to perform a bit better with plenty of attack they could have scored at least 4 goals in this match. Due to their own failure, they can't win even after performing well. PSV on the other hand only resisted Feyenoord's attacks. and tries to score from the counterattack. Despite relatively few attacks, they scored 2 goals and drew the match.

I would say Feyenoord should be a bit more tactical. Victory is not achieved by attacking unplanned alone. They have a strong team. They can defeat any big team if they conduct a planned attack.

I know, still too early to call, but I think both Feyenoord and Eindhoven have just done Ajax the biggest favour ever today.
~snip

totally
as I said, Ajax is the only team that can win in series, and 8 points advantage that Feyenoord once had was nothing compared to that fact
not sure is that obvious now, but Ajax will probably win another title this season, will all others falling as the season continues, hopefully season will be at least interesting till last rounds

Astute observation, I thought the media here and chats I'm aware of (Eredivisie is about as local as it gets where I am) were too naive. Now is Schreuder has stayed, I might have changed my mind too but consistency is not the drink of any Dutch team not named Ajax.

Pundits are still hammering on about Timber's "blunder" but really, they're only rioting because they're still in the clouds about the title.

Feyenoord managed to gain 1 point thanks to the Iranian forward.  The goal he scored in the 90+6th minute prevented Feyenoord from getting stuck in the race to the top.  Had PSV won this match they would have moved into second place.  In the last minutes of the match, they experienced a great disappointment and could not get 3 points.  Leader Feyenoord continues on his way.
PSV is a very strong team. Feyenoord drew this match, which is definitely a good result for them. However, compared to PSV, Feyenoord's performance was much better in this match. A total of 35 35 shots were made by Feyenoord's players. Even then they can't win. They scored in extra time to draw the match. They scored the first goal in the 81st minute. However, PSV would have conceded at least 4 goals if PSV's defenders and goalkeepers did not play well in this match.
PSV was good in this all match but sadly due to RED CARD they lost one player and then lost two points as well with Feyenoord were able to score a goal in injury time and have good end of this match but still the best beneficiary of this match is Ajax which now having just three points difference and things are moved up for them to fight back for their top spot even now they have some tight schedule with UEFA Europa Cup is also starting again, and they have to do hard work for taking back this spot but with their quality and change of performance level can bring them back for their defend of title.

Heitinga is doing good job as caretaker coach as now he will stay until end of this season and most chances if he is able to handle things in positive way then surely they can go with him in near future as well.
