Xavi Simons immediately makes his mark in this team again. He has scored 2 goals and the young star player seems to feel completely at home in this team. PSV looks fresh under the new coach of Nistelrooij and is 2-4 and it will be over in a few minutes. I think PSV and Ajax have just as much chance of becoming champions this season, PSV seem to be much more organized than last season and also in the Champions League this week they were mentally very strong against Monaco. However, we have only had 2 matches so it doesn't say a lot yet.

ajax amsterdam has completed the transfer of Jorge Sanchez. the right-back joins from mexican club cf america and signs a contract until the summer of 2026. the 21-time mexican international (one goal) will reportedly cost the dutch club around €5 million
Maybe Ajax got a recommendation from Edson Alvarez, a friend from the National team and American Club Academy which I think is suitable if paired between the defensive midfielder and defender position. how lucky they were got cheap with only €5 million which I think will be rising in the next year because when we look at his skill is the same as Claudio Suarez, El Emperador of Mexico.

A good decision by Ajax to strengthen their defence, I can only say little about the player himself. I only looked at Sanchez on the transfermarket Website and it's difficult to assess him correctly. But Ajax seem to know themselves that they need to strengthen their defence. So are looking forward to the next games with Sanchez.

but most of it would go down the drain, if they miss to kick-out Monaco, or lose some easy points in the league, it is just the beginning, and long road this season
Yes it's just beginning, top 5 clubs won easily, Feyenoord, Ajax, PSV, Twente, AZ, and what makes me surprised is a promotion club Excelsior. Is that club being a dark horse for this session?. besides that, Feyenoord and PSV are looking very convincing with winning on 3 different goals, while Ajax and Twente maybe because play away from home, are only able to create 1 different goal.

Ajax has the advantage over PSV that they don't have to play qualifiers, PSV will have a hard time against Monaco and my favourite is Monaco.

agree here, Monaco is a favorite against PSV from my side as well
nevertheless, PSV started season in a good manner, trophy and easy win in first round, 9 goals, fans can't complain

but most of it would go down the drain, if they miss to kick-out Monaco, or lose some easy points in the league, it is just the beginning, and long road this season

Sittard did their best against Ajax but it wasn't enough for getting any point. Especially in the second half Ajax took control of the game and destroyed them by scoring three goals in a short time. However I must admit another thing that I just loved Burak Yilmaz's free-kick goal. It was a thing that Burak loved to do as he is a really nice free-kick taker at the same time. I believe that he can contribute to Sittard quite well after doing the same for Lille before.

Very moderate victory by Ajax. They eventually won 2-3, but after a few minutes they were already 1-0 behind and Fortuna Sittard also went into halftime with that 1-0 score. That could have turned out much worse for AJax. Yet another class from Ajax that they are already 1-3 in 12 minutes after the break. PSV won a lot easier, but they are in a difficult situation because they will also play the Champions League against Monaco next week, I was surprised that PSV started playing in their strongest line-up. The Champions League match against Monaco has bigger interests.

However, Ajax managed to secure a full 3 points from the match. But that their gameplay is a bit weak is well realized. They need to be a bit more stable if they want to win the title. Ajax needs to strengthen the defence.

PSV had a great 4-1 win against Emmen yesterday. PSV's gameplay was fairly stable. Although there were not many attacks, each of their attacks was well organized and powerful. We think PSV will be able to play well against Monaco.

For me it was also surprising that Ajax won with effort, but Feyenoord and PSV won their games convincingly. Also as an Ajax fan I prefer that the league could be balanced again this year, and not only Ajax and PSV have a chance to win the title.

PSV were significantly close to Ajax last season indeed. It was one of the best shots they had for the championship but they failed still. For this season it is difficult to comment on this topic for now. Because we haven't watched PSV and Ajax both in any league match. After we leave some weeks behind we would have some clearer opinions. For now I can say that Ajax are once again the biggest candidate for becoming the champions. PSV will need to make a big difference to put an end to Ajax's streak.

Yes but when you have these two top teams in a league, even then when it seems to be close it sometimes doesn't even feel as if it was close. Take Man City as an example, when they are one point ahead and there are 10 games left and they already won 12 in a row, it often feels like they won't just lose another one. Same in Germany, when Bayern is ahead or Ajax in the Netherlands. Often times these teams don't throw points away. Of course we as fans hope for that to happen, but in many cases it is crazy how these teams dominate till the very last moment. Imagine Liverpool not winning the PL with 94 points, lol. That must feel awful. You literally play a perfect season, yet you lose it. As you said this season might be closer, Ajax has lost a few great players over the last couple of years. Perhaps a chance for PSV.

Today Ajax and PSV will play for the first match, considering these two teams are two clubs that always dominate the league then I have no doubts about their victory for this match. Hopefully their head to head will still apply for this match, because then at least my pick at -1.5 would be an easy win. I think it's difficult to fight at odds like that, although anything can still happen like in the Liverpool match which only drew 2-2 but I think the competition in the Eredivisie is not that competitive. So yes, I hope my choice is not wrong, because if I consider the results on paper they will still be able to win this match.

will be probably a two-way, between Ajax and PSV, I do not see Feyenoord in that fight, but let us follow the season

Ajax certainly did not forget to score goals (they scored 3 against PSV), but needs to improve defense, since they conceived five

what was the last time to see two Super Cup matches finished 3:5 same weekend, as last weekend Netherlands and Germany, probably once in a life time

The defense was the gain last year, Ajax had gotten very few goals last year and also scored above average. But I still think Ajax had a very good defense, Pasveer was also injured for a very long time, maybe that will be better when he is back and integrated into the team again.

Fortuna Sittard will play against strong team Ajax and seems away team Ajax under Alfred Schreuder still need more time to adapt because they had unstable performance and the latest is Ajax lose from PSV and draw against second division team Almere City but the good thing is Ajax still too strong for their current opponent Fortuna Sittard because since 2018 Ajax always win from this team and if Ajax can improved their performance and forget their lose from PSV i think 3 points will belongs to them
I think Fortuna will be dealt with mercilessly today because if there's anything Ajax excel at, it's to prey on clubs that are beneath them.
With the season being fresh, I think Ajax will want to quickly secure their place at the top, and what easier way to do that than win in today's game?

The season is finally about to start. Ajax have dominated the league in the recent few years and we will see if there will be any change by this season. PSV have made a really good progress recently in fact. However they still need to become even more competitive against Ajax to have a more serious chance for the league title. Ajax have sold some important players maybe but I don't think this would affect them deeply though. They have new signings also and this can help them keep their strength.

Last time was the season 17/18 when PSV was able to mage 83 points. It is pretty safe to say that is the least number of points if you want to have a chance against Ajax. They have been scoring in the mid 80s range for years. I must admit though that I literally don't know about a single player that they now newly signed. It is most likely going to be another close season between the two clubs. Maybe Feyenoord and Alkmaar can keep up with them though. I am wondering that it is so often said that Götze is a big loss for PSV. He has hardly performed convincingly ever since he scored his goal at the 2014 World Cup...

This weekend the Eredivisie starts, my favourite is Ajax again this year, even after the departures, they have strengthened themselves well and will be favourites again when they are rehearsed. Ajax have no exhausting qualification matches in the Champions league at the moment because they qualified directly for the group stage and can concentrate fully.
Let's see them vs Fortuna Sittard, Ajax always wins 7 games in head to head, The last match, Ajax created a big winning 5 goals without reply. So I think, Ajax shouldn't have a problem winning the opening match when look on privious match.

The statistics are clearly in favour of Ajax, normally it should be no problem for Ajax to win away at Fortuna Sittard. But let's wait and see, Ajax might have a hard time, but they don't seem to have forgotten how to score goals.

I hope also, not PSV only but another club might have consistently broken Ajax domination and make Eredivisie more competitive than before.

I think everyone hopes that at least 3 teams can compete for the title this year, but unfortunately it will probably be a fight between PSV and Ajax again, even though I wish Feyenoord can keep up, but it will be difficult.
