Day 2 is done for the ESL One Birmingham and here's the recap for the past two days and as well as the current standings that they have.

I'm amazed of the last match of XG and Gaimin Gladiators, it was about to become a 1-1 since all of the games in the groupstages are 2 matches per series. XG managed to do a comeback on the 2nd map. I wasn't expecting that when the lead of GG was actually far and they're just about to end the game, well on that match I can say that patience did really paid off for the Xtreme Gaming. Last day for tomorrow and we've got some idea on which teams are about to get eliminated and won't make it to the playoffs.

The wait is almost over, with several hours remaining before the group stage for the ESL One Birmingham kicks off.

The teams in Group B are lucky to avoid most of the tougher teams because Group A looks like the group of death with Team Liquid, G2.IG, BetBoom, and Team Falcons.

I'm going low on Shopify to beat one of the weakest teams in Group A as I think they'll struggle to make it out similar to how Blacklist struggled in Elite League.

Esports World Cup has announced its prize pool. As what in the image says, it's totally going to be life changing event for the participating teams, players and anyone who's going to be part of this grand event. In Dota 2, Esports World Cup is the organizer of the Riyadh Masters. And if others don't know yet, Riyadh Masters has got the biggest prize pool last year so, the distribution might be bigger for Dota 2 on this event.

Last year was $15mil which was a huge amount of prizepool though so Im guessing this time it should be atleast $20mil. Its still a huge amount of money, thats literally 20 DreamLeague or ESL tournament because prizepool for these tournaments are usually $1mil
Yeah, that sure is a lot and the EWC is making a history in here and this is how they're defeating the most grand tournament that's organized by Valve into having more prize pool. Last year, IIRC, it was a news that they're investing into esports to make their region as an esports hub and now they're doing it and making a reality.

But even it doesn't get the biggest share for the entire esports event there, I am in no doubt that the share for each pie is a lot and will definitely make these players change their lives forever. And this is setting a record breaking prize pool, the past highest was with The International 2021 with a prize pool of $40M and this one is $60M, woaah!  Shocked

Its different though, this is an entire prizepool for esports worldcup while those $40mil prizepool on TI2021 was reserved only for dota2 so yeah thats a huge difference there but Riyadh Master tournament is still a top tier tournament and we dont even have anything close to their prizepool aside from TI
Yeah, it's different but having this kind of prize pool for one event with various esports involve is still a history. I can't imagine how much return they'll get from this but typically, this is going to make the organizers comfortable hire or choose this region for most grand tournaments in the nearest future once this event becomes successful and I am looking forward for that because they deserve to have that successful event.

EPL season 17 is happening now for Dota 2 while everyone is bored and waiting for the ESL One. This is in Europe so checking out some teams that have the potential since most of them are strong.

Our good boy Dendi is participating on this tournament and it's got 2 days before the playoffs happens and sadly, I've just seen that they're about to get eliminated.

Still no luck for Dendi even with these kinds of tournaments, he and his team struggles.

There is a really short time left for the new season of ESL Pro League to begin.  Smiley
That standing got me in the first half thinking there was a possible tie on the matches.  Tongue

I'm hopeful about especially Eternal Fire. I really liked their rise in last PGL Major and I hope they can keep up the good work and get even better.  Smiley
With four qualification spots per group, they should get at least one of them, the only question is the seeding (ro16, ro12, QF) they'd get at the end.

Unfortunately, their matches to secure the QF spot are difficult. They'll face Astralis at the start and meet Faze in the next if they win.

Winning this league will be really important. Because the winner gets an opportunity to join IEM Cologne in August. The last winner of ESL Pro League was MOUZ by the way. I see them still strong as they have reached the grand final in IEM Chengdu but just lost to FaZe and lost the opportunity to join directly to IEM Cologne. They will try their luck with ESL Pro League this time.

I'm hopeful about especially Eternal Fire. I really liked their rise in last PGL Major and I hope they can keep up the good work and get even better.  Smiley

I believe that we can finish Group A successfully.

I wouldn't expect from them when it's come to these tournaments that are still early for the TI. I am not trying to defend them or what, but this Elite league doesn't have points for qualifying into the bigger tournament and that's why I think that they're falling shortly. But without having any reasonings, the other teams are just better than them. It's like they are becoming on their 100% when the tournament is having a lot of prize pool and qualification for the bigger tournament. This Elite league has got a $300k prize for the champion and that's still a lot of money but knowing that these champs, they can win or just play as if there is nothing to worry about as there's no points and that prize pool has a place for everybody even at the lowest placers.
My thoughts are the same on the other teams struggling in the group stage. There's no urgency for them to go all out as there are more important tournaments like the ones from ESL and DreamLeague since those tournaments are the only road for the Esports World Cup, which is becoming like the replacement for TI.
True, despite the prize that they've got. They can't just go all out with the best or strategies that they've built over the period of time. Time flies so quick and soon, we're going to be in the TI and its qualifiers again and with those teams that have gathered enough points will have time for them to restrategize. They just can't give the idea to their opponents that they have something prepared for them for the grander events and tournaments. I am not saying that this Elite League is no grand but it's also one of them and it just so happen that there's no points on it. It's just all about the money but teams like TS can't put that at stake but, I hope that I am wrong but when it's come to respect, TS has gained it and they sure are a veteran and know how to act on these tournaments easily.

Anyway, at some news. I can't imagine Taiga was even doing his 322 when he was still at OG and that's why there's something off with OG at that time. Too much addiction really can cause you a lot of breakdowns and can make you lose your career. He's one of the best supports out there but he's gone out of the career due to addiction in gambling and no team will take him at this time. Props to his former teammates coming from Alliance, to Liquid and to OG. His teammates at Liquid are doing good but him, he's left behind.
The unexpected thing about his case was rigging the first blood, as he already admitted his gambling addiction before, and the community only gave him nothing but positivity.

He's still playing for a team in the SA region, but there's no chance for them to qualify as Boom, Heroic, and beastcoast are always fighting at the top.
Yeah, that first blood thing and many have been followed. I can't just think of it that he had accepted such offers like $1k and having some commission with that. He can earn more with his career and being on an SA team, I don't think that he'll be able to recover from being in a tier 1 team going to a tier 2 or even 3. That's just so sad but I guess that living lifestyle in his country is quite high and this made him do that.

On the other hand, here's the recap of what has happened for day 5 and the standings of the teams. Those teams that have red cross marked are surely eliminated. While with the green one, sure to move to the next stage which is the playoffs and will be placed on upper bracket.

Another defeat for Spirit today in Elite League and nothing goes on their way it seems. There was also statement before 2024 started from Spirit who said that 2024 is the year when they want to win everything or it's time to take a break ....and so far it seems they need a break asap because I bet it's nothing but frustration to play Dota and see that nothing goes on your way no matter how hard you try. ( I mean Collapse had to play underlord ?? ...this is clearly a sign that things are not smooth in Team Spirit ).

I read some interview before that Team Spirit has an inner struggle since they can’t show any good progress on the current patch after their successful run last year. This time is different because they probably have a toxic environment anymore that all players have the factor to leave the team since they already manage to achieve a 2 TI champs.

Collapse is the basis if TS is performing well or not because he is always the playmaker to give space to Yatoro in late game. It’s a waste if this team will part ways just because the patch doesn’t suit their play style.

EF has risen to 8th place in the HLTV rankings. We can say that this ranking is a new success for them.Really recently, incredible successes have started to come one after another in Turkish e-sports.EF, which ranked 10th in the ESL rankings, now has a better chance of getting direct invitations to big tournaments. We can say that EF is now a Tier 1 team.If you are in the top 10 in the ranking on HLTV, I think you are a tier 1 team.I think they will improve themselves in the upcoming tournaments.Especially if they use woxic's awp more actively and well, it will make their opponents more difficult.

Eternal Fire have gained 4 places at one time thanks to their successful run in PGL Major. We could have done more if we didn't lose our concentration against NaVi on Inferno but it was a nice try.  Smiley

I don't know the classification for calling a team tier 1 but I think teams reaching top 10 should be called like that as long as they spend their time there. Eternal Fire also deserve this title after this hard work until this moment. But we still have a lot of work to do. We can still be fragile in an unexpected moment. We need to work on our mental strength more to stay stronger in big tournaments. This is also the key to success you know.  Smiley

I consider any team now as a strong one and a contender and just as what we're seeing right now. Some unexpected teams were beaten and out already and some are rising.
Fair enough, some teams are slowly improving as the tournament goes on (like Tundra and Entity).

Also, good to see G2.IG is taking the lead in the other group, and they're using LGD's spot to the fullest. From what i've heard they're having financial issues that's why they couldn't participate, and that's probably why they lost one of the best midlaners to G2.IG.

Looking at the bracketing, they should have make both sea teams on different group but then they're both on group B.
Both of them landing in Group B is probably for the better because Group A is like the group of death with Team Falcons, Team Spirit, Heroic, and Azure Ray.

This is probably the farthest they can go IMO, and i'll be surprised if one of them advances to the playoffs. If they can get help from Team Liquid like what happened in DreamLeague maybe there's a possibility.
Well, not everything is going to be favorable for most of the regions and this will still end up with the strongest team and will beat everyone against all odds.

This Elite league has eliminated a lot of teams already. Notable teams like Nigma Galaxy and 9pandas are already out. But they're not the only teams that are already out. Here's the list of the others that will come together with them.

- KEV
- nouns
- Rest farmers

And tomorrow there will be more teams that will be out, to be specific 3 more teams.
I didn't expect Nigma Galaxy to exit out of the tournament this early when there are a lot of weaker teams in this Swiss group. I thought they could've gone up 2-0 in their first two series since Talon had a stand-in.

On the bright side, their elimination put Team Secret one step closer to qualifying, and they might have a higher chance of qualifying with Satanic filling in for 23's absence in their decider series against Aurora.
I was expecting a lot.

It's like a debut again to them participating a tier 1 tournament but they have ended too early. But just as them, Team Secret got eliminated today together with Talon Esports.

It'd be amazing to see if all three SEA teams somehow advance and win their series.
Talon is out but Blacklist International and Aurora are able to make it to the round robin stage and this is going to be a long round but still, points system. Looking at the bracketing, they should have make both sea teams on different group but then they're both on group B.
