Congrats on your win mate. France may have Fournier, Gobert, and an aging Batum but Canada in this FIBA tournament is reinforced by six NBA players and they're not just young but very talented. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made a huge performance of the night with a double-double. I expect Canada to play even better in their next games, especially RJ Barrett who seemed to have an offnight shooting.

It's really a good thing that I decided not to make bets during the first day of this tournament. I would've lost my Finland and France bets.
That's fine, we've got still some few matches remaining left and that's where you should put your bet.

Next opponent of Canada is Lebanon and I guess many have been impressed by them against France and this is going to give them confidence to bet with the Team Canada.

While for their last match, it's going to be Latvia.

I just break even in the Philippines vs Dominican Republic game, was able to catch the +11.5 but my ML lost beating on Philippines.

@tabas - yeah, Iran used to be a good team in the past, but I haven't followed their roster though. Maybe they have a lot of new players and those who have experienced have retired already. Hence, they can't keep up with a team like Brazil in this FIBA.

Is there someone who's watching Iran and Brazil? The 3rd quarter has ended and Brazil's score is 82 while for Iran, it is 46.
It is painful to see how Iran is being massacred by Brazil. I used to see a strong Iran but not with this performance that they are currently being shown. I will not watch anymore the 4th quarter as this is a one sided game and this has already been decided on who's going to win this match.

Same here, not in my wildest dreams that Canada would blew them out that way, though i bet for Canada,
Congratulations with your bet, you've won and that's like an unusual bet that you possible thought that it won't win.

i thought it was a risky bet since France is still loaded with NBA caliber talent but luckily for me they faltered and my bet won.
They sure are and that's why many think that they're going to make it easy for these line up matches. But Canada just upset them and they're not the only team with NBA players though just few than them.

Canada win by 30 points - probably nobody didn't saw this coming. I made mistake by understimating Canada, seems that this year they really have team which can achieve something and this win is serious statement.

Make it three of us.  Grin
A blowout like that against a strong team like France is something surprising especially after how I saw France played during the EuroBasket.

Puerto Rico won but good game for South Sudan.
Just when I thought what South Sudan lacking were shooters, Jones surprised me when he hit a big three-pointer to tie the game and extend it to overtime. They made a mistake by fouling Puerto Rico at seconds remaining but luckily, both missed.
Puerto Rico on the other hand, didn't give room for South Sudan in overtime, they rained with threes and just protected the lead for a win.

South Sudan's strength is the inside, but as I said, they lack shooters to spread the floor. It's a sad loss but that's how the game works.

I'm cheering for the Philippines to secure a victory against Angola, although they are now heavily favored.
We have to. Everyone is cheering for them in group A. Despite that it's not really going to be an easy way, 2 more games and the next one will define if there's still a chance or none although the last match is against Italy and it's like a hands-up match for the Gilas. This isn't the Gilas that we used to know, despite of being belittled and having a little chance to get on. We've seen how the team cope up against Dominican Republic which have been thought that will stomped the team easily but no. Angola for tomorrow and then Italy on Tuesday. Many are hoping that by tomorrow, they could get a win against them but on Tuesday, it's like that the majority are no longer optimistic.

I'm also surprised, considering France's high ranking. One would have expected them to provide a tough challenge to Canada, but suffering a 30-point loss is quite significant.

It's possible that during the tune-up games, they intentionally didn't play at their full potential to avoid being scouted. However, this game has likely revealed their true capabilities, and they indeed appear scary.

SGA's performance truly resembled his playing style with the Oklahoma City Thunder averaging almost 30 points per game.
Philippines had great chance to win against really solid team, but on last minutes they didn't had their leader Jordan Clarkson and they didn't found other player who can lead them in decisive moments.

Yeah, Philippines performed well and though Gilas lost, nothing to be ashamed as they left everything they got in the court last night and let us if they can bring the same intensity against Angola tomorrow.

I'm cheering for the Philippines to secure a victory against Angola, although they are now heavily favored.

The odds stand at 1.26 for a win, with a -8.5 spread.

Here is another fun fact from NeonMan himself,

The record attendance for a FIBA game was 25 years ago, Dream Team II at 32,000. While the Arena in the Philippines and the attendance there was 38,115 fans rooting for Gilas to win, unfortunately, KAT was too strong. Kai Sotto try to guard him but it was clearly a mismatch.

But the good thing about KAT is that he recognized and respect the efforts of team Philippines.

He see how passionate the Filipino on basketball and he receive a lot of love from Philippines so expect that he will say something good to their opponent also to the host country. But its really a tight game between Philippines and Dominican Republic if Philippines didn't collapsed on last quarter and Clarkson didn't get fouled out maybe the result is different. Philippines coaching staff seems having a big mess and looks like he don't have proper plan if Clarkson is out of the game.

That was the turning point – when he fouled out, it became the reason why the Philippines couldn't find their offensive rhythm anymore. Nevertheless, I believe it's time to move forward. With two more games ahead, I hope the Philippines will learn from their mistakes and make the necessary adjustments. We have a good opportunity against Angola, although I'm uncertain about our chances against Italy.

For the article I read and noise on social media many Filipino basketball fans doesn't like the current coach because his system use is outdated and it really show how inconsistent he is in creating crucial decision that's why they always left behind by their opponents. Lets hope that their lose to Dominican republic will be their wake up call to create more better plays and decision especially on crucial minutes. They there full of talents but they are just been wasted because their coaching staff doesn't know how to use them they just let Clarkson get tired and receive more fouls then we see how bad the result it turns for them.

The match was quite close. In fact, by half time, Dominican Republic and Philippines were tied at 42-42. Karl-Anthony Towns obviously top-scored for Dominican Rep and completely dominated the match and without him and the experience from NBA, the hosts would have easily won. In fact even during the third quarter, there were instances where Philippines was leading (although by small margins). But then Dominican Republic performed much better during the fourth quarter, and thereby won the match.

That was a nice game by the Philippines, I didn't expect them to make it that close. And nice atmosphere in the arena, this shows how much they love the sports.

To be honest, I made a small parley with all the favourites today, so basically micro odds. PH almost spoiled this bet for me, I was nervous for a quite bit in the 4th quarter!
The Philippines team made my blood pump high. Cheesy That really surprised me and I actually saw the light that they can win that game, all thanks to Jordan Clarkson. But damn, Karl Anthony Towns is like a bulldozer that is difficult to stop, if only the PH has someone to give him a hard time to get close to the rim, it could be a different ending.
Germany had their expected easy win against Japan, even after taking the foot of the gas in the 2nd half of the game.

Mo Wagner had a great stat line and 25 points, maybe in the next match he should be our starter! Anyway, now I'm watching Canada vs France. Right now Canada is pulling away a bit leading by 12, I expected it to be close and France winning at the end, but there is still plenty of time.
No problem from the Germans.

The other surprising team is France being blown out by Canada. France is the 5th favorite to win this event and Canada is 2nd. It's not far. France is @2.35 only to win their group and Canada is @1.65, again, not that far. So, a 30-point lead win from the Canadians is unacceptable.

Here are the results of yesterday's game.

Angola vs Italy = 67-81
Finland vs Australia = 72-98
Mexico vs Montenegro = 71-91
Latvia vs Lebanon = 109-70
Dominican Republic vs Philippines = 87-81
Germany vs Japan = 81-63
Egypt vs Lithuania = 67-93
Canada vs France = 95-65

The win by 30-point today was a surprise for many people because bettors were seeing Canada as the 4th favourite after France, USA and Australia. When we look at today's results we see that there isn't a big surprise. Frankly there wasn't an attracting match except France-Canada and Finland-Australia. Lastly I was very surprised that Angola were able to stay in the game against Italy until the last quarter in the first match of the day.

While on the other match, Canada and France was a surprising game. The crowd favorite France lost to Canada.
95-65!
That's a lot of lead for Canada and I am one of those folks who have been thinking that France will be the desired team on this FIBA world cup. But it seems that this WC is full of surprises everywhere and for every team that we're thinking that's going to do well.
That is a blown out game, but with France as the opponent it was that shocking because their roster has only one non-NBA player (past and present) though it shouldn't be a basis that they'll dominate.
I cannot imagine what if there's Murray on that roster then probably there's a rain of threes there. They're a crowd favorite and there's a basis for it but yeah, it shouldn't be just because many are favoring them as a team. But this FIBA world cup is giving the excitement vibes because it's more of a showdown and pride war than of the actual tournament itself.

Same thing, that's why I was surprised that Canada has won and thought that they won't have a huge lead against France. But it is what it is.

The game was actually close not until the last few minutes when a lot of turnovers happened. Too many free throws that didn't count as well.
I was cheering them while I was watching and shouting like it's not night here in our country. KAT did it the veteran way, it seems that it's not yet his full performance. During the last minutes, it seems that most of the players were tired and when JC was fouled out, they don't wanna move anymore. Those double three-point shots of Peña was the actual turning point and momentum of the Dominicana. Still, props to the Gilas team. We have never thought that the match will end up this close.
Turnovers and those forced three point attempts of the Gilas was really the thing that loses their momentum, too bad they could have won that. Lot of dribbles outside the paint and they can't even push it through that's why they tend to force it on three points. KAT can easily make fouls and as a good free throw shooter that was a turning point as well for them. With those rumors that it will be a blown out game by the Dominican Republic, it was really surprising it's this close.
19 turnovers if that's correct. The ball possession for the Dominican Republic was too long on the very last minutes of the game. That really had turned the table and they're on the lead during those minutes. I don't know, they're all pros but they probably need more experience on those crucial times and having no JC to lead them inside the ring, it's like that they don't know what to do and the dribble drive of Dwight and Scottie, that's too long because they don't have time left anymore. What a waste of time but anyway, that's already a lose for them.

It's a heartbreaking loss for the Philippines They are doing great all throughout the game it's in the last two minutes two that they falter their defense is not good they let the Dominican Rebublican score easily I hope they are going to be well organized next time they are touted as the best Gilas team to compete in FIBA.

They are going to meet Angola in the next match which lost to Italy, The Philippine team lost to Angola the last time they met in FIBA 84- 81 in overtime, I hope they can avenge their blowout loss to Angola.
That's okay, they didn't lose as if an easy lose. That's part of the game and IMO, that's better than what people are expecting against Dominicana that they'll just be eaten alive. But with JC's lead, he really was a great boost and motivation to the team.

Lithuania achieved solid win against Egypt, but our game was far from perfect. We only got solid lead after halftime and we finally started hitting 3-pointers.

Yes, it was one of the biggest surprised here today's game. It seems that everyone is banking of the PH team to win because of Jordan Clarkson, but that last foul though, not sure what the name of the defender, but he did a great job playing against Clarkson and force him to commit the last foul and that was it for the Philippines. But it was very close indeed and they have a good chance to steal one from KAT.
