I agree, with these players that have played with the best in the NBA with their respective teams whether they're teammates or opponents. The lesson and playing experience there is a big shape up not just for the individual players but also what they could share to the teammates that they're playing with for their national teams. While we're all going to agree that it's not about having someone on your wing just because they're playing in the NBA means they're automatically going to win rings on this world cup. This is all about the talents that we've got in different parts of the world who are great in playing basketball. It is exciting to see those teams that doesn't have an NBA player but they're trying to survive and win their games.

Well, salute to those teams that doesn't have any NBA players but are still on the top of the Fiba league, well the Philippines got one and that is Jordan Clarkson but with the tune-up games Chot Reyes the coach for the Philippine team decided not to let Clarkson play I guess this is to familiarised other players on the other teams without relying on Jordan Clarkson, that much, which is a great thing for sure,

Jordan Clarkson is an NBA player and he already has several awards and titles, if he plays for the Philippines it will be easy for the Philippines to create a good serie and easily create points in every game.
It is true that he was not played for the Philippines at the start of the competition so that other players would not rely too much on him to be able to win but when he reaches the middle of the competition I am sure that the Philippines will definitely use his services anyway.
It is alleged that Jordan Clarkson will become a star in the FIBA League and he also has strong potential to make the Philippines a champion later, but this is just a rumor that is circulating and of course we need to look further at the development of the Philippines in every match so that we can really assess how they will be in the league. FIBA.
However, it is not only Jordan Clarkson that is playing for their country, a lot of NBA players too are into the FIBA representing their country like Dominican Republic having KAT.

So it's not going to be easy just because they have JC in the Philippines that they will be able to win or even become a champion in FIBA. They even have a tough bracket if I'm not mistaken against Angola.

Just want to let everyone knows that I met Tyron Lue about an hour ago in City of Dreams (casino here in the Philippines).

He was very friendly and he greet almost everyone that knows him (and as we all know of, Philippines is a basketball crazy country, hehehe).

Wasn't able to take pictures though as it is not allowed in this casinos. He was just looking for crap games though and then went to VIP and then goes out, not sure where he went as I was going home already (with just a couple of dollars winning playing roulette,  Grin).

You're right, those that have made it far on the last season will have to be wise on their decisions. But there have been those players that have presented themselves to play for their country so, there's no way of reverting it now.

Not unless they're like Jamal Murray that have announced that he's going to recover for now because of his injury.

While it's a big thing for the country to participate on this World Cup, it is true that most of the players are looking forward to their titles in the NBA because it's much harder to take it and needs longer time of preparation.

Yeah right, the choice is always with the player same deal with Jamal. He chooses not to continue his participation as he needed to cure his past injury, making sure that he's 100% when the upcoming season begins. Though for those who wanted to proceed and represent their country during the world cup, it's an option that they've got and they are allowed to take pride and try winning the title.

More on how they wanted to be part of the national team and make a history if luck permits that they win the crown.
Yup, that's priority.

But even for Jamal needs to priority his national team, I don't think that he'll be able to do something out of that injury as for sure he'll still be advised to just take a rest.

It's also an exposure for those that don't have much playing time in the NBA. And that's where they can showcase their talents but unlike those that are in the USA team, they're all committed together with their coach Steve Kerr.

They've got a choice whether to proceed and play for their country or they can just choose what they think is best for them. When playing for their country, it's not just about the offer that they're given.

It's about the honor that they're going to give and bring for their country that they're going to play for.

What keeps on my feed are the games being played by the Dominican Republic.

For some of the older US players, especially ones who played on teams that went deep in the playoffs it's just not practical.  They see NBA championships as a goal more than FIBA championships.  Players legacies in the US lean on how many NBA titles do they have.  I can't tell ypu how many FIBA or Olympic titles each player has and not sure how many other people would know without looking it up.  It's just a value proposition they don't want to break down in March and April because of international play.

Yeah, the game was insane.
I couldn't believe it when we had that big lead, but as I write here, I still thought we might lose.
Since it was only an exhibition I think they lost focus a bit and let the US come back to easy and too quick. A couple of back to back 3s and it's an open game again.
What I didn't like is how the US were celebrating after that match, like they achieved anything.
What I liked even less was the unnecessary dunk made by Austin Reaves 8 seconds before the end. There was no defender in sight, they are leading by 6, normally you just run out the clock, But not the US, they want to humiliate the opponent, even if it's just an exhibition.
Especially Austin Reaves should not do that, he was asking to play for team Germany and they had negotiations about that, and when the US came knocking he quickly changed his mind. Under normal conditions he would never play for the US team, but with no big names playing they even take him on.  Grin

Anyway, for the moment I see the chances of winning the cup only at 40-50% for the US team. I think the odds are 1,7 for them meaning odds makers think there is a 58.82% probability for them to win.

If they face a strong team like France and Spain for example, that has a good day, the US will be in trouble.
I was confused too at why they celebrated like that when Austin Reaves made the dunk. It's just a dunk for crying out loud. Cheesy The Germans did not protect the ball well in the last quarter. I think it was stolen a couple of times or more which leads to the USA making fastbreaks.
They can do those blowout heavy dunks when the event starts because I do believe there's also a point system that could make a team win. So they should reserve all those things when it's game time.

Team USA will have to play better when it starts because I doubt Steve Kerr would just let go of their mistakes, especially after what happened against the Germans where they actually almost lost that game.

Okay, so Team USA arrived in Manila today. They didn't waste time and flew to PH after the game against Germany.

They surely have their priorities, instead of representing their country they surely aim for the Salary, well we can judge them if they want to pursue only to play for the NBA game, but for sure sometimes even if they want to play for the Olympics, or the FIBA their management on that team wouldn't allow them because of injuries, or sometimes in the case of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic they will not be playing because they are still resting from the recent NBA championship,

Was it for most of the teams that are having tune up games that there's no way to watch a stream? I think there's a definite reason why they're keeping it closed doors so that these practice or tune up games are well protected and kept private in preparation for their actual games soon.

I think this is because it is only a tune-up game so there is no need to broadcast it, as for sure if they did other teams would rather have some idea on what is the streght of the other teams which is not a great idea for sure so for me it is OK if the tune-up games is not live stream, but there are people that are posting their live video of the game in Youtube so there are still ways in watching the tune-up games for FIBA,

That's true, having their own players that has come from the NBA really boosted them a lot. And for those bigger nations, even they don't have much blood that has come from the NBA, still the individual skills that they have from their players are enormous and great. In the past, they've got NBA players that have influenced them. Or they've got a mentor that has come from the league and that's the one who's giving them tips and trainings that's suitable for them to be able to perform very well on the international stage.

NBA being the top basketball league in the world, contributes a lot to the skill improvement of the players. If someone from Bahamas or Dominican Republic plays along the top players such as Stephen Curry or Kevin Durant, then obviously his level of play increases automatically. Other leagues such as EuroLeague and Liga ACB doesn't have the same quality has NBA and the gap is quite wide. Still, having NBA players in the team alone is not sufficient to win matches. And that will be obvious in 2 weeks or so, when this tournament gets going.

I don't think so that it's like that for those NBA players that will play for FIBA. Most of them are careful and that's why you've said that Team USA doesn't have their best.

And that is because they still think of the future at least for those that have played for FIBA before and then begged off to play for their national team.

Maybe that's just me that doesn't really see that much difference on FIBA and NBA in terms of physicality because of them are.

Yup, for sure those players who begged are concern with their future not against with those players but it's just being practical or there are some other factors that leads them to decide not to play and represent their country, for those who will compete they are bringing the pride of their nationalities and playing hard for the country might give them that inspiration to do well.

All will be witness during the competition and for sure the winner will be the fans who love supporting their nationals and those super stars that will participate during the tournament.

Jamal Murray begged off to Canada's national team for the FIBA world cup.

I have seen that on the news surely because of the grueling game in the NBA championship both Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray can not play for the FIBA I guess the Denver Nuggets also prohibited them from playing aswell so that was it for sure Jamal Murray will not play for Canada and Nikola Jokic is not playing for Serbia,

Exactly, that's why the crowd is upset when the Dean chooses Ravena. Not everyone is aware of their respective roles in basketball; they only compare their overall performance in their respective teams, and it's pretty obvious that Abando has performed well, given that his team has won the championship as well.

Additionally, since Abando has not played yet, I think he deserves to be given a chance. New faces in the game might bring new results to the biggest game of our Gilas Pilipinas.

For me, Rhenz Abando is an upgrade over Kiefer Ravena, well for sure Rhenz Abando is new to the Philippine team so he needs to be ready and practice now because in 1 more day the Philippines will be having their 1st game against the Dominican Republic which will be on August 25, so it is really an interesting game for sure but surely Rhenz Abando would need to practice now for their chemistry to be up and ready,

The Philippines vs. Mexico game is currently being played; unfortunately, there's no live streaming available for this game. It appears to be a closed-door game once again.

From what I can gather from the live stream box score, the first half has already concluded, and the score is tied at 51-51 between the Philippines and Mexico.

Hopefully, the Philippines will win this one after the disappointing loss to Montenegro.

The final score was 84 - 77 and it was a Mexico win, but Jordan Clarkson didn't play in this game while Mexico are all shooters for sure Kai Sotto did play and Ray Parks did not again so he is out in the Philippines team, for sure the final 12 for the Philippines is still not determined yet but it will after the 1st real game starts

And breaking news now Karl Anthony Towns and the Dominican Republic are in the Philippines now so they can rest for a bit and then practice for the game that will be on Philippine Arena Bocaue Bulacan on August 25,

Good score distribution. This is what they need. Involve everyone and let everyone get a chance to score and contribute to the team. Hopefully, even if Clarkson is inside the court, the scoring will not be too focused on him. They need to distribute the ball to prevent the defenders from focusing on Clarkson and limiting him. But with this, I think they are on the right track. I have doubts about Coach Chot before, but I think he is getting the system right for the FIBA World Cup.

I am now excited to see the final 12. I think they are now ready to select the final 12.  Whoever they select to represent the Philippines for the FIBA World Cup, I am sure they have the best players that fit the system they are running.

Unfortunately, Gilas fell short against the mighty Mexico, with a final score of 84-77. However, I believe it's not a major setback as Jordan Clarkson did not participate in that game. He's their best player who was absent, so we can still appreciate the effort of the local players in providing strong competition against a good team.

That is alright. It is a tune-up game. It is better that way so they can see what they need to fix going into the FIBA World Cup. I am sure if Clarkson played, they have won the game, but they will not see the flaws in their system.

This game is quite close at the moment, giving the Philippines a chance to win. Even though Mexico is currently in the lead, it's still too early to draw conclusions. We have the 4th quarter ahead, in case Mexico maintains their lead through the 3rd quarter. Betting on the Philippines in live betting is a good idea, as the odds are likely to be very attractive.

Yeah, it is currently tied at the half. It is a good sign. Philippines needs a win to boost their confidence going to the FIBA world in a few days.

I have a bet on that match, but I think Stake has suspended the line. The score is not updating on their site.

If you see any live stream, please let me know, I very much want to watch the game even if it is only the second half.

There is also a friendly game between Brazil and Serbia. Serbia is a heavy favorite in this match up and I think my bet on them is safe. They are now ahead by 7 points.

Damn, Germany is looking sharp. I was honestly thinking to bet on them when the odds went to around 9. I then decided to just make a small wager on Germany +16,5 points.

And right now, with 4min to go in the 4th Germany is up 69:55.  Grin

That's a great motivational boost for them, no matter if they end up losing this game. They showed they can compete, and that's the most important part.
I just watched the highlights instead. It was a competitive game. All those who took the spreads at +14.5 is still a winner. It could've been better though if they can protect that big lead that they worked so hard to achieve. But still, this shows that the USA can be beaten. They sure have a lot of young talents but so are the other countries just like how the Germans showed it. Correct, this is a boost to the confidence of the other countries that somehow they have a chance even if they are against the number 1 favorite.

So that's the last game for Team USA. Looking at the schedules, I think that's also the last friendly game for Team Germany. 4 more days.

Since the advent of international players entering the NBA, international competition has gotten better and better. USA cannot say anymore that they dominate the sports of basketball. European countries can compete in equal grounds with USA in international competitions nowadays.

Hopefully someday, I can say the same with Asian countries. Asians are slowly getting taller and more athletic. And there are some asians getting in NBA so maybe in few more years we will be able to compete competitively against the giants of basketball.

That's true nowadays.

Even before, there have been upsets with the Team USA from other teams like Argentina, Spain and others. It gives a team a boost of confidence because someone from NBA really plays on a different level.

But aside from that, if the whole team is lousy and don't contribute a lot to the team on this FIBA World Cup then having one on the side is not really going to be enough to make it.

NBA and FIBA are quite distinct, with FIBA being a highly physical game where teams focus solely on winning for their country without concern for the future. When a European team wins, it's not surprising due to their hard-playing style, which characterizes their league as very physical. The players representing the USA aren't necessarily the best in the NBA. Despite their impressive performance in tune-up games, I remain skeptical about their ability to dominate in the actual competition.
