Canada win by 30 points - probably nobody didn't saw this coming. I made mistake by understimating Canada, seems that this year they really have team which can achieve something and this win is serious statement.
Philippines had great chance to win against really solid team, but on last minutes they didn't had their leader Jordan Clarkson and they didn't found other player who can lead them in decisive moments.
Lithuania achieved solid win against Egypt, but our game was far from perfect. We only got solid lead after halftime and we finally started hitting 3-pointers.

It's a heartbreaking loss for the Philippines They are doing great all throughout the game it's in the last two minutes two that they falter their defense is not good they let the Dominican Rebublican score easily I hope they are going to be well organized next time they are touted as the best Gilas team to compete in FIBA.

They start to crumble after JC foul out due to the questionable offensive foul call. That referee that made same call are the one that give late foul call against Fajardo even if he on the farthest side of the court. I’m just concerned on why Chot Reyes never challenge any decision by the refs.

Also coach choke failed to utilize all of his player that makes the starting 5 player too exhausted on the last quarter of the game. Kiefer and Abando show a good run yet they only get few playing time. Also CJ doesn’t get any playtime while he is so good. Coach choke needs to a rotation to players and stop abusing JC.

Same thought, when the referee called foul out to JC for sure it has affected the teams performance. It's questionable call but the reason why it was never challenged due to they might be wrong as well. Their score is actually close before their defense starts to crumble, if only they've managed to handle it before DOM shot a lot points maybe they are ahead at points in the last minutes in the 4th quarter.

This is also my thought, due to their exhaustion most likely the players are starting to do some wrong call cause if you're tired it not only affect the physical of a person but the mind as well. So there's no wonder they are starting to lose at the remaining time. Rotation is a must, even in other sports, that's why team consist of a lot of players so they could trade. There's a lot of players in the Philippines who has a potential, such waste of talents. No need to blame coach Chot, it's a good game to DOM and PH and congrats to DOM.

In my opinion, We shouldn't blame the coach for the game loss because it's normal that he can't give everybody playing time if he already find a comfortable line-up that already working against the enemy team which on this case they did since they have a very close fight on all quarters.

The player difference in skills is what makes us lose in the end because we are facing Karl Anthony Towns here that carrying Wolves even on NBA with tougher opponents. We should be proud that we manage to have very close game against this team with number 1 draft pick on USA with strong other team mates. We are just butthurt on the lose that's why we keep finding someone to blame as the typical pinoy fan.

The game was actually close not until the last few minutes when a lot of turnovers happened. Too many free throws that didn't count as well.
I was cheering them while I was watching and shouting like it's not night here in our country. KAT did it the veteran way, it seems that it's not yet his full performance. During the last minutes, it seems that most of the players were tired and when JC was fouled out, they don't wanna move anymore. Those double three-point shots of Peña was the actual turning point and momentum of the Dominicana. Still, props to the Gilas team. We have never thought that the match will end up this close.

They are going to meet Angola in the next match which lost to Italy, The Philippine team lost to Angola the last time they met in FIBA 84- 81 in overtime, I hope they can avenge their blowout loss to Angola.

Turnovers and those forced three point attempts of the Gilas was really the thing that loses their momentum, too bad they could have won that. Lot of dribbles outside the paint and they can't even push it through that's why they tend to force it on three points. KAT can easily make fouls and as a good free throw shooter that was a turning point as well for them. With those rumors that it will be a blown out game by the Dominican Republic, it was really surprising it's this close.

While on the other match, Canada and France was a surprising game. The crowd favorite France lost to Canada.
95-65!
That's a lot of lead for Canada and I am one of those folks who have been thinking that France will be the desired team on this FIBA world cup. But it seems that this WC is full of surprises everywhere and for every team that we're thinking that's going to do well.
That is a blown out game, but with France as the opponent it was that shocking because their roster has only one non-NBA player (past and present) though it shouldn't be a basis that they'll dominate.

It’s really impressive how Gilas manage to keep the game even with KAT32 aggression. Clarkson already had his rhythm after his cold game on the starting of the game. I’m not sure what’s wrong with Clarkson ball handling but he seems like easy to lose the ball even with an open space before he attack.

Kiefer already redeemed himself against all his basher after performing a very good quarter to cut DR lead to tie. He is really good point guard on this game because he can optimize and dictate his teammates well to have a good shooting position. Hoping that Gilas will win tonight against this strong DR.

I believe the majority didn't anticipate that the Philippines would make the game this interesting. Even though KAT scored well in the second half, Clarkson's consistency remains, and he continues to contribute effectively for his country. He shows no sign of tiring and is determined to secure this win. I'm thoroughly enjoying watching the game; I'm taking a brief break to share my thoughts here.

Let's go, Philippines! Those x5 odds are looking promising.

Unfortunately Philippines Fall short in the 4th quarter as JC was fouled out.

Final score 87-81, Philippines still covered the spread.  Smiley

Yes, congrats to those who got the Philippines at early line +12.5 and 11.5 as they covered the spread. And they almost pulled a upset if not for Jordan Clarkson fouling out with just 3++ minutes to play.

Philippines after that doesn't have any offensive weapon, and it seems that they are at lost without Clarkson.

So kudos to Dominican Republic and KAT as he dominated the Pinoys when he go the ball at low post and seems just barreling inside for a score.

They appeared lost because their playing strategy revolved solely around Clarkson. Unfortunately, their upcoming opponents already seem to have figured out how to counter this approach. For instance, if the Philippines doesn't adapt, opponents could exploit this by getting Clarkson into foul trouble, causing the team to face difficulties on offense.

Plenty of mistakes were found which results into a plenty of turnovers as well, I could say that the Domincana also have their own mistakes, but the Gilas seems to have some difficulties to convert it to points which was a downside to the team. And yes, it's evident that the team's system is only revolving around Clarkson and they don't have that much confidence to make their own move to give a points to the team.

That was a nice game by the Philippines, I didn't expect them to make it that close. And nice atmosphere in the arena, this shows how much they love the sports.

To be honest, I made a small parley with all the favourites today, so basically micro odds. PH almost spoiled this bet for me, I was nervous for a quite bit in the 4th quarter!

Germany had their expected easy win against Japan, even after taking the foot of the gas in the 2nd half of the game.

Mo Wagner had a great stat line and 25 points, maybe in the next match he should be our starter! Anyway, now I'm watching Canada vs France. Right now Canada is pulling away a bit leading by 12, I expected it to be close and France winning at the end, but there is still plenty of time.

Finland had a good first 15 minutes and I thought, damn if they can keep up with Australia it can be a real fight with Germany as well.

That's when Finland was leading 38:30 midway the 2nd quarter,
And from that point, it was ALL Australia.
In the end Australia gets a blow out win with 98:72 , basically 68:34 in the last 25 minutes, total destruction.

I am happy because a Finland win would have put a lot of pressure on my German team. But with this result everything is still "according to plan"  Grin

At the moment every game is going as expected so far, this should be the case until the final game of the day when France faces Canada in an even match.

Thanks mate, I wanted to put a beat here and so it's done already.

Next stop is the host country vs Dominican Republic. I might go with the Philippines just for fun as they are the host country and a huge underdog, lots of what if they pull an upset @5.70.

And for insurance I might also go with them +11.5 at 1.86. Thinking that they want to make a good showing in their first game.

Best of luck to those who are going to put good money in this game or at least get some fun.

Yeah, Courtside 1891 is official streaming of tournament. It works well, but it's not cheap. Don't remember exact price, but there you will get all games in high quality and English commentary. You also can check on Wiki local TV braodcasters for each country
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_FIBA_Basketball_World_Cup_broadcasting_rights
I can't find the price range for the subscription fee on the site you recommended. Maybe it's necessary to sign up first before we can see the prices. Anyway, if that's expensive, then I guess I would just rely on free streams. I think there are plenty out there, right? Has anyone here been able to watch free streams during the last FIBA World Cup?
I just saw a $37 subscription fee annually, I'm not sure though if this is a legit rate.
Though it says there that you can actually subscribe for free and get free updates, though its not live but still you just have to sign up on their site. I'm not trying this one since our national television with have its live telecast, we're lucky for this.
Thanks, mate! That was a cheap option, but since someone has already shared a free streaming link, I'll just forget about that site, hehe. The game will start in an hour and 15 minutes, so are you guys already excited?

There haven't been many changes in the betting odds and spread; you can still get an attractive 5.80 odds for Gilas to win.

Let's place a small bet to have some fun, guys!

Thanks bro. This is perfect timing now that my iptv subscription already expired and I don’t want to spend expensive subscription on my cable provider.

Meanwhile, Angola vs Italy is playing already, Angola had a strong start but Italy was able to take the lead now.

It's still a close game though so this is fun.  Smiley

We might witness an upset win by Angola here; Italy can't seem to dominate the game despite being the heavy favorites to win before the game. FIBA is usually quite predictable, though. Live betting is the best way to make money here, as it allows us to assess how the teams are playing. In this particular game, I took a +8.5 live bet, so hopefully, the game will remain close even if Angola doesn't win.

Italy manage to finish strong on the last quarter. Angola struggle to answer back to Italia aggression since they can't penetrate Italy defense to make an inside attack. They already commit a lot of miscommunication that cause them turn over.

Angola failed to cover your +8.5 bet because they seems in panic already after the Italy strong defense and offense.

Yeah, just like any team that's near to their game day. Their key player has to be preserved so that no unnecessary things could happen like being injured during these tune up games.

Yup! For sure Chot Reyes's strategy is that Jordan Clarkson will be their ultimate weapon against the Dominican Republic and for sure this is Kai Sotto's chance to showcase his skills and what he can do against the Dominican Republic and against Karl-Anthony Towns because if he can stop Towns with his blocking that will be a gold performance for him and it is likely a chance for him getting into an NBA team,

You should have your boss and HR to take a leave for that purpose, they'll understand it.  Tongue
It's exciting as we're getting closer to the actual date of the matches.
