Liverpool and Barcelona have not given up hope of signing Bayern Munich and Austria defender David Alaba, despite Real Madrid being close to a deal. Everyone seems to want Alaba and the question is what does he want? Grin

Madrid may be close to sealing off Alaba's deal but Liverpool and Barcelona were interested long before Madrid picked interest. I guess it's not always over until it's over. However, David Alaba prefers to be signed by Real Madrid. Says it's his "dream" to play for the Los Blancos side.

This guys career is in the garbage can. He had the chance to go to a team that nurtures young players & gives them a chance but instead he decided to join Real Madrid. How many youth players make it big at Real, the answer is very few. (...)

Every young player's dream is to play for a big team at some point in their career. That's why majority of young players don't hesitate to sign a contract whenever a big team comes knocking on their door. It's a similar case with Odegaard. It's hard to get first team football at Real Madrid especially when you have the likes of Modric and Kroos. Even Isco suffers from lack of first team football.

One of the less hyped transfer markets ever, nobody can spend money cause of the pandemic.

I was expecting at least some big swaps creating "fake" money in the team's balance for the Financial fair play but nothing.
Its true they will have time to do after the end of the season but man, this session is boring.

Yep nothing very intersting happens at the moment. I don't know if we will so some big transfers in the last day of the transfer window but I guess not. All the clubs just want to keep their money in their pockets now they got less income during this pandemic.

Tottenham are getting ready for making an offer for Southampton striker Danny Ings in the summer. He also wants to go to a club that will play in the Champions League. I think he could be a nice alternative when Kane isn't able to play.

https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/tottenham-transfer-news-exclusive-spurs-lining-up-summer-move-for-southampton-s-danny-ings_sto8074524/story.shtml

Tottenham don't have many options in the subs for the striker position. Kane is doing very good. But if he gets injured, there is only one alternative for that position who is Carlos Vinicius. He is on loan at Tottenham though.
it will be difficult to get Ings to Spurs i think he left Liverpool at first place so he can get more playing time and if he is offered to choose between Liverpool and Tottenham he would choose Liverpool because he got much better chance to fight off Firmino then Kane. As he is first the best English striker and we know that EPL teams like to keep their English stars even when they are in a bad shape while Firmino is hard to compare with Kane. Ings may want to play in Champions League but if he goes to Tottenham he wouldn't be playing any.

transfer rumours:

Facundo Medina from rc lens
Quote
Manchester United are interested in signing Argentinian centre-back Facundo Medina from RC Lens, La Voix du Nord reports. The 21-year-old made 11 Ligue 1 appearances before he recently struggled with a minor knee injury. According to the French newspaper, the Red Devils are “very serious” about making a move and consider an offer of over €12 million.

Sokratis from arsenal london
Quote
Arsenal have cancelled defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos’ contract by mutual consent. The 32-year-old joined the north London club from Borussia Dortmund in July 2018 for €16 million and went on to make 69 appearances. Under head coach Mikel Arteta, he no longer played a role and was not registered for the Premier League squad this season. With the termination of his contract, he becomes the fourth most valuable player without a club.

Life, Love and Laughter...
According to Telegraph, Manchester City manager pep Guardiola is ready to spend £200 million on the right players in this summer. One of the targets of him is Inter striker Romelu Lukaku (27). He could be a good choice for City as Aguero seems to be leaving the team at the end of the season and G. Jesus is not having a good season.
Lukaku to man city is a big rumour nothing else.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/01/16/pep-guardiola-oversee-man-citys-200m-summer-transfer-spree/
Lukaku is not PEp type of striker, PEp prefer ball playing striker and not just a natural standing 9, this is the same problem he is having with Ageuro. G. Jesus is a perfect kind of PEp player.

Agree, Lukaku is not a striker Pep prefers. The ideal striker for Pep is a type like Robert Lewandowski. A tall, playful and technically strong striker who has a natural understanding of match situations. But Lewandowski is too old now and I think he will end his career at Bayern Munich. Maybe he will go to the MLS for one or two years, like many do.

Doesn’t even have to be tall..  Being a proponent of tika taka, Pep usually prefers midfielders and would play all midfielders at the front if he could win consistently doing it.

Anyway...  And if Pep really does want Lukaku then I think he’s prolly changing his style to adapt with English football.  It’s just all around tougher imho.

Inter Milan and Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku, has no interest in joining Manchester City. Is that finally the end of this story? Lukaku doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

How many youth players make it big at Real, the answer is very few. Now he’s paying the price for stagnating in the youth teams & reserves, not being able to develop & he’s stood still in his career. He needs to move & play regularly, he is wasting his career at Real.

Even the former Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger, was happy to find out about Ozil's move to Fenerbahce. Because if Ozil insists on staying at Arsenal,
his football career could be ruined. Finally, Ozil can show his skills again, since March 7, 2020, he has never played in all tournaments. And if we
look at Ozil's career at Arsenal for 7 years is quite extraordinary, Ozil managed to score 33 goals and 54 assists in his 184 appearances for Arsenal.

Almost one year of not playing, well, either Ozil will be super good when he starts again (like most good players are if they manage to keep their fitness) or he finds out he shouldn't have strayed away for too long. I guess 87 goals/assists for 184 appearances isn't too bad, and yet I think people remember when he wasn't playing so well:)

As I said weeks ago, Mesut Özil is at Fenerbahçe. I can clearly say this year's transfer. I can say that there has been a great development in Turkish football.
I am happy for Fenerbahce. They finally succeeded in finishing the Mesut Ozil transfer. He has not played for more than 1 year but he is a very good and talented player. I believe that he will adapt to the team and show a nice performance.

Florentino Perez today was in Turin at Juventus base and he did a meeting with Agnelli.
We only know the length of this meeting, 3 hours nothing more for now.

What is going on between Real and Juve?

The "Hunter" is back in the Bundesliga. Schalke have announced the signing of striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from Ajax. The 37-year-old's comeback is a small sliver of hope in what appears to be a futile attempt to stay in the Bundesliga.

^ Alaba rumors keep coming for Liverpool but I'd really like to see Mata go to Valencia, that club's been horrendous all season long and that would be the perfect fit for me. Mata was never suited to United, and he has zero pace left for his position, but that would be a new fulcrum to help bring Valencia back to steady ground.

In other regular situations I am sure Huntelaar would have ended his career at Ajax if nothing else happened, however Schalke is not looking good this year and they are reaching to him as a savior for them, and probably offered him more than just money, probably some coaching chances at youth teams and all (which I am sure ajax probably did as well) and other stuff, but going to a team to save them versus staying with a team to be champions are different feelings.

When you are so sure about championship and you know that you are not the reason for it, giving yourself a challenge must feel a lot better, plus this guy has lived so many success in his life, I am sure another championship wasn't really that big of a deal, but if he goes to Schalke and manages to help the team not relegate and they stay at Bundesliga another season? That would be awesome ending for him.

Probably he would be a back up option at best at most clubs,,, not sure about Schalke but I guess they are so desperate now, if the guy is as good as he was in the past and can handle the pressure of all those expectations, it could be a good marriage.

But to lure a player away these days from clubs they love and who love them back, it is more than money.

Chelsea are preparing for breaking their transfer record by signing Dortmund striker Erling Haaland (20) this summer. His release clause which is £66.6m won't become active until 2022. I think he should go to a better team than Chelsea if he leaves Dortmund.

https://theathletic.com/2327390/2021/01/18/haaland-ozil-football-soccer/?source=emp_shared_article

I agree with you on this. Erling Haaland is a very talented striker. I would like to see him at a team like Real Madrid. He could do very good things there. But Chelsea don't seem to me like a good choice for him.
