Honestly, I don't understand this team anymore.
You don't understand it because what they do isn't like you expected, mate.  Grin
As an MU fan, now you need to appreciate what they already did. It may be the best that Ole can do to improve the team.

Their backline is garbage, and they bought another striker!
After the Ferdinand-Vidic era, we don't see solid defenders anymore.
We cannot blame Ole, even Mourinho have tried to improve MU squad but you know what the result is.

Anyways, I predict United struggle to be top-6, and Spurs will be in the top-3.
I think it should struggle on top 10.  Cheesy
You said their defenders are garbage, the top 6 is too high expectation. You may need to lower your expectation. he.

Well in the end Cavani was a free agent for Manchester so good sign for them.

I can't find info about his salary, is true his signed for over m€ for the season?  Shocked

Approx £200,000 according to various UK media, seems a lot for somebody his age but it was a free transfer so you have to balance that out. Wonder if he got a juicy signing on fee.

Compared to Mourinho's transfer plan, Ole doesn't know how to assemble a balanced team.

They need LB, CB, and DM.

I'm not surprised with Man Utd's recent signings because they spent majority of the transfer window period chasing Jadon Sancho and ended up not signing him. Considering how weak their team performances has been towards the end of last season down to the most recent Premier league matchday, I expected more much better signings. Nonetheless, they did sign a left-back (Alex Telles) to help bolster its already weak defence. But I'm not convinced this would fix their defense problems.

Signing Cavani too was a good deal. Their frontline is as weak as their defense so it should be a win situation if he (Cavani) lives up to expectations and delivers.

Remember the market is not closed for free agents, they still can change the team.

Also, the next winter session is from 4th January till 1st February. (if nothing else will change it)

They bought Alex Telles who is a LB but I agree that they need some good CB's as well. They are focusing too much on mid and striker right now. Seriously their sense of tagetting players in transfer seems to have gone totally off.

Like Evra said in post match after the game against Spurs. Its not problem with managers.. their management needs to change.

I am also surprised by the purchases made by Manchester United, they are focused on looking for wingers, midfielders and strikers.
Even though their defense is very bad, if you look at the Manchester United vs Tottenham match, it was clear how Maguire and Bailly
went wrong a lot. Manchester United need a good center defender. That's why I was even more surprised when Manchester United tried
to bring in Jadon Sancho, even though in the end it failed. And the purchase of Van de Beek in my opinion is not quite right, for Alex Telles
is still good as a cover for Luke Shaw who is easily injured and bringing in Cavani is no problem because of the free transfer.

Really unsure on Cavani, he’s 33 & will be on big wages, can he perform in a physical & fast paced league at 33?

IIRC they were also after Mandzukic at one point. Guess they were looking after someone who has experience in central forward position regardless of how old they are. They already have Ighalo on loan from Shenhua who is 31. Regarding your question, I also have doubts over Cavani performing in PL since he is already this old and is coming from not much fast league as PL. Only way to see is to watch him in action.
Any one know where is Mandzukic now? after not get any time minutes for playing last season for Juventus his name was close and not make score again, I think Mandzukic is great player and look potential as foward, but always coach have different for their player who will be in their strategy in match, we know how many good player not get enough time for playing like Luis Suarez have move from Barcelona after Ronald Koeman not like him.

Last I know about Mandzukic was that he moved to Qatar team Al-Duhail from Juventus. He struggled playing there for quite a bit and then both the team and Mandzukic terminated the contract with mutual consent. So right now seems like he is free agent-not sure though. What a waste  Undecided

He was in Russia getting ready to sign for one of their teams, forgot which one Smiley Anyway the story goes they tried to cheat him in the contract signing and he left disappointed. They had agreed on amount in EUR and then put contract in Rubles with some very bad exchange rate + inflation towards EUR. When I say bad, I mean instead of 6M he gets 4M, something utterly ridiculous. All then numbers are just from my head since I read it a couple a days ago and can't find the link anymore but the gist of the story is correct.

Nah, of course not. It's another silly Woodward's deadline day 'let's please the fans' idiotism.
They have both Martial and Rashford upfront, with Greenwood that's the best part of their team. Cavani is still probably decent enough but he's been playing in France for 5+ years and he'll struggle for sure.

Even if Cavani turns out great, it solves none of the problems United is having. And they are paying him like he'll solve all of them.

If they weren't so rich, they'd get relegated with Woodward.

Partey will be a great addition to the Arsenal team. He's tactically really good, physically a monster and he is a hard player to press.
They will finally have a stable option in midfield, a player they can rely on. It is among the best transfers in this window - at least in my opinion.

On the other hand, the inability to bring Depay (as well as Garcia) might cost Barcelona. Their team looks weak compared to what we're used to seeing.

News coming so fast it's impossible to track anymore.

Dembele to United seemed almost done, now Barcelona wants him to sign a 1-year extension before allowing him to leave on loan which he does not want to do.
Tottenham trying really hard to get a centre-back, Skriniar deal seems off but now they want Rudiger. Chelsea would like to sell but not to Spurs.

Really a crazy day, I hate transfer windows during the season. I hope it returns to how it was last season, this looks like a bunch of kids playing Fifa. Give me anything that's available.

Yes,,, me I just wait for everything to be proper and announced. Many disappointments in the past and for me the speculation sometimes is not even there, until created randomly by so many people. Like the way United's transfers are done it seems it is less to fit the manager's demands and more to appease the fans own demands!

I think this is good news for Man. United fans. Signing a top striker like Cavani should improve the power on the front liners of Man. United squad. I know they have already some good strikers like Martial and Rashford. But Cavani is an experienced striker, more than those young strikers. It will be very useful when you play in international competitions such as the Champions League and European League. Great job Man United!!  Smiley
Edison Cavani arrival to Manchester united is a great boost to the team. Man utd can't rely only on Anthony Martial because his ain't a natural central forward, that's why he has not been consistent in scoring. But with the arrival of Edison Cavani, the team will witness a great comeback and improvement. He is strong and aggressive, a nightmare for defenders. Take it to the bank Edison Cavani is a player to bet on any day. I wish him well in Manchester united.

The transfer window is officially closed. Here are a couple of "big" deals that didn't push through despite the talks and rumors:

❌ Memphis Depay to Barça.
❌ Ousmane Démbélé to Man Utd.
❌ Eric Garcia to Barça.
❌ Jadon Sancho to Man Utd

Not signing Depay means that Barcelona would have to cope with Greizeman's ability to impress and score goals. About Sancho's failed move, I knew it was going to hit a brick wall since the asking price was too high and he might just end up flopping at the premier league anyway. That wraps it all.

What was your best signing throughout the duration of the just concluded transfer window?
