PSG got another draw which resulted in losing the lead to Monaco in the standings. It is really nice to see though. It brings some more competition to the title race you know.  Grin

Nice tried to defend with all they had in the second half and it really worked for at least getting a draw. PSG really started to slow down recently. First losing to Ajax like that and now this point loss...

Do you think we will see more of it on the upcoming weeks? I think it won't last long at least in the Ligue 1. Because you know how big the gap between PSG and the rest of the teams normally.
It is very interesting to see such form of competition in the French Ligue1, something that has been missing in this league for some decades. The French Ligue1 which some people may also refer to as a farmer's league as a way of making mockery of the league due to the way some clubs have dominated the league in the past for quite a long time, so like I said earlier, it is such a good sight to see other clubs standing at the top of the log so as to put some pressure on the PSG and probably ending up clinching the title and change the narrative about the french league, for me, it's a very healthy competition and a welcome development.

Hehehehe, I guess it's only the tough ones that keep on going when things get rough. What can I say? PSG performed as was expected; why did I say it was expected? They lost to Arsenal in the champions league and couldn't channel their anger and use it to get good results against Nice but they just wasted chances that should have been converted and at some point Nice started playing like they should. PSG were the better side no doubt but sometimes when you underestimate a team, it usually does not end well.
Luis Enrique has gotten an apology from Dembele and the Frenchman was a starter in their game yesterday yet they couldn't get good results. Somehow the number of competitions some of these clubs are in also play a major role in their performance because you can't be overworked and be expected to put in your best if not PSG should have dismantled Nice on a normal day.
Before the match started, of course, no one doubted if PSG would win the match, a draw or a loss in my opinion would not cross the minds of gamblers for the final result of the PSG match in ligue 1 so far, so it surprising for us to see the final result of the PSG match againts Nice , especially throughout the match PSG was able to dominate possession and create many chances,  but we have to admit if Nice managed to play and defend quite well in the match.
The draw from Nice was disappointing for PSG, the fans and the bettors who favoured PSG in that match (including me), but in terms of competition, of course I hope this season we will see a more competitive competition in Ligue 1, losing PSG points should be able to trigger and motivate for Marseille, Reims, Lille and Monaco to be more consistent and better in the trophy competition this season, because with PSG failure to win full points, of course it provides an advantage and an opportunity for them to continue to press or stay away from PSG in the standings.

Again and again for this week match, something unexpected happened, previously Marseille failure against Angers and yesterday match between PSG and Nice which also ended in draw with score of 1 - 1.
I predicted that PSG could win easily because they are the favorites and are the seeded team, but never mind this is also not the first time PSG has failed to win because in the previous match they were also only held to draw by lower team like when they played against Reims.
Nice played well only in the first half because after that they looked much more safe by dominantly playing by strengthening their back position, PSG dominance was amazing and they put tremendous pressure on every attack attempt but I admit Nice has pretty great goalkeeper, Marcin Bulka was very instrumental in Nice success in holding PSG to draw yesterday.
The reason for this is that most of the match are now between strong team which has made the game more difficult for both team to defend themselves.  I have seen the match between Marseille and Anger, there is also a draw and the same sequence has happen between PSG.  If you look at the good perform of PSG and Nice match, then PSG is strong.PSG should have won this match, but they work as hard as they could and as much as they stopped the goal of Nice player their hard work is visible here as well. We can not blame PSG that you did not lose the match but prevented it from losing. But the same draw can be convert into points in the next matches. When Nice player score PSG were not weak, they were smart and did not give away chance.

Yes, that's how sometimes football is difficult to predict. I also initially thought PSG would beat Nice with a big score because Nice was not in good condition but it turned out that Nice was able to hold PSG to a draw. It was a good result for them because PSG is a club that is difficult to beat but because the draw made PSG's position shift to 2nd place below Monaco with a difference of 2 points. I think Monaco and Marseille will be obstacles for PSG in winning the League 1 title this season because the competition between these three clubs is still quite fierce.

Simply put, when PSG play in domestic competitions, they are almost always reliable. Their defeat in the Champions League cannot be a complete reference, because Arsenal are in their best form. Nice certainly has the opportunity to secure points, because they are advantaged by acting as hosts, but the presentation of the opportunities they have is quite low. I predict PSG will be able to bring home 3 points, even though they have to work extra hard. AS Monaco currently leads the standings with 19 points, they certainly hope Nice can block PSG steps today.
And Nice was indeed able to block PSG's steps in the match until the match result was a draw even though Nice had taken the lead in the match in the first half. That was truly an extraordinary step for Nice at home so that because of the draw, PSG must now be in second place with a gap of two points from AS Monaco in the current Ligue1 standings. And it seems that this season Ligue1 will be even fiercer in terms of competition because several other teams have taken advantage of PSG's condition which is no longer strengthened by Mbappe this season as their opportunity to win Ligue1.
It's actually surprising that my initial prediction that Paris Saint Germaine were going to defeat Nice didn't actually turn out the way I initially thought. I wasn't just disappointed because PSG failed to win but because I also lost some fortunes because of that draw.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting Nice to be that resistant against a Paris Saint Germaine but they actually played like a team who was all out for a win but will be okay with a draw. Despite the result, PSG is still leading the league standings before the international but it seems like the competition in the French Ligue 1 this season will be very fierce.

Nice (confirmed lineup): Marcin Bulka, Youssouf Ndayishimiye, Moise Bombito, Dante, Jonathan Clauss, Ali Abdi, Hicham Boudaoui, Tanguy Ndombele, Mohamed-Ali Cho, Jeremie Boga, Evann Guessand.

PSG (confirmed lineup): Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Nuno Mendes, Warren Zaire-Emery, Fabian Ruiz, Joao Neves, Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani, Bradley Barcola.

PSG have set to go against nice after losing their last match against Arsenal, they are playing away game against nice but currently nice performance looks so bad to the extent that they only won a match in their last five game, draw two and lost two while psg only suffered defeat against arsenal but let be realistic Arsenal are in a better form to beat PSG so I don't  think PSG own me any explanation because they faced their superior.

Not feeling this match has brought to PSG down to the second position and I think even though a lot of people including me did praise PSG a lot because of the coach and good tactics, I still do not think that they have anything to be worried about because they are only on the second position. They still have a lot of time left in this season and I am pretty sure that they are going to get back to the first position very quickly. Monaco is obviously giving a good fight and is on the first position right now but I don’t think they will be able to be consistent enough. At least not till the end of the season. And PSG is going to take that chance and win the league title again.

But PSG will have to improve their performance quickly. After a loss against Arsenal in the Champions League, now they have got only one point from this match. This is definitely raising some questions towards them.

And this time, in this week's match, Reims also seems to be going to get a full victory over their opponent Montpellier.
3 - 1 position now, Reims leading.
Reims did good indeed but it is only the beginning and they should keep up the good work if they want to stay in top. Lille and other used to be top teams are behind them and they can jump at any moment in front of them.
In this round I was quite shocked by Marseille and how they failed against the weakest team in Ligue 1, a draw against Angers? Very promising..
Yes, it's true, consistency is very important for a club to continue to survive and develop to a higher ranking. And this is usually quite difficult to do. As happened to Marseille, they looked very good, but lately the results have been disappointing several times. Even on matchday this week the result was a draw.

Source: Ligue 1’s leader at the moment

Not only that, PSG is also the same. even on matchday this they could only draw against Nice. Yes, although Nice can sometimes bother top clubs. And now Monaco is the top leading in the standing of the French League with a difference of 2 points from PSG.

Lyon has been on a recovery trend in recent weeks.Lyon managed to increase its points to 10 after beating Nantes 2-0 at home. There was a draw in the battle of 2 teams competing for a draw in the league.Although Lens closed the first half ahead, Strasbourg managed to get a point from the match with a penalty goal in the 60th minute.2 In the last match of the day, Nice made the giant team of the league to lose points. With a 1-1 draw against PSG, they both knocked their rival out of the leadership and managed to get an important draw.

Sharing points equally became the fate of PSG as they drew the game against Nice, a 1-1 draw wasn't the kind of result expected of PSG but then it turned out that was the final result. in this game, PSG had more of the possession and the dominance of the game shifted towards them a little but they were challenge with been able to beat the defense of Nice to get more goals to help them win the game.  the dominance of PSG in that game was just too much to have them settling for a draw, they even had more chances to get an extra goal but couldn't convert the chances into the needed goal.

It's a very disappointing result to see PSG get a draw against Nice. They dominated possession, mostly playing in the final third. But, they were still dropping two points. And i see none of their midfielders or attackers were able to perform consistently.

They were trying so hard to break Nice's barrier, but they always failed. Their attackers, Kolo, always made good runs, but he always lost control over the ball. And i don't see anything positive from their performance.

And i think this is the main effect Enrique has not decided to buy a number 9.

Coach Luis Enrique's situation is not good. PSG has always aimed to win the European Champions League and this squad has shown that it is mission impossible to win the European Champions League this season. To make matters worse, in Ligue 1 they are not very strong, without Mbappe and they have not signed players capable of replacing Mbappe, so PSG is in no condition to give the Champions League to its fans and management. I read a recent article in which it talks about how Luis Enrique's situation could be very complicated, this is the article:

Problems for Luis Enrique, the main target at PSG

If the coach in the next transfer window does not make big signings in order to make the team competitive to the level of winning the European Champions League, then I see him not lasting long as PSG coach.

Losing to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League last week I don't think is going to have a big effect on Paris Saint Germaine players as they travel to face Nice later this evening. Paris Saint Germaine have been the dominant team in the French Ligue 1 this season and even when we know they'll be playing away this evening, I'm very optimistic that they'll still take all three points from Nice. Paris Saint Germaine forward Ousmane Dembele seems to have found his form again and I think he's the man to look out for at Nice this evening
in that game, both teams did played well, i mean Arsenal had a better chance which was well utilized but both teams did performed so well and one was deserving of the win. PSG not been able to win the game did not mean they weren't a better side but they did so well in that game and as for the game against Nice later, i don't want to believe the champions league game after effect is going to be a problem that will stop them from been able to win or get a draw in this game, if they give their best in this game, they can be sure to still get something if t game.

About PSG in the Champions League, I personally will still admit that PSG still needs greater efforts to be able to compete with the top teams playing in the Champions League. Because for me PSG is still quite weak in the Champions League compared to other top teams from different which leagues playing in the Champions League. With that reason, I personally still recognize PSG's defeat for losing with a score of 2-0, it was definitely a bad result experienced by PSG a team that has great dominance in Ligue 1.

Also in the away match against Nice that has ended, at first I was also quite sure PSG would still be able to win despite playing away. But anyway, in fact PSG also conceded first by Nice and the final score was 1-1 and with that draw, the top position of the Ligue 1 standings is  currently placed by Monaco and PSG is in second place with a 2-point gap with Monaco who is currently at the top of the Ligue 1 standings.

PSG lost 2-0 against Arsenal in the Champions League match. Arsenal is a very strong and experienced team. And in this match we considered Arsenal as favourites. Even then PSG had a chance to win. But PSG's attacking players could not score any goals despite several powerful attacks. Because Arsenal's defense is very strong. But a similar result against Nice is highly unlikely.

In the last match of Ligue 1, PSG team won against Rennes with a margin of 3-1. PSG won the match. PSG players performed very well. Nice is not very strong against PSG in today's match. Nice has managed to win only two out of six matches. So PSG is unlikely to drop points against Nice. Even without Dembele in the squad, PSG's squad is strong enough. Moreover, Luis Enrique is a very experienced coach. He will definitely try his best to win the match. I am willing to bet PSG to win.
IMO PSG are not at their best form recently after recording 4 points in three games. The game against Arsenal showed PSG are not so tough after all because against Arsenal they failed to score a goal and conceded two. The next game they won and drew to Nice yesterday though it was an away game, PSG had the greater odds to win. By all metrics, PSG should have been able to win Nice even if they are not in top form.

Marseille seems to be getting worse and worse, these are not acceptable results, not against these teams at least. I doubt they will go back to last years position, they will finish better than last year, but they are not going to finish that high, not at top three if they keep this up. That's the most important part, fourth place goes to UCL qualifiers and that is worst they can do, anything lower than that and they spent money for nothing, it wouldn't be worth it at all to be just in Europa league, they could do that with less money, it wouldn't be profitable. And if they get these results a few more times then top four would be a pipe dream for them. They need to recover and fix whatever is wrong and win some games.
It’s a poor start to the season but then again the season is still fresh. They have time to work harder on improving their performance going ahead. They have a young and good manager who is capable of replicating what he did at Brighton with a young squad, Roberto De Zerbi has a even better squad at Marseille. I think he will do well if he is given time to build the squad.

PSG although rated higher, encountered many difficulties when playing away at Allianz Riviera. With this result, PSG had to endure the pain of losing the top spot to Monaco. There were too many unusual mistakes from PSG, quite simple situations that normally work very well. This time, the error rate is too high. PSG played dominantly but did not create many really good opportunities. As for Nice, they scored from a lucky shot on the edge of the box. They were still luckier than PSG.

PSG should be optimistic and I think PSG is still having a better start than last season. It is too early to judge the success or failure of the season at this point.
I would guess they did expected a part of the season that would be like this. After all they lost a star player and having lost him, they were getting a different strategy all together and this is what they need right now. I believe that they are going to have some trouble along the way but I still think that they are going to end up winning without a doubt.

This is why I believe this Nice game isn't a big deal, and while Monaco seems higher now, they are still only two points ahead, we all know very well that Monaco will lose points and I think it is going to be something that will not be all that simple to handle because in the end we are going to see PSG win when Nice loses eventually and PSG will take the top spot back for sure.

Paris Saint Germain failed to secure a win in this match, they could only get 1 point which made their position in the standings temporarily shifted by Monaco who successfully won this week. 2 points is the distance between them, this is actually what is expected, because with a standings like this the competition will be more interesting. But my question is whether they will be consistent enough to maintain this or not, because consistency is the main problem for clubs in Ligue 1. Back to the Paris Saint Germain match this week, statistically they played very well, they even dominated the game with a very high percentage, but Nice was able to implement a good defense so that Paris Saint Germain experienced a deadlock to create a goal.

There is no reason for them to think about the defeat in the Champions League so that they have to get a negative result in the domestic league match, if that happens then I can conclude that their mentality is really bad. Nice is not a very strong club, from any point of view they are a better club than Nice, so they should be able to win this match. Indeed they will focus more on the Champions League than Ligue 1, but they should not regret what happened in the Champions League. They also have a very experienced coach, so the coach must be able to restore their confidence quickly, that is one of the tasks of a coach.

There are cases where defeat affect the performance of a team we have seen it happen in several occasions but in the case of the defeat that PSG suffered against Arsenal in the champions League, the team should not be demoralized because they have witnessed the champions league competition several times and the team is used to winning and losing in the league so right now, they have to look beyond the champions and focus on winning their game in the domestic league.

Nice is ahead in the first half but the performance of PSG is not bad in the team I see them coming back in the second half but winning the game is something I'm not expecting them to do tonight because Nice is doing a good job on the defense.

Monaco are going pretty even with PSG this season. Even number of matches played so far by these two teams where two teams have equal number of points and two teams have won equal number of matches and these two teams have drawn one match each. PSG have won the title in other seasons as auto choice in France League but Monaco's performance this season looks like they will give PSG tough competition this season. It was a bit different that every season PSG won the local league title without a tough competition but if Monaco could win the title instead of PSG this season then it would be a big event by France. Monaco will have to perform in such a plan to win the title, but they can be successful in this competition.
It might be a tough challenge for Monaco as PSG is still one of the strongest teams in the French Soccer league and dominates the league (league 1) the most. Monaco's performance in Ligue One this season has been excellent as they are already at the top of the points table after winning a few matches. Which makes them think that they are one of the best contenders to win the League One title this year. Maybe PSG Club will not be left behind in this journey because their position and strength this season is already second in the points table with one match less than Monaco. PSG's next match is against Nice team, maybe PSG will win this match. If PSG wins this match, they will move above Monaco in the points table.
It will certainly be difficult for Monaco to win the Ligue 1 title as PSG have always single handedly dominated the league but this season's PSG team is very different from other seasons. PSG have not had any notable good players this season, so Monaco could capitalize on this opportunity to become Ligue 1 champions. However, even though there are no good quality players in PSG, they are still performing well in the local league. If they perform consistently throughout the season, they might be able to maintain their streak of winning the France League title, but if they make a mistake in the middle and if they lose points in a series of matches, they can overtake Monaco to occupy the number one position in the points table. So of course PSG must try to perform according to the right plan.
