Lyon being bad is definitely something historically sad. I watched them dominate this league when I was growing up, during my college years Lyon was the best team and they had some great European games as well not just France, and unfortunately financial ruin caused them to never recover.

I feel like they need to do better though, they have income, and they are spending way too much on player salaries, if they could get younger players for cheaper, then about a 50-60 million salary spending would be possible and they could pay that easily and then get out of debt. Sell some stuff that they own too, whatever they can, it would cover some of the debt, just like how Barcelona sold some stuff to pay the debt and get some players.

I think Lyon needs a revolution and they need a shock to get the team improved again. Maybe they should have a better manager because having a new coach couldn't help this team at all and even spending too much money for hiring new players couldn't help them too.
Now Lyon is again in danger and if they continue this bad performance during this season, we can expect to see Lyon getting relegated which is the worst ever thing for Lyon. As you said Lyon was one of the best teams in France but they should find the weakness as soon as possible before they lose more time.

PSG 1 -0 Rennes
A full victory by PSG further solidified the club as the top club in the standings, which is really competing tightly with 3 points from Marseille and Monaco. It's just that the number of goals scored by PSG is much higher, because of that their chances to stay at the top standing are still quite large.

In the match against Rennes, it was proven that PSG still dominates the club. Even the goal obtained by Rennes was the result of a penalty kick. Both have tried hard, but PSG's strength and solidity are indeed not in doubt here.
I've seen PSG match book and their effort and effort is really good and strong. So far in recent matches I have seen 4 wins and 1 draw. By the end it does not mean that they lost the match, it means that the opposing team was also strong. It doesn't matter if they win the next matches and Marseille and Monaco lose the matches, it will change their points which will benefit PSG.  Obviously, when they win so many matches and win with good perform they will dominate every team and club. I have noticed that some teams are afraid to play him. Because they score more goals and put pressure on the opposing team which makes it difficult for them to score. Yes, the match was very tough due to which the match was a draw.
A very good result from PSG, the kings of the ligue 1, they have continued to show their strength and their superiority over others in the ligue 1, Monaco was an average team but they couldn't match up with PSG in this game, in the match they tried making good attempts in the first half but found out they may conced more goals and they had to go defensive in the second which still didn't remedy the situation s the bigger side remained big even in the midst of the whole efforts from Monaco who isn't their equals in this game.

3-1 is not a bad game and definitely something they needed for a while as well. They are still changing some players and rotating them as much as they can, which is fine and I think it is going to be something that will take a while for them to find the ideal 11, but they are doing fine meanwhile and winning games so it is not an issue yet.

Luis Enrique is showing that PSG could do fine without Mbappe as well, and that is exactly what they wanted from him, they wanted to establish a level where they are doing fine without him as an example, so if he becomes bad one day and they fire him, they can hire another one and show that PSG can be good. This year they need to win the title, it's much more important to win the title this year than any other year in the last decade. If they can do that, then they are going to do fine.

Luis Enrique knows what this and because of that I think he is trying to do the best he can do with the team, and if he can win the title, he knows that he is keeping his job. Getting paid this much and managing such a big team for a third season will allow him to build a  squad that will be even better. At the very least, you know he is better than Erik Tan Hag lol, and that is why he needs to win it this year without any questions or doubts.

When Lyon and Marseille made a breakthrough in the transfer market by spending a lot of money on player shopping, of course we hope that there will be fierce competition in Ligue 1 this season, but so far only Marseille has put pressure on PSG while Lyon actually has to fall to the bottom of the current Ligue 1 standings, last season Lyon was able to end the position in the Europa League zone but looking at their current performance and inconsistency it is clear to repeating their achievements last season will be very difficult.
In reality, buying expensive and many players does not guarantee that the team's performance will be good. Do you remember how much money Chelsea has squandered in the last few seasons in building their squad? They haven't even found their best form in the Premier League even with several coaching changes.

But I wouldn't draw conclusions too quickly about Lyon who are known to have spent €147.79m to bring in several new players. Lyon performed poorly in its first 5 matches in Ligue 1, but over time the team's performance will improve when the adaptations and strategies implemented are fully understood by the new players. The problem currently facing Lyon is that their defense still looks weak and this is made worse by the poor performance of the fordward.

It's sad to see Lyon's current condition, they should be one of the strong teams in Ligue 1, but now they are only ranked 15th. They have 1 win, 1 draw & 3 losses from the 5 matches they have played so far. Their condition is inversely proportional to Marseille, now Marseille is performing better than last season, they are lucky to have Mason Greenwood there who is performing well. Their next match is against Toulouse, let's see what they can get there.

Against Toulouse may be the beginning of their resurgence but frankly the possibility of a their downturn can also happen, considering the performance of the two teams that are equally bad at the moment in the league, we cannot deny that maybe toulouse match will add to the long list of Lyon failures in this season.

Although only getting one goal but the effort made by the PSG team was quite good, they played with good ball possession but they also had difficulty penetrating Rennes' defense several times, but this victory was good enough for them PSG could move away from the current second rank 2, Barcola played well enough so that they could maximize two goals to win this match, a match that was highly favored for PSG and I think Enrique is quite satisfied with the 3-1 result at home.
I am quite interested in PSG after Mbappe left and Enrique was also doubted because they lost a star but in fact they are fine and I believe this is the time for PSG to work better with Enrique because the strategy he built is quite satisfying by playing the ball between feet to feet this shows that they are ready for any attack.

Luis Enrique's team played well in the match against Rennes, they dominated the match until the end. Barcola played well again after previously underperforming in the match against Reims, in the match against Rennes, he contributed two goals for his team, one of which was thanks to an assist from Dembele. Kang-in Lee also contributed one goal, uniquely he was rotated into a center forward. Well, the result of this match made PSG stay safe in their place by collecting 16 points. What concerns me is actually the rotation carried out by Enrique, even though Kolo Muani was ready to be played as the main starter. It's just that, Enrique tried to do something else and the results were still optimal. Mbappe has left, there is no time for PSG to think about it. Especially for the coach, Enrique has the task of continuing to bring his team much better than the previous season. BTW, my guess is, Enrique tried to rotate his center forward players to save the energy of players who were not made the main starters, or, another reason is that Enrique tried the potential of other players. because, in the next match PSG will fly to England to visit Emirates Stadium in order to play away against Arsenal in the Champions League. I want to see the strength of these two teams, it should be an interesting fight.

While I think PSG is doing fine and Arsenal looks a little loss at times, I still think that Arteta will find a way to get that win. I know it's hard, to beat PSG because Luis Enrique put a great team together and everything looks great for them so far, and they are leading the league and I am sure that they are going to try their hardest and beating them will be very tough for Arsenal. But Arsenal has what it takes to do it, it wouldn't be that impossible, I am on belief that Arsenal is the clear favourites here, while PSG could surprise me, Arsenal will win could be a very normal bet.

At the very least, odds are good because both teams are considered good and that is why I think it's clear that we are going to see both teams have a shot and betting on them would be profitable. Rest of the UCL doesn't look like that much fun, it is going to be mostly big teams vs smaller teams, maybe Milan vs Leverkusen could be fun too, normally Milan should win that game, but Milan has been very inconsistent whereas Leverkusen is decent and does fine. I am going to just bet on the clear favourites mostly, make a parlay, it will be 2.00+ return and I think doubling money on favourites is easy and entertaining. I could lose, but I rather take that risk.

The match against Toulouse should be a momentum for Lyon to create a turning point in Ligue 1 performance, altoght in terms of consistency, both are not much different at this time, they are very close to the relegation zone. Lyon victory over Olympiakos in the Europa League certainly provides confidence for the players, and they only need to play the same way to be able to achieve a second victory in their domestic competition. Pierre Sage must tell his players to forget the defeat to Marseille in week 5 yesterday, and it's time for them to rise to get away from the red zone. Lyon journey this season is almost exactly the same as last season, and it seems they are only on fire when entering the second half of the season. Despite their previous bad reputation, Lyon has a higher chance of securing full points tomorrow, Toulouse should be easier to beat than Olympiakos.

In this season we are having good development in Marseille as they spend good funds for the quality of their squad, and they are having good coach which is going to have good impact on their performance in this season with PSG which is playing without big names are also decent and Monaco is always long race horse which give challenging time to big teams and stay into top spots now after beating Barcelona in Champions League their confidence level is also high.

In 6th round, we are having mostly easily games for the top teams which will keep them at their current spots, but still few matches are going to be interesting because we are having good matches between PSG vs Rennes with Marseille will be visited Strasbourg and then Monaco is going to host Montpellier which have their first win of this season in last game against Auxerre.
I think it's true that Marseille has what it takes to win the league if it wasn't for PSG, they are the best team after PSG and they are even right there on standings today. But, let's be honest with each other and see that even with Mbappe, PSG is so far better than everyone else, sure they lost a point recently but that's it and I think they are going to dominate the league again and win the title.

The thing about Marseille or any other French team is that they need to do better at Europe, that brings in money, and that money brings in better players and better team and maybe have a chance. Still, it is not as good as having rich owners, PSG has rich owners and that's why the yare at the top, Marseille doesn't, but they can get richer with European success.

The same here!  Smiley  I have also seen that golden age of Lyon live. The times with great players such as Benzema, Juninho and so on... We are talking about a team that won the league title for 7 years straight.

But in the recent years they are just in their downfall. They climbed last season but again they are back in the start line. How long will this continue? I really want Lyon players to start believing in themselves not temporarily but permanently.

What do you say about Barcola? Isn't he such a talent?  Smiley  Honestly I wasn't finding him good enough previously. It seems like it was all due to staying in Mbappe's shadow. Now he scores like a machine!

Now we are mainly talking about domination of PSG in Ligue 1 but some years before PSG starting their domination in this league, it was domination era of Lyon.

Let's see history of Ligue 1 and the league champions to see domination of both Lyon and PSG. Lyon win 7 Ligue 1 titles from 2001 to 2008 and PSG win 10 titles from 2012 to 2024, both of them have impressive domination. It's 17 years since a last season Lyon won Ligue 1 title and they're not ready to lift it again in this season.

Ligue 1 history
Quote
Lyon
2001–02, 2002–03, 2003–04, 2004–05, 2005–06, 2006–07, 2007–08

PSG
1985–86, 1993–94, 2012–13, 2013–14, 2014–15, 2015–16, 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20, 2021–22, 2022–23, 2023–24
I understand how difficult it is now for them to achieve this in this era where other clubs have developed financially and have been able to build their squad to a level that it is almost impossible to compete against them for league titles. A club like PSG have developed to that level that it will be very difficult for Lyon to dominate and win the league. PSG are the reigning club at the moment, the quality of their team alone gives Lyon no chance except Lyon will have to step up to be able to compete with them.

Seeing PSG lack of focus made me confident and motivated to bet on BTTS.
Although PSG often put pressure on Rennes defense. PSG seemed to lack focus even though they were playing at home, but breaking through Rennes goal required strong cooperation.
Rennes was able to put up a little resistance even though they failed several times, Rennes certainly had a few opportunities that could be utilized to score at least 1 goal.

Although PSG still looks fine so far, but the fact is that PSG also conceded several times even though PSG also won with a big score, so it is not wrong if you bet on that option. But unfortunately,  if I consider from the statistics so far in this ongoing match, it seems difficult for Rennes to be able to score a goal, because it is clear that PSG has good dominance in this match too. But indeed, that does not mean Rennes is weak  because Rennes also still managed to make goal attempts, which of course is a good effort to be able to score,  even though the reality is not easy at all and the current score is 2-0.
Finally what I thought happened, but believe me it was like luck because Rennes was able to score 1 goal from a penalty kick. Cheesy
Previously I said PSG played out of character and often lost focus and controlled the ball too long and finally on that occasion Rennes got a good chance.

A good gambling night for me as PSG just delivered over 3.5 in their match against Rennes. I think PSG will win the French title this season even though many people doubted that following the departure of Kylan Mbappe to Real Madrid.

PSG won the game against Rennes. The good thing is that they met their expected goals. That's crazy to see how great the performance of their midfielders is. And i never expected Lee Kang In would perform very well as a striker. He reminds me of Son (Totenham).

It seemed to me Mbappe is their main problem; they looked like much better without him. They have great ball circulation. They have proper finishing. They have no selfish forward who always wanted the ball to score.

This team looks very healthy without him. And it's very obvious they're going to win it this season.

I think PSG will win the French title this season even though many people doubted that following the departure of Kylan Mbappe to Real Madrid. I think today is a good day for gambler as all the major teams like Borussia Dortmund won with good goals. Glad both teams delivered my over2.5 and over 3.5 that I play them always depending on who they meet.
There is no doubt that they are the strongest candidate in Ligue 1 every season, even before the season started they were already widely talked about to be able to defend the title and that is something that is very natural considering they are superior in every way to other clubs in Ligue 1.
Their victory over Rennes this week made them 3 points ahead of the club in 2nd place, but Marseille will certainly continue to try to catch up on their points.
Marseille themselves will visit Strasbourg's headquarters, although it is not easy but if you look at what Strassbourg experienced in the first few matches, Marseille should be able to secure this match with a win.

Yes, Marseille victory was the center of attention for the matches from all the schedules in week 5 because basically Marseille had to play with 10 players since the beginning of the first half in the 5th minute when Balerdi received red card.
With that, in the future I believe it can make more people believe that Marseille is strong enough team for this season and they can have great chance of becoming title contender to compete with PSG who always dominate the League.
I see the standings and PSG, Marseille and Monaco have the same points and match results in the last 5 weeks so that in the future they might be able to compete fiercely for the standings table in fighting for places and points from each match.
Possibility of change and difference can really be seen when each of them faces each other and determines who the winner is to fight for points and gain an advantage.
Marseille has good capital to be able to compete in Ligue 1 to compete for the championship title. In the first 5 matches, at least they were able to show a pretty good game so that they could be in second place even though they only had a goal productivity advantage. But of course that is a positive thing that they have managed to show this season. They have good goal productivity, but they still have a few weaknesses in the back line. They have to fix that so that they can be more solid so that it is difficult for opposing players to penetrate. This is something they must pay attention to because there must be a balance between the front line and the back line.
Well that what we expect this season for Marseille, they will be tough challenger in the title fight, the only team that can stop and beat Marseille is PSG and hopefully if they meet they can show very good match with quality game competition.

For today PSG also played at home against Rennes and PSG ended the match with 3 - 1 victory so they added 3 points to the standings table, in this match Bradley Barcola became player who stood out enough to be noticed because he gave 2 goal and played very well as striker.
Bradley Barcola is player who is still quite young and so far has shown quite competitive skills, I think he will be really valuable for PSG and can be one of the main players for PSG to continue to have sharp front line.
I got the victory in this match, all the advantages on paper belong to PSG.

Actually PSG is still doing well in the domestic league even though their mainstay players left the team it did not affect their performance and I do not think there is another club that surpasses PSG's performance in League 1 PSG's player resources are above average other League 1 clubs it is very difficult to beat a club that has dominated for years unless the club has the same resources as PSG and has a good manager then the manager can give a surprise. However, for the Champions League I still doubt PSG with the current players I think it is very difficult for PSG to compete with strong Champions League candidates who have star players in them.

Btw PSG will play their 6th match against Rennes tomorrow, PSG must not lose points in this match if they do not want to lose their place in first place because Marseille continues to try to catch up with PSG to provide fierce competition and currently they have the same points, I bet on PSG hopefully not disappointing like before.

Many have attached a greater part of PSGs success to their main stay player and that has been why most persons seem surprised how the team is still doing well even in his absences. sometimes it does happens that it feels like the success of  a team is tied to a player until that same player is actually gone and the team is still doing grate then it will become a thing of surprise to some others as to how that could happen and that's basically the case with PSG. Rennes i believe wouldnt be so much of a challange to PSG in a way that PSG is goin to loose to them, in a worse case it will end in a draw.
I initially also thought that Mbappe's departure would affect PSG's future performance, but I realized that PSG has a great manager who understands how to handle a team well and not rely on star players alone. It is proven that Luis Enrique is not too ambitious to have star players, but with the tactics he provides, PSG can still perform well in the League 1.
In last night's match, PSG managed to win the match with a 3-1 advantage as I had predicted earlier. PSG would definitely win easily. Rennes is not a tough club for PSG. Barcola and Dembele are 2 players who seem to be Luis Enrique's mainstays, they work together to replace players leaving the club.
