Agreed, even if he had some blunders for which he was fired, the latter should only make him wise and temper his spirit. Thus, he will be stronger while coaching Union Berlin team. Regarding Steffen Baumgart skills, there is no doubt for me that both he and Union Berlin will benefit from working together. Hmm, I think you got one fact wrong in your post. He doesn't have to lead Union back up in the Bundesliga, because they are in the Bundesliga. hahaha
Or maybe you just chose a strange wording. 
Anyway, signing him was not a big secret since he was the top target for them actually, saw several news about it before it actually happened. I think he played for Union like 20 years ago or something, so maybe he still knows some people.
Hopefully he can help them to jump further away from the danger zone. 17 points out of 15 games so far is not what they were hoping for I guess.
