To all the German hardcore football fans here, I am quite confused that nobody thought the insane game between Nürnberg and Regensburg hasn't been worth mentioning immediately! Cheesy As bad as it must feel to be Regensburg fan on the one hand, I think as exciting it must have been to have been in the stadium at all. 35 shots and 19 shots on target with a total of 11 goals. Referee had to decide on more goals than offsides and corners taken together! I love I could have said more goals than fouls, but that was not quite the case. Anyway, sounds like quite a record. I didn't but I guess there have been games in the past with more goals, but it probably comes pretty close!

Surely one of the more exciting games we have had in this league in the last years. Regensburg especially came back to tie it after being down 0:2 to make it 2:2, and then again from 2:3 to 3:3 but then everything fell apart. Must have been a hard blown especially considering how this season is going for them so far.
Really not a good time for Regensburg at the moment, dead last, 4:30 goals in 10 games. If they don't get their shxt together quick they find themselves right back where they have been last season, in the 3rd Bundesliga.

Yeah I think the 2nd tier is not so popular for the spammers maybe, hahaha. I think the 2. Bundesliga is one of the strongest 2nd tiers in Europe though and definitely deserves some attention.
Especially the above mentioned game between Cologne and Karlsruhe was an amazing game. But I mean every game that ends in a 4:4 shootout seems amazing, right.  Grin

And as I have said some days before in the Bundesliga thread, I love to see the oh so holy Hamburger SV suffer, never been a fan and never will be! Also teams like Hertha Berlin and Schalke can stay down forever, totally fine with me.  Grin

Pretty good point, which I should have been able to come up with myself, lol. I was searching for this thread and it was I think on the 5th page! I thought what the heck is going on here with us Germans, can't let down the 2. Bundesliga because it reads like the first, haha! Hamburg, Schalke, Hertha, Cologne, maybe some others even as they have been 1. Bundesliga established for a while in the past.

I would be a Hamburg fan if they lived up to their potential instead of crying all the time. I don't have a particular with any football club except for Atletico Madrid because it is a nightmare to watch them play as soon as they got the lead or in a two leg duel, like CL, once they got the advantage in the first game, rest assured the second will cause you to get eye cancer as a football fan.

But ok, we are talking 2. Bundesliga and yes, I like to be gleeful at times and Hamburg deserves it.

Since when has this thread dropped so much in popularity? It was much more active months ago if I recall correctly.

Crazy game between Cologne and Karlsruhe and I think once again a lot of eyes are directed towards Hamburg... They won 2 games out of the last 5 and my prediction is that they won't make it this season either. It will probably go down in history one day as being a major city in Germany that couldn't manage to play in the 1. Bundesliga for so long and despite all the resources they have received. But a fun fact is that you can easily tell what these clubs like Hamburg, Hertha and Schalke all have in common: huge chaos within the clubs. Meanwhile teams like Heidenheim and Pauli and Kiel play 1. Bundesliga and you never hear the same amount of drama during a season. Only club with a lot of drama doing ok so far this season is Hannover Cheesy They've got quite some drama as well.

the downhill slide of schalke 04 in the new season continues...
after taking a 3-0 lead in yesterday's home game against relegated darmstadt 98, who are still winless, they lost the game 3-5 after 90 minutes!!!
so it will probably have been the last game for schalke coach Karel Geraerts...
in the second friday game, paderborn won their home game against hannover 96 2-1
We know Schalke as a previous title contender team in the Bundesliga, but I don't know what happened to them that slowly they are no longer able to become a scary team in the Bundesliga, Schalke in a bad condition so far but has been able to continue to survive in the Bundesliga but in fact the 2023 season their performance was at the lowest point which made them relegated to Bundesliga 2 again,  I thought that before maybe they would only last a season in Bundesliga 2 after being eliminated but in fact their performance is getting worse until now.

The defeat to Darmstadt in yesterday match shows the very weak mentality that Schalke has at the moment, to be honest when they won 3-0 over Darmstadt in the first half, I thought they would have keep the victory but in fact the Schalke players were careless in the second half and made Darmstadt comeback by destroying Schalke 3-5 at home, currently Schalke is in the 14th place in the standings while with 1 win,  1 draw and 4 defeats, so if Schalke does not immediately rise and improve their performance, of course it is possible that they will end up in the relegation zone later and in the end they will become an amateur club playing in the 3rd division of the German League.

Paderborn started the season with three points after the win over Hertha and now they will look to repeat the feat in front of their fans against Darmstadt. Compared to last season, Paderborn have not made significant changes in the team. For this reason, I think they will have the advantage of a ready made playing structure in the first weeks. Darmstadt, relegated from the Bundesliga, lost 2-0 in Düsseldorf and were not effective enough on the offensive line. With new reinforcements, they have turned into a strong defensive team by league standards, but they have not been able to replace offensively strong players like Manu and Mehlem. Paderborn are slightly favored in this match, but Darmstadt's experience and quality at the back makes the match risky in my opinion. It's hard to predict the outcome of the match but I think Paderborn will make the most of their home advantage.

[...] in the promotion duel between regensburg and ulm, the hosts celebrated a 1-0 home win

Regensburg got their first win after previously losing to Hannover in the first match. This victory was also special because they beat their main challenger when they were in 3. Liga. In contrast to Regensburg, Ulm has not yet won a single match, it's inconceivable that they haven't gotten any good results, but have to face Bayern Munich in the upcoming DFB Pokal match.

Klose is probably the oldest player to actually play in the World Cup ever. Oldest player to play the World Cup from Germany for sure if not the oldest to play in the World Cup in the whole world.  we can easily say that he has a lot of experience. It is probably expected from him to bring in good results with so much experience. But it is going to be really hard to get a team that has finished in the 12th position in the Bundesliga 2 to get them promoted. it is going to be a long and tiring journey. Let’s see if he has what it takes to actually get his club promoted to the Bundesliga.
LOL, not even close.
Klose retired from the German team in 2014 when he was like 37 or something. Countless other international players with a higher age competed in world cups. There have also been several older German national players by the way. I don't know why you even came up with this statement since it can't be more wrong, haha.

Anyway, very surprised to see close to join Nürnberg. I thought if I ever see him coach somewhere it would be Kaiserslautern.

Klose has played his last World Cup at 36 years of age. We generally do not see that. And especially at that time when Klose did play for his country in the World Cup at 36 years of age, it was not very common if I am not wrong. The oldest player who has played in the World Cup is probably from Egypt.

Yes, there are countless players who have probably played in the World Cup being much older than him. But Klose is the name that comes to the top of my mind when I think about really old players playing in the World Cup. Maybe it just stuck to my mind because it is not a regular thing to see a 36 year old being the main striker of a team like Germany.

The decision for him being the coach of Nurnberg has already been made. I just wish the best for him.

Since retired from national teams and football career, Miroslav Klose have been assistant manager Germany national teams in 2016 to 2018 and becoming head coach for Bayern Munich U18 and season 2020/21 promote become Bayern Munich senior teams assistant. Klose has much experienced as assistant manager and he learn more tactician from several top manager make him confidence accepting offer become FC Nürnberg head coach for next season.

Actually FC Nürnberg performance in this season not really quit well, finished on 12th standings position place and appointing Miroslav Klose has target promote to Bundesliga next season.
Its not easy challenge because have fight with 18 teams participants and FC Nürnberg must finish on 1st or 2nd place get automatically promotion ticket to Bundesliga and seems difficult if finish on 3rd place because have to face with third bottom standings team of Bundesliga participants.

It is definitely true that it will be better for them if they can actually get promoted without having to go through the promotion playoffs. Because it is definitely not going to be easy for them to win against a club that has played in the Bundesliga. I think getting promoted is going to be hard for them in general. They have a long way to go and the improvement will have to be big for them to get promoted.
