Leverkusen have won the German Super Cup and it was hell of a work honestly.  Smiley  Because they got a red card in the first half but this still didn't stop them. Even though Stuttgart got ahead, they came back and won by penalties. Xabi Alonso is continuing on his magical run. Starting the season with trophy must be feeling superb for the whole team and the fans.

It is good to see that the same spirit exists among the players. Maybe another unbeaten run is about to start...  Tongue
Just when many of us were worried about Bayer Leverkusen and if they'll be able to continue their impressive performance of last season, they delivered an incredible display tonight against Stuttgart to win the German Super Cup. Bayer Leverkusen with their strong and resilient style of football have once again proven that they can do even more than they last season with that awesome show tonight. Xabi Alonso have instilled in his players the strong spirit to believe in themselves even when they're trailing and that's the kind of mentality you need to succeed as a top club. Can Leverkusen retain the league this season or would Bayern Munich work hard to stop that from happening?
Xabi Alonso led Leverkusen to start the season with the title giving the players greater confidence and certainly having great enthusiasm to reclaim the Bundesliga title like last season.
Actually, I had doubts but Xabi Alonso was able to prove with the same strategy as last season when he could not beat his opponent he would prefer to hold a draw and take a chance in the penalty round.
Leverkusen really surprisingly became a club with a great reputation and quality after Alonso joined Leverkusen and this is a very successful career that deserves to be maintained by Xabi Alonso.
Initially when the Leverkusen player got a red card I was a little worried if I couldn't put up a fight to score again but it turned out that in the 88th minute he managed to score 1 goal to hold a draw at the end of the match and that was great.

Honestly I never thought it would still end up in their (Bayer Leverkusen) favor after the red card, these guys knows how to keep that composure especially whenever they under pressure and the manager is really the man behind their success, they are just like a family, what can their opponent do to put Bayer Leverkusen away? They don't give up and I see them as a team that whenever they're losing 3-0 is still not over, they'd come back and draw the game or even win, so loving the team they have become since Xabi Alonso took over.
Some teams would panic and also lost the game but they fought till the end, at some point I begin to ask if Xabi Alonso and his boys can replicate what they did last season not only winning the title but winning games without stopping or minding who they're facing and if it gets to the title I think they're the target because other teams are looking forward to remove them from the picture before moving to get it, the likes of Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Leipzig and the others but I know this season is going to be another one that will keep us guessing. For Bayer Leverkusen I believe they can still get another trophy this season, congratulations to them.

It was not an easy game, especially after Martin Terrier's straight red card. Stuttgart took control of the game and would have won but was denied three times by the woodwork. Bayer Leverkusen, a club that has a history of scoring equalizing goals from the 85th minute and above, leveled up the game in the 87th minute through Patrik Schick's composed finish. Stuttgart deserved to win, but penalty shootout is a game of luck, so they lost after losing two shots by Frans Kraetzig and Silas Mvumpa.

Xabi Alonso showed some level of tactical prowess when he immediately removed Victor Boniface and brought in Germany defender Jonathan Tah immediately after the red card. But Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness took advantage of the red card and introduced Undav and Kraetzig, and this duo kept mounting pressure on the Leverkusen defense. Great work for Xabi and his strong fighting side for winning the German Super Cup for the first time. They have started the unbeaten run this season and we would have to wait to know how far they will go.

The Bundesliga may be the only top European league that will start its season late, but most of the German teams are playing in a different competition, the DFB Pokal. Last night, Vincent Kompany's squad won a landslide victory against SSV Ulm with a score of 0-4 without reply.
Bundesliga is always the last club to start the league and also the last club to end the season, but they have started other domestic games as you mentioned DFB Cup first round, Bayern Munich deserved to win by a big score because their opponents are weak clubs.

Next week the Bundesliga starts and Bayern Munich will face Wolfsburg at home I think Bayern Munich will be the favorite to win this match if look at the odds.

I stand with Palestine.
Bayern Munich are not too aggressive in shopping for players in the transfer market this time because I checked their new recruits were only Olise and Palhinha to add to their strength this season. The presence of these two players will certainly make Kompany's squad stronger this season.
On the front lines, of course Harry Kane is still a frightening bomber for opposing teams because last season Harry appeared impressive by scoring 36 goals. It is true that the competition will be quite tight this season because Leverkusen is a very strong team that is ready to impress this season. Dortmund are also the same, they are runners up in the Champions League so Bayern must be wary of Dortmund's revival this season. Apart from that, this season's Bundesliga will start on the 24th and of course there is still a lot of time that the team can use to develop a strategy to achieve victory in their first match of the season.
I think this is right. Bayern Munich has not signed many new players just Olise and Palhinha. But these two will make team stronger. Harry Kane scored a lot of goals last season so he is big threat to other teams. By the way other teams like Leverkusen and Dortmund will be tough to beat. Dortmund did very well in the Champions League last season so they will want to do well again. The new season starts on the 24th so Bayern Munich has time to get ready and plan for a good start.

The game was not funny for them, but they really tried their best. Bayer Leverkusen has tried to make it to a trophy, but it was not easy, although we know with Alonso they are covered. That is why I still didn’t panic when the game ended up to the penalty shootout because that is what I was praying for; if not, they will have lost this chance of a trophy. But Grimaldo gave them this chance to penalty shootout when he got his goal in the 88th minute, and everyone thinks Bayer Leverkusen will lose the game. but know all have been history; they have gotten their trophy. I also see the spirit of the unbeaten in them, so we expect to see more performances, even if it will be more than the last season.

But it wasn't surprising that Stuttgart gave them a damn hard time. Keep in mind that Stuttgart played an amazing last season and it never seemed to be a coincidence only. I expect both teams to play another great season although it is not very likely that Leverkusen can continue the same way they finished last season. The opponents will be prepared and I doubt that Bayern Munich will struggle as hard as they struggled last season. It could be an interesting race between Leverkusen, Stuttgart, Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig. I don't really see any other team that could pull off a surprise, but let's see.

This achievement at the start of the new season is a big boast of confidence to the boys to both in their domestic league and, the champion's league especially which I believe they will shine with the quality of coach they have in Alonso.

Bayer Leverkusen showed a fighting spirit of it's not over until it's over, they didn't allowed their one man down in number to affect their performance. The coordination was still intact that they managed to get a comeback taking the game to penalty kicks to eventually beat Stuttgart to the trophy. What a way to start the season!

Bayern Munich always poach top players from other clubs to weaken the competition, they can easily win trophies if the strength of their rivals is successfully weakened. Bayern Munich always uses a similar strategy when there is another team that is considered their toughest rival, they also made an offer for Xabi Alonso to replace Tuchel, but they failed to poach Alonso from Leverkusen. The chances of Bayern Munich winning back the Bundesliga trophy are very slim as Leverkusen is still their toughest rival.
Although the situation is true, I don't believe it will have an impact when the competition is running. Bayern Munich every season is always identical with the transfer of good players at a high price. Last season H. Kane. This season who? and what we have to know, last season's experience itself justifies what I said that in the competition to win the championship trophy, what Bayern Munich management did was unsuccessful because they lost to Leverkusen. This season we also can't be sure that they will be able to win the Bundesliga trophy because the Bundesliga will only start or will only start on the 24th.

At least we must first see their performance in the first 4 matches in the Bundesliga before they actually meet in the 5th week of the Bundesliga this season. I think there will be changes from our predictions when we see how they perform this season. After all, their performance this season will greatly determine how our predictions are and will even affect the results of the match.

From their 2 meetings in the Bundesliga last season, in the first round they drew and in the second round of the league Leverkusen was able to win with a fairly convincing score, that's if we look at their last meeting. However, that cannot guarantee that it will happen again, because Bayern Munich will also try to win this match. They will not want to be embarrassed in this meeting by the club that last season managed to overthrow the Bundesliga title that they have controlled so far.

I agree, after all the match between Bayern Munich vs Leverkusen still has a time gap. before these two teams meet, both Munich and Leverkusen must play against other teams first. we will first see their first match, Monchengladbach vs Leverkusen and Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich. after that, there are still other matches before the schedule of these two teams meets. IMO, I will ignore the meeting of these two teams last season. because, currently Bayern is handled by Kompany. referring to the pre-season match that Bayern Munich played and also in the DFB Pokal match, they did it quite well. for Kompany, it is important considering that he wants to show his ability to handle Bayern Munich. on the other hand, it is a big challenge for Alonso to defeat Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. it is not easy to defeat Bayern, especially playing at the Allianz Arena, the headquarters of The Bavarian. in fact, we do not yet know the odds given by the bookies for the meeting of these two teams. therefore, let's just enjoy it first when these two teams play against other teams before this match is held.

Very even game for the DFL Supercup today. I was worried that Bayer could lose this one as they had a mixed performance in their friendly games, but they did it and they're starting the season with a trophy (small, but still).
Stuttgart dominated in possession, but that's not a surprise, as Leverkusen played with 10 players due to Terrier's red card in 37th minute. Both teams had identical shots/shots on target stats (12/4).
I think Bayer deserved the win, but it wasn't their best performance and they should improve their game if they want to defend the title and be successful in the Champions League.

Anyway, regarding Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, before the transfer window closes, it seems they have to make a decision soon regarding the player involving both teams, Jonathan Tah.
This is quite a difficult decision for Leverkusen on the one hand they still want to keep their players from last season but on the other hand the player seems not to want to stay and this will affect his performance this season if he forces himself to still play at the club so I think it is better for Leverkusen to let him go even though it is difficult.
For now, in the DFL Supercup final against Stuttgart, Jonathan Tah is still in the lineup, only as a substitute. Because the club owner still wants Jonathan Tah to be at Leverkusen, and he also said that Jonathan Tah will not go to Bayern Munich this season.

Leverkusen have won the German Super Cup and it was hell of a work honestly.  Smiley
A very exciting final, especially after Terrier got a red card. And Stuttgart was also able to take advantage of the moment very well. However, the penalty shootout became the winner of this DFL Supercup final.

I wonder why made Jonathan Tah and several other Leverkusen top players are also not as starting players, such as Frimpong and Florian Wirtz. Moreover, Martin Terrier got a red card in the 37th minute.

Leverkusen did performed below expectations but then the season just started, I know we all wanted more from them, expectations are already pulled up around them but they are starting foo by slowing down our expectations maybe that could ease some pressures for them to continue in the best form the can already but in the mean time, they have a point to start with a d are unbeaten (lol). There was a time I did mentioned that there's a possibility Leverkusen can still retain the trophy this season but it won't come with them dominating the league and may also not come with another unbeaten run so let's lower expectations, I believe today has made that insight clearer than it has been before now.

I also think that Leverkusen will not have enough difficulty to face Bayern Munich with a newer team line-up because the coach of Bayern Munich himself is a new coach and Leverkusen is still handled by their old coach like last season. But apart from all that, I just want to see both teams compete more fiercely to show who is the best for this season because their match must be awaited by many people from now on. And Bayern Munich might not be able to take revenge in an easy way because Leverkusen’s strength itself is still unchanged for this season.

Bayer Leverkusen don't have any star players, but because of their great success last season, then the players in the Bayer Leverkusen squad are certainly stars. They improved their quality with excellent hard work,  so the results were also not disappointing for them last season. Although the new season will start at least a week ahead, but I believe Bayer Leverkusen will still be a strong team that will be in the race for the Bundesliga trophy next season.

Indeed, Bayern Munich have at least better players because Bayern Munich have great players and star players that they brought in. But anyway, the appointment of their new coach is also still at least a question mark and perhaps a gamble. Thus,  I personally still cannot predict whether Bayern Munich will manage to have a good dominance or not in the next season with their new coach.
Leverkusen is clearly one of the strong candidates in the trophy race, Bayern Munich must try extra hard if they want to take the trophy from the defending champions and dominate the Bundesliga again. We realize that this effort will not be easy, where Leverkusen did not make many changes in their squad, Xabi Alonso even managed to add depth to the squad and retain a number of his mainstay players. This is a tough challenge for Kompany in his first season, if he fails, his fate could end with dismissal. Bayern Munich management has poured a large budget in the summer transfer window, clearly they expect success at the end of the season.

In fact, we have never seen Leverkusen start a new season with a mission to defend the trophy, that is a new history in their journey in the Bundesliga. Xabi Alonso must be aware of the improvements that will occur with Kompany squad, as well as other possibilities, such as the rise of Dortmund. Meanwhile, it is possible that the Bundesliga trophy will be won by other dark horse teams such as Stuttgart or Leipzig. It must be admitted that Kompany does have the most ideal squad in the Bundesliga, but that is not a guarantee of achieving success.

What do you think? This weeks program here:

Fri 28th August
Wolfsburg - Schalke

Sat 29th August
Cologne - Hamburg
Mainz - Hannover 96
FC Augsburg - FC Ingolstadt 04
SV Darmstadt 98 - Hoffenheim
Stuttgart - Eintracht Frankfurt
Bayern Munich - Bayer Leverkusen

Sun 30th August
Borussia Dortmund - Hertha Berlin
Werder Bremen - Borussia Monchengladbach

Leverkusen against Bayern Munich is goning to be defently the most insteartted ghame to wach for us. Leverkusen had an amazing performance in the last season and they got good results which made Leverkusen win the Bundesliga title while they didn't spend too much money like Bayern Munich and they didn't have superstar players.
Now Bayern Munich wants to take revenge but since they are going to have a new team, I think Leverkusen can have more chance to win this match.

What's that buddy? You're quoting too far where it was a match in 2015.
A Leverkusen and Bayern match would be nice this season but we have to wait until week 5 (end of September) and before that happens Leverkusen still have some other big games like against Leipzig which they do face in week 2.

We still have to wait and see if the start of the season is going well or not because that can be a consideration later on where when the big games happen then whether it will match our expectations or not.

Leverkusen are currently facing Stutgart in the DFL Super Cup and given their goal deficit and red card disadvantage it looks like it could be their first defeat in an official competition this early in the season.

Leverkusen is not able to perform well against Stuttgart in the German Super Cup final today. Last season Leverkusen won the title. But Stuttgart's progress caught everyone's eye. Stuttgart's players had a great performance last season. and occupied the second place in the table.

Stuttgart to play well in today's match. Stuttgart players are giving full effort to win the match. Stuttgart is dominating from the first half of the match. Although Leverkusen scored the first goal of the match, Stuttgart equalized in just 4 minutes. However, Leverkusen's overall gameplay has slowed down a bit after Leverkusen's forward Terrier received a red card in the 37th minute. Stuttgart now lead 2-1 after 70 minutes. Since Leverkusen is playing with 10 players now, it is much more difficult for Leverkusen to make a comeback in this match. Stuttgart is more likely to win.

A good result from a Pre-season match from dortmund. Though they made only two goal attempts, but it's all good. The first half from dortmund is impressing me a lot, it's because  their pressing in the first half was fun to watch. It's also very interesting to see how Bensebaini tried to prove himself in this game. Also, i was focusing on how Reyna did it well in this game, though he can be so much more than it, but it's all good for him. The result from this game makes me very optimistic for how we can play with more time under Nuri. Basically, i was only seeing many positive things from the game against Villa.
That match was planned in Signal Iduna Park and we saw good match. Borussia Dortmund team played well in this match and they were favorite for this match  when they did 2 goals in the start of match . They attacked in the start of match and they were fully prepared for this match . After that Aston Villa F.C. team played defensive and I think they should attack on Borussia Dortmund and also they should defend. But that team could not end up the match with respect and they have to face the lose.  Aston Villa F.C. team performance was very low and we didn't see current in the players of Aston Villa F.C. team and the end result of this match was 2-0.
The fact that they are looking very good at their friendly games is a big deal, because we are talking about a big win there and because of that I honestly think that they are going to be doing very well during the league as well. They have their dfk pokal game now and I think they are not going to have a big upset. I know that type of thing sometimes happens, like how even Bayern lost to some team from very low divisions last season, but the expected result is different and I think we should be seeing Dortmund beating this unknown team easily.

What we need to remember is that cost of being this good is that you can't afford to be bad, because if you are bad then you are going to be losing some players and not making enough money. Dortmund needs to go as further as they can at the cup, and I believe finish as high as possible at league too in order to be able to sell their players for higher prices which is how they make their money and stay consistent.

Now this is where the monopoly of Bayern Munich In the Bundesliga comes to play, although the word monopoly might be too heavy on this case but that’s how feel it’s, Jonathan Tah as been an ever present in this Bayer Leverkusen squad and with the team having a new direction now I expect people Like him to be the main men to take the club back to glory fully and also maintain that standard, He is also the vice captain behind Lukas Hiredecky. This decision somehow doesn’t surprise me because Bayern Munich is still the biggest club and it’s the dream of every player most especially Germans to actually play for them, now is even the more reason why players like Marco Reus needs to be idolized by what they did
I agree. Bayern Munich is so strong in Bundesliga that it is like monopoly. Top players want to join them leaving other teams to use their current players. Jonathan Tah is key player and leader at Bayer Leverkusen and he can help team succeed again. It is no surprise players want to join Bayern Munich but we should praise players like Marco Reus who stay loyal to their teams like Borussia Dortmund. They deserve credit for their hard work and dedication to their teams and football.
Soccer loyalty is great, and Marco Reus staying with his club when Bayern comes knocking is huge. Bayern is a possibility, and winning titles attracts players. Still, Bundesliga changes. Bayern had several challenges last season. Their tactic of cherry-picking top players from other teams may not work anymore. Smarter teams are importing great European players to enhance their lineups. This makes the Bundesliga more exciting.

A player like Reus staying put makes a message. He believes in his club, colleagues, and the Bundesliga's future. Trust me - that loyalty is priceless. It gives clubs personality, makes them competitive, and adds intrigue to the competition. The Bundesliga is becoming a league of surprises, which serves fans and the game. Marco Reus and all the players who chose loyalty over easy wins deserve praise.
