HOBOTOKEN

HoboNickels (HBN) was established in 2013 as an altcoin forked from Novacoin by the developer Tranz.
It was an "early bird" coin and even in the Top 30 marketcap by 2014! - Some you guys may even remember!
(proof is here: https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/20140504/)

The HoboNickels blockchain always ran smooth and was never involved in bad habits. (was never pump&dumped)  Cool
HBN became almost forgotten, because no active promotion was done and lot of new crypto projects sprang up like mushrooms in the crypto space.

By the end of 2019 the only Dev Tranz announced that the further development of HoboNickels is unclear.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303749.5600

Upon this situation we decided to create the ability to migrate of the HoboNickels into the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 Token.
We decided to choose the original name HoboNickels but with the HOBO symbol.

With the ERC-20 migration we get the ability to go some steps forward and give HoboNickels new perspectives to evolve again.

This is an offer and not a must!
HoboNickels HBN can easy become migrated to HOBO by yourself.

My intention is to strengthen HBN and bring new life to it. I have had HoboNickels in my wallet since 2014.
We have to learn from past experiences and only take the best with us.

There are great plans ahead with HoboNickels (HOBO) - and soon you will know what is HOBOTOKEN (HOTO)

We are riding the development wave of Ethereum and ETH 2.0 is within reach. As a whole, we can focus on the things that make a blockchain project: its possible applications. Stay tuned with us, it will be worthwhile for all hobos.

Every help by the community is welcome.
Spread the word, do anything you think it will help.

Is HBN doing well on unnamed.exchange?

It's still doing well on FreiExchange

I've tried three times to dl the blockchain from the HBN website.  Each on different days.  Twice it failed due to a network error.  Once it dl'd but it was a corrupt file.

Please try to fix this if it's not on my side.  I have no other problems I know of with my connection, although I don't try to dl 4 gig files these days often.

If any trusted member of this HBN wants to put it up in a private link, I'll try that and test it to make sure it's good.  Thanks.

Trying manually syncing but last time that took over a week, I believe.

Well this isn't the first time we've had problems with HBN snapshot downloads.
That's why I created a script that takes a snapshot of a live HoboNickels node once a week.

You'll find the current snapshot at the URL: https://files.hobomap.info/index.php
Because this is an automated task, I created a small gui for it.  Grin

*I will monitor the script and see if it is working as intented.
Just ping me if you have any problems left.

Thanks, much appreciated!

I have an active wallet, I should be able to post a blockchain.  Will need sometime, to put it somewhere.

Thanks.  Some wallets do ok with power outages, and some don't (HBN and a bunch of others I run).  The detach database at shutdown allows one to make a copy of the full distribution.  We have construction companies turn off the power now and then and it screws up my staking wallets.

It's gonna take me a little to pull this off.  My wallet server, is pretty isolated with a lot of security.  I'm gonna need to upload the blockchain from a backup, and figure out a share.  It's all good.

I've not had any problems with HBN recovering from an power outrage.  I don't even have a UPS on my server anymore.  I do have to check pretty often.  Mostly because I want to modify my blocks with Coin Control.

Hey Guys

I heard a rumor that a certain group in the background took over the further development of this HoboNickels project. Can you imagine that and if so what would be on your mind?

Thank you in advance for more insight and an interesting discussion.  Grin

Hobo does not need to be compiled. Re-allocate the energy and time you lent to compiling a coin into a useful activity. It is a matter of truthful truth that u dont even know Linux. Perchance u learned a small bunch of commands to aid urself with installing software when software center refuses to open. Im fain that u did that but seemingly that is where ur skills end. U are a mole which gropes in the blind while darkness only gets denser.

why so salty? and why the name calling?? if the man wants to build with HBN then let him build.  And for the record.. he needed a wallet for his new machine.. so yes.. it did need to be compiled for him. because he didnt have it... he had issues with the build due to some awkward placement of a few files.. so i helped.  what was not  needed was your negativity and a smart ass comment. If we are the moles groping blindly.. then you must be the parrot talking endlessly but not knowing what it means.

wait i got a better one.. if we are the moles groping blindly then you must be the sloth whatching everyone try to work while you get nothing done...

no i can do better...

if we are the moles groping blindly.. then you must be the the pile of feces we leave in the tunnel.....

yeah im going with that.. dont be a pile of feces and stink up the place. be the guy that encourages a person. you never know.. the mole may one day sit on a throne.

@dingle

i tried your description and compiled hbn successfully on ubuntu 18.04.4, thank you. Without the GUI yet, but the server CLI is more important to me. Can free the resources of my old 14.04 ubuntu systems now, need them for testing 20.04.

ps: need a donation address from you

You are very right, i admire your attention. What is your useful activity, for cryptocoins in general, and hobonickels in particular?

You are doing badly, do you need a donation too?
