It's true, if you're holding altcoins, you better hodl and hope and pray that Bitcoin somehow collapses against alts, which doesn't seem likely considering its dominance is higher than its been in a year. No new money is flowing in, which means that only the strongest currencies are able to survive, hence why BTC continues to reign as king.
I likewise believe in hodling at this point in time because selling any coin right now from my perspective is an unwise decision to take. This time is to buy more so that more profits can be madmade in the nearest future because I believe there will be a significant change before the year runs out.
actually it depends on the coin in some cases this method does not work. this works if you want to make long term investment.
HODL is right decision only if you don't need money. Me and my friends need money for common life so we must sell BTC and other assets to get money. I'd love to hold for 1-2 years if I can!
As I think if all the market is really bad or red then you don't need to panic by anything, but if the altcoin that you have invested on is the only one which is drowning, then there is a concern situation for me

I'm doing same thing, I don't have much time to to a profitable day trading strategy so I think that best way is to accumulate good coins buying when market is low like nowadays and hold them for some years.

currently i am doing smart holding, I will hold when the market is going up wards but I will sell off when the market is going down steadily, then I will re-buy when the market has went down then I will hold again for the upwards direction, doing this gives me a better profit while holding my coins.

Also i keep holding my all coin because at this moment there are no good ways without holding.My asset value already 45% dumped that's why i'm more frustrated but i'm not panic seller.So i decide go to hold my coin until when market will be moon.I think everyone suffered same problem. Well, those people who bought at the peak, or did not have time to sell, I think that now it is necessary to keep the tokens and sell them
HODL is my only option now, as I bought in too high, so average out as we speak with these lows.

I have also noticed that market is volatile. it is risky trade on that situation. It will be best to hold your coin and take the write momentum to invest. I think it will be ok soon. The market will be fine and come up with bullish signal. So be patience and hold your token.
Pick a good promising coin and HODL it to the death... this is the only way to success.

I believed in the style of hodling coins however I am not fun of doing something that would make us lazy while waiting for the market bloom without nothing to interact for. Thus, holders act as the parties that par the price of particular coins in the trading scenario. Thus, if this hodlers will use to trade their investment then there is a great possibility that the market will close to aggressive again and will be green again.
Lol. Current situation has made everyone to do so. Yes, trading policy is, buy when the values are and hold up until you see the values are higher than the bought amount to see some profits. Now everyone would advice to hold the coins they have until December 2018. The will be a huge change in prices of all altcoins down the line in few months. This would certainly yield a good turn over if you hold now. Never loose your hope.
Most of are panic selling this is the reason for that. HOLD is the only way to get profit but how long will take to recover the market all have same problem :-( will see what happen 
Hold does not always bring results. Therefore, I prefer to keep only 20-30% of my funds. And the rest of the funds I use for investment and trade.
It is true that HODL is the best way to secure assets that we have but we also have to be wiser. Not every time the HODL will work, we must know and accept losses sometimes because it is better to accept than to continue to lose and will wait almost more than 3 months to recover defeat. Remember there are other ways to recover your defeat, like investing in something and will generate profits in just one month or more.
