I think a person should he motivate himself to work. He should understand for the sake of achieving what goals he needs to work, and if he does not set any goals for himself, then he will sit on the spot.

One of the best way to motivate someone is by giving them rewards and recognition. When you feel thst all your hard work are being noticed and appreciated, it inspires you to do more and always do your best. Even material gifts will be useful for motivating others

People who like their work do not need motivation. They do it with pleasure and commitment. For others, the motivation may be money or extras.

I think the best way to motivate them to work is to show them some of what they could get if they work hard enough,
To inspire them give them something that would make them aim for something.

Personally I don't think there is a way to motivate people anymore. During the baby boomer years. Even someone with a terrible job could support a family and buy a house. That's with their partner staying at home too. Nowadays most people are just working to keep their head above water. No way a cleaner or someone doing manual labour is ever going to feel comfortable and in control of their life. You are lucky if you can keep a car running. Despite being a Conservative on most issues. I think government should plan to do something now about this issue. A.I will continue to make jobs more and more difficult to come by and whatever blue collar jobs that are left that machines are not doing are being imported to cheaper countries. This fuels the rise of things like Trump and Brexit in my opinion.  I come from a poor background. So, that's just my take on things.

Always make workers feel useful, that their work they perform is useful to society and therefore should be remunerated as best as possible.

The best way to motivate a person to work is money. Even of he/she was born in a rich family, the feeling of using the money earned from hard work was the best. You can also try to explain to him/her that he will be bored to death doing nothing in life. Entice those freelancers woth the things that he/she can purchase if they have work. If none of those works, you can't help that person because he doesn't want to help himself.

You need to push him and support him towards his goals. Tell many inspiring stories and encouraging words. Or maybe make him dream that after a few years of hardworking, he'll have a house and a car.

Motivation can be from and can be for something. Positive and negative. Positive means that a person works to receive something, a bonus, a cash reward, an extra weekend, etc. Negative motivation is that you say what happens if a person does not do the work. Reducing the level of payroll, lowering the career ladder, minus the weekend, etc. Of course you can be an example to follow, and your work, your activity, motivate a person to become better and more successful.

Give the person incentives, inspirations, respect his or her fundamental rights and views.

As a leader, we deal with this kind of situation;knowing that the subject is very vulnerable to any kind of affection, you might wanna tell them positive things then afterward catch it with a facts (ie: They will not be able to get some help if they are not willing to help them selves) but be careful to your approach as everyone is not open minded, some are very sensitive about their emotion

no one can motivate anyone mroe than they can motivate themselves. One can inspire others but motivation comes from your own determination to achieve your goals. IF a person has a goal he/she wants to achieve they will work to achieve the goal. SO in other words best way to motivate someone to work is to make them understand they are working for themself and their goal-achievement.

giving that person a job that every suitable and high salaries, surely he will get motivation by himself.
High salary is the main reason for us to have a motivation to work, be realistic here. We work because we want to earn, we want to earn for us to have a good savings and have a better lives in our everyday lives. That's the reality and we need to accept it. No more some dramas or something.

A good working environment, friendly and helpful people on the workplace, good pay and benefits and recognizing good performance will motivate and inspire a person to go to work everyday.

It's true that money is the main point why people work. Just put in some more incentives and workers will work their arses off for you.

By work I presume you mean a job which you need to earn money to survive.

The reasons there are so many unmotivated people in the world is that we have so many jobs which are utterly unfulfilling and have no clear reason for existing. Working at a clothes shop is not only soul destroying but there is no benefit to anyone really, this makes you pretty unmotivated and literally the only reason you still go is because of rent, bills etc.

The current system of capitalism and having to work to pay your way in life is really unmotivating, because you are trapped in a cycle with no real time to figure out what you want to do etc.

This will completely change with automation. if we allow robots to do an ever larger proportion of the "shitty" jobs then (if we do it right) the rest of humanity will be liberated to do more or less as they please. In this case I think some people will sit around and game yes, but the majority will go back to school, or do charitable work, they will find meaning in things other than a 9-5 desk job or working in a grocery store.

My short answer to the question = give people the time and ability to choose what they do for themselves, with no restrictions on needing to pay to survive

First you have to communicate them well. Do not just email them. Talk to them in person. Let them know your intentions. Tell them the goal. Listen to what they think. Let them be part of the goal rather than just telling them what they have to do.

There should be a goal, an objective and of coursea gain in the end, setting aside those negativities and being more positive. As long as you enjoy your work make it as your passion, you are motivated enough.
