There is nothing you can do. No one ever has managed to prepare himself for the war, you just can't be prepared for something so terrible. And it's worse than in your worst dreams, beleive me I've been there. And WW III if it happens would ruin man kind, the survivors would have to start again from nothing, from the very bottom.
There is no any perfect solution but you have to live like a maker. Your abilities will be improve and your chance will be higher.

Make a friend in some neutral country and shift to that country when war is over as a country needs its citizens during a war .

What are candles going to do for you in a zombie apocalypse? You'll need a good sword with sharpening stones. Also armor is a good idea.

If some disaster connected with newclear weapons happens, nothing will save us. How can you prepare for it? Even if your survive, the atmosphere will stay pison for dozens of years.
I think that no method will help if fate is destined to die. You just have to put up with it and not think about the war. It will calm your nerves.
If will be nuclear war,dont worry you have small chance to survive not only you human race,i suggest you to do another thing to stop nuclear war to work in some organisations which purpose is that.

Buy a small bunker for your family which is only a short time away from your work/home and stock it up.
Knowing the way how to prevent the radiation and how to be safe or remove from contamination and the medicine. i started to keep some important item like radio, can food, water, salt, oil, many more things first aide kit. area or places that can run with my family.
Always try and keep a stash of food, water, clothes, blankets and batteries, lighters and toilet paper and a firstaid kit handy in case of any civil emergency. However a doomsday prep situation, well you can go full on prepper - weapons and bunkers and fuel etc.
My ideal prep situation would be having an "Abigail" stocked and waiting for me. Thats the boat from Fear the Walking Dead. Hoping I can get enough crypto to buy her one day

I live in Europe and i am convinced that a world war will happen within the next 30 years, probably with nuclear weapons. There will be no internet, food, electricity, water available. Banks are closed so i can't get my money. No fuel in fuelstations so i can't use my car. No meds available everything is plundered in pharmacy's. Stores and wallmarts are plundered as well so no food.
What do i need to do to survive?
Start making a lot of Jams which can lasts for 100years like honey etc and a lot of candles. Then start digging underground and make an underground house with deep well water.
