Hi,
i have found a wallet with 40 BTC.
The last transaction was 2011.
Can i take the money?
Or is it not legal?
Please Help!

Best Regards!

WOW you made it ll, it's like finding a wallet with no i.d in the road and money in it. You have hit the lottery my friend, good luck. I wish I could win like that once in my lifetime, my life would surely change.  Grin
you are right. it's a bitcoin very much, and I believe, it is probably the wallet of the first people to use bitcoin. Well, if the last transaction was in 2011. I think, the wallet had been left behind by those who had the wallet, and maybe people who have it, do not use bitcoin anymore.

If you are talking about that leaked PDF wallets in Jan then it's better to ignore that shit as I suspect that original owner has withdrawn all his balance in the (probably more secured) wallet and tried to troll the internet with those 10 poor passwords protected wallets. You won't be able to spend it as original owner is smarter than the others.

If you found a wallet without name of the owner you can't return it to the owner, unless you report it to the police station where you've find it. but in your case is you can't identify the owner of that bitcoin, you can't say that you can report it in bitcoinworld because many will claim that it's their wallet. So I advice to you that donate some bitcoin in orphanage, and keep the other bitcoin to your own wallet.

Fake.
This dude either is an idiot or just don't know about bitcoins.Without the proof of address or the transactions, whatever he says is simply bullshit.Nice trolling attempt, buddy.
maybe you are right. What if he does not like to post a transaction here? Anyhow, I just wonder how can a person left a private key on public for 3 years and still no one notices about it. Well, if it is truth, he must be the luckiest man on this planet. My friend never give me a single satoshi Cheesy
Cant still believe because showing wallet with 40btc on it doesnt matter at all since as long you put high security on it then hacking it wont be possible at all. People do really like to show some proofs not only on blaffing related to find out a private key and claiming that he does have this bitcoin amount.

The coin was probably not 40 btc but possibly 40 satoshi. There are many people who are confused with satoshi and btc. They do not know that satoshis are small amount of bitcoin. Maybe he took 40 satoshi as 40 bitcoins. The biggest question is how did he found those 40 btc if that was really true. If he isnt lying then maybe he is a hacker or just want to post a topic to see what will be the reaction of the people.
Nope,40 satoshi and 40 btc can be easily recognize even you are not into bitcoin too much and from the symbol itself you could actually identify so easily.Theres no need to be hacker to acquire those claimed bitcoin as long you do have the possesion of the private keys then you are the owner of those bitcoins and the thing seems really unbelievable that those keys are just exposed publicly.

Its not illegal, you have a key thats mean you get full right to use that wallet so the amount of 40BTC is your so just use them all. Or you want to share with somebody is ok. The big question here is how can you get that key in the forum? and the last transaction was 2011 is very weird. Or maybe you get your lucky or after you doing something meaningful so thats a reward Smiley
The fact someone leaves their wallet in a table does not give you the right to take money out of it, this is the same he has access to the bitcoin wallet but that does not mean he should take the money just because he can.
Your logic alright, although this thread is a pure bullshit and not worth discussing furthermore, just stop bulshitting your self or get involved into this bullshit guys.
i hope e-beggar will stop, just working instead to get money.

Yes, it is possible to find a wallet with money in real life and it is also possible in the digital world. The funds belong to someone and the last transaction record was 2011 which means that the owner either forget the password to the wallet or he is saving money for his future or it is also possible that is already rich. Actually, in 2011 the bitcoin reached its highest value and most of the users converted them into real money. Hence, the theory of forgetting password is looked much more real and if that's the case the one who found the key can use that money after making some great efforts to find the owner of the money.

First of all thank you for making me go in the street running and laughing it was refreshing Cheesy we're currently living in a world where everyone tries to get whatever they want by any means/killing/robbing/blackmailing/scamming, people no longer care about ethics.
One thing you should know though, there is a judgement day whether you believe it or not, so try to be and do as you like others to be and do with you.
Yep just do not touch any of the BTC in thier  wallet your not the real owner of it you just see the private key. but not that's means it's your's better not touch it and wait for the real owner to claim every btc they own.

Well... Satoshi Nakamoto's wallets contain more than BTC980,000, and they haven't been moved since 2009. These coins are worth more than $1 billion at today's exchange rates. Find out the private key for any of these wallets, and all this fortune can be yours. Also, if you scan the discarded hard drives and USB sticks, you may find Bitcoin wallets (if you are really lucky).

It was a private key, i found it in a forum.
A private key forgotten 6 years on a public forum and nobody took it?

Yes, this is unbelievable. If OP has already taken the bitcoins and moved to another wallet, it would be a good idea that he shows the link to that alleged forum where he found the private keys to believe his story.

If I am not mistaken I've seen a lot of threads telling they have discovered an unused wallet that is been not used for years and asking if it will be their own or not. Come on, who will let someone leave his or her key here and with a 40 BTC? ts.
yes how can a person found a wallet having 40 bitcoins.i think it can only possible if you will hack the key. or it many be from your own family or any near friend who can leave his important papers with you. other wise it is not possible to find the account of a person whom you do not know.
