Its illegal and I suggest you don't do it. Maybe post the key to this fine forum and see if anyone minds helping you move the coins. What a thread lol
Hahaha.  Grin Nice one.
Thanks for the laugh leepfrog.  Cheesy

Now, what's even funnier is seeing all the pretentious folks out here.  Roll Eyes
As for the 'scenario', consider for a moment, you find the private key for a wallet containing 40+BTC, what to do?

1.Take it, move the funds where you have sole control of key, then do whatever. It's yours.
2. Take it, move the funds where you have sole control of key, donate some, and the rest is yours.
3. Take it, move the funds where you have sole control of key, try to find owner, return if sufficient proof is given otherwise donate all.
4. Don't take it, and let the others claim the BTC and do what they will.

Most would do Number 1, Some would take Number 2, While those rare ones would do Number 3.
As for 4? Those are for the stupid ones, doesn't want to get involved, or truly doesn't care.

To see is to believe, that is what I could say. OP should provide us the evidence to prove his stories a fact or just an imagination. So it seems that he is really only making a false statement just to attract others. I think, it is not possible to find a wallet with private keys and easily access it.

if it finds a wallet containing 40 BTC, in the form of his wallet in the hard drive, but it can still only address only if I think it is very difficult then you are breaking into, unless you have a new secret word that got you

It is almost impossible to break.

Best troll in a long time, well done OP!  Grin

Shouldn't be too hard to write a crawler that looks for private keys on Google, right?

It depends on how you "found" the wallet. Could you please elaborate the details? You may do it in PM if you do not wish to disclose this information. I think, you should not spend the BTC yet. Also, maybe you could re-consider writing out the amount or not writing it because it is unrelevant now.

If you are here to fool yourself that taking those coins is a good thing to do and want to hear from people that it's OK to take them? yes my son go ahead and drink and eat and fack using the $40,000 for a year or two, we all know that you're not going to change your mind regarding this matter.

Correct, unless he is a good person with a very clean conscience that won't just take the money even though he is the one who found it accidentally, because still, he don't have any right to claim the money that it is his, and should just make the decision to take it all, even though OP is asking advice here to all of us.

It would be a better idea if OP is going to return it to the right owner, and who knows, maybe because of being so much thankful of the owner to OP, the owner might give him rewards for his kindness, only, if OP is not that greedy when it comes to bitcoin, because 40 bitcoin is really a big deal.

Don't believe in this nonsense.
Just look he has a casino account with 12.5 btc he wants to sell for 6.5btc

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcoin-casino-account-with-12000mbtc-1799840

Can you tell us another one when you get back from magical land?
Nice track you have there mate and seeing on that it seems this claim is just purely a troll because op seems like need of money and selling his own casino account with 12.5 btc? why he would sell that account if he could able to withdraw it?
Obviously trying a bait and switch.
If you notice all the scammers are coming back now (with high rise in btc price! Cheesy ) under their different previous accounts Roll Eyes to do make it look they are doing valid deals with themselves to make you out they weren't scammers in the first place.
They just are making a con after con job of many layers.
Think of members like this as onions! Wink
They have many peels before you can get to the core but they still stink of the previous layer (scamming ways)! Grin

This thread is just another type of trolling because that is so good to be true, No one will never be like a silly person to get his wallet hacked or been stolen with 40 btc, Like how that could happen? how can a person let anybody else to get his bitcoin and that is a really big amount of bitcoins 40 BTC. I doubt that this is true.

Hi,
i have found a wallet with 40 BTC.
The last transaction was 2011.
Can i take the money?
Or is it not legal?
Please Help!

Best Regards!

Its not illegal, you have a key thats mean you get full right to use that wallet so the amount of 40BTC is your so just use them all. Or you want to share with somebody is ok. The big question here is how can you get that key in the forum? and the last transaction was 2011 is very weird. Or maybe you get your lucky or after you doing something meaningful so thats a reward Smiley

If you found someone's private key, you could get the coins but it would be stealing. That could be someone's savings that they are holding for retirement. I would suggest leaving them alone.

It was a private key, i found it in a forum.
Not in the darknet, in the clear Internet.

Best Regards!

You are so lucky, take all money and give me some btc. Is it legal? According law it is illegal act, but as we know you found it.
