Well these ones are still better because there are some that will run away with the investors fund. A project that has future won't stop what they intend doing due to market instability but keep working. Let's research well to find potential projects.
It is really disheartening and unfortunate that these bad eggs are in the crypto space. This is why we need to make more research before investing nowadays, let's look past the hype etc and focus on if their ideas or aims and objectives is achievable or not.
I think there is a difference in the ICO project. ICO projects are said to fail because they cannot collect funds and all investor money is returned. But if ICO is fraud, of course, they will not refund your investment money. So every investor must always be vigilant and not easily trust ICO.

I was also scammed. ICO has made the distribution of tokens, but unfortunately it is not listed on any exchange, and for a long time has no contact with developers or any information about the development of the project.

It's one of scam icos but there are some legit icos. i have been getting a lot of news from all of my icos. I have joined in some icos and the developer is trusted. It looks like you should do more research to avoid such garbage ico like the one that already mentioned in your thread. Name CashBag

Its very difficult to find out whether a scam ICO but if we go thoroughly into any project, atleast we can have some idea whether to invest in that ICO or not. Useless ICOs do not work well,there is always excuse from their team about services, release of product or anything asked about project. Good ICOs properly follow their roadmap, team is always active and they have concrete answers to every query.
There are fewer methods, so scammers excel as they can by inventing more and more new tricks and types of deception. The task of each user is to have a sufficient level of knowledge to easily distinguish scams.
I hardly get myself involved in ICO, cause I'm very sure that majority of them are scam and that's the truth. There are lots of better things to be done than investing in ICO, you can even hodl up in your crypto wallet instead of ICOs. But, from the way you have explained this, I don't think you really have them to blame for this. If price happened to get below what it was when you invested, then they will pay based on the current price.

Hai guys now days people are really depressed this kind of new scam .They are Lost lot amount from this kind of format and getting only 40% return back.
1) ICO Stopped or Paused
2) Refund - When eth more 200 to 300 USD people invested some ICO now they are stopped and started refund now Eth price 95 USD .
3) Some ICO announced Soft cap reached successfully later their also follow this kind of refund method .
ex:
Trecento , Humancoin ,Vanig and etc.

In the current scenario, I believe that a certain project is legit if they have working app or product with large number of users already. We are not talking the alpha or beta because there is high chance that the project will still not go thru. Cyberspace is a very large playing ground of these scammers so protect your own self because no one will.

Indeed, there are many new formats about ICO scam that we have not yet realized. we are required to be smarter. one of the most classic scam formats is the Profit offer is beyond common sense. but if it is wrapped in a new model I think it might cause casualties. for example Hardfork news. this is very tempting. for example, the ETCV which was horrendous, turned out to be just a scam.

Research before invest, there are so many scams ICO right now. You need to be careful if you don't want to lose your money and wasting your time.
I only want to invest in ICO with the high hype and trusted like Binance Launchpad, they can give you huge profit and of course is anti scam because is under control of Binance itself.

Sadly, I've been scammed by that ICO before. They probably did not continued to distribute the tokens and stop listing it in an exchange. I was frustrated back then, just as I thought I've chosen the right ICO, it was the other thing around.
However, they've been talking about IEO. I will still give my chance to try it than risking joining again in some ICOs.

therefore we must be very careful in choosing ICO because even the ICO that we have examined is still potential to fail or only fraud.so we must begin to familiarize ourselves with the methods used by fraudsters and always know the latest information so that we will be able to minimize errors in choosing ICO because if we are deceived then it is very detrimental to us.

If we consider Launchpad as short-term investments, then why not? The people involved in the first ICO on Binance received in a short time great profit.
