It's a gambling you never what it will turn out after the ico, there are some ico who lives up to our expectation some who cannot generate support, some just die down so you must know when to still hold on and when to sell it's a vicious cycle but there are profit to be made if you know how to play this game.
ICO or initial coin offering is risky thats why before you join in some the ICO's make a deeply research to this project because here is a Legit and Scam .
ICO is a good chance to increase your capital with good ROI percentage. But you should be careful. Choose the real companies, who have real and ready-to-go product, with clear idea, active team and good roadmap. 2018 will be year of institutions money in crypto and I see many new cryptofunds on blockchain, so look for something cool project with similar idea. There will be always a scammer in any field so be careful investing your money without checkin its background. There are some criteria to look for before engaging in ICO, they should have a good leader and dedicated team to gives support to their investors no matter what problem the company is facing. You should check its name and user feedback in some forums or community because you will get a hint whether it is a scam or not.
There's a lot of ICO. But be careful when choosing a project. We will never know whether this is fraud or not. It's somehow risky. But read in your topic, and then look at your team and read about the project.

Many factors make the ICO a legit or a scam. from sales to the character of the team developing the ico project. if the ico sale is successful then the ico can be said legit.

Any ICO must have a project targeted at improving a particular niche of a particular sector of cryptocurrency ecosystem or real world problem through it's home grown tech or using another tech of another project! ICO must have the history of it's work on github or other available platform!

You will determine if the ico is a scam depending on the developer, if most of them aren't showing their faces then it was very obvious that they will scam other people, another thing is the manager who will handle the bounty should be trusted by different participants as well.

Both of SCAM and LEGIT. It's depend on what coin did you choose. If you choose the good one you can get big profit but if you choose the bad one maybe you can get big losses too.
