I do not think it will happen because bitcoin users/holders have faith in bitcoin. However, if it happened, then people lost faith in it and gave up on using it. Therefore, the value of ETH would surely increase and would be the number one in term of usage. But it would take years for something like that to happen.
As a matter of fact, bitcoin's reputation is still spreading across the world and we are seeing many countries accepting bitcoin. Therefore, many people will be aware of it, so they will only start using it which will lead to the increase of price.

Ideological bitcoin developers do not want to improve it, but create forks unlike ether developers and I think this is quite possible because it has a good growth prospect. Ether simply can takes first place in the world of crypto-currency.
That would be a blast. A breakthrough indeed. But it is highly unlikely to happen, not in the near future. Or maybe, just maybe if bitcoin would experience a total crash, a landslide, a brutal drop. Then and only then, ETH's price can outperform BTC
I think Ethereum will not exceed the price of bitcoin,it is unreal. Although many projects are based on Ethereum, there are shortcomings associated with the transaction that the command is still not decided. Bitcoin is the Foundation of the cryptocurrency world.

If ETH were to surpass bitcoin in terms of its pricing then a lot people will be shock and will become a multi millionaire, nothing drastic will become to crypto world it will just continue the way it is, it will only open a new possibility that other alt coins can overcome bitcoin.
A lot of aspiring coins will emerge from that time since bitcoin has been overthrown and been replace by ETH, and bitcoin cash,ripple and other alt coin will be doubling their effort for being number since there is a chance for them to take over the scene.

If Etherum price surpass the bitcoin price, it will be a big thing happen for sure. I'm sure many campaign will pay with ethereum too, not only bitcoin. Also many services and gambling site will start accepting ethereum as their main or second coin.
If that is the case then it will cause the ethereum holders up to from this moment in the future will be getting multiple fortunes, therefore pray for the holder of the ethereum so that this can be realized.
I don't think that we will see ETH surpass bitcoin anytime soon, if ever. Ethereum does not scale well enough, look at what the kitties did to the network. This will be the demise of ETH I think

For every BTC there are more than 6 ETH so the chances that ETH surpasses bitcoin in the price is almost impossible, now if you were talking about the market cap that is another story just in the previous year ETH was very close to bitcoin, at some point bitcoin was above by less than 10 billion dollars and many speculated that ETH will take the lead but that did not happen.
