I'm asking out of curiosity, are you guys experiencing a surge of gambling ads on youtube videos lately? this past week I've experienced an increased encounter of gambling ads on videos I watch on youtube. it's not that it bothers me, I am just surprised because I don't remember getting this many gambling ads on youtube videos in the past, but this past week, I usually get a gambling ad from 2-3 out of 5 videos I watch(it's just an estimation because of how often I get the ads). I don't know if it is because I recently watched several videos of streamers gambling or it's just a coincidence, I've watched streamers gambling videos in the past but I have never gotten this many gambling ads.

It would personally say that it is not a coincidence. YouTube/Google is very well known for taking advantage on knowing the content you consume to further push their business model of targeted ads. So after watching some gambling streamers, it is normal you get some related ads.

In my case, I have not noticed an increase of those, mostly because I just like to watch videos concerning to videogames and political news. I would have guessed Google did not allow so many gambling ads as there ToS, though.

The ads we come across on Youtube appear according to our interests. If you have searched for online gambling on Google or spent time on such sites, you will see advertisements about it. If you read the explanation below, you can have more detailed information about the subject.

https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7403255?hl=en

In addition, due to the jobs given to influencers, you may have come across a large amount of gambling advertisements. Frankly, I don't take this kind of advertising and collaborations too seriously. Instead, I find my own personal experience or the experience of ordinary users more valuable.

I've been getting increased gambling ad's not only on YouTube, but across the board (television/radio/social media etc).  The main reason for this however is the fact that gambling has been legalized in my state (State of Illinois here in the United States) so they are just now legally being able to produce ads like this.  It's honestly kind of crazy to see this, but I of course and am in full support of it!

Lets just hope YouTube pays a little attention to this, as they already allow for scammers to place ads, which is FUCKING insane that a company of that size and magnitude doesn't have a better checks and balance system, or even cares..so I can only image the type of gambling ads they might allow.

Same here on which everytime i do watch youtube then those ads do really kept on showing which it is mostly gambling ads and the rest are those casual food products.Basing up on what i had observed
it would really be mattering or depending on what you are watching. Just like on going or surfing on Facebook on which it would really be matching up on what you do currently searched and with with those SEO
and other stuffs will really be coming up next and would be spamming out those similar ads and just trying to hook up your interest and this had been a common thing.

Just like when i do watch Dota 2 on where it do shows bookies ads on where you could place up some esports bets which it does make sense on where they would really be showing
off those type of ads on hooking up potential bettors basing up on what you do saw.So its just a casual thing to be shown which we know that this had been
that typical stuff when it comes to advertising.

It's always based on the habits/history user.

The more often you are opening or watching, the more ads you will get depends. If that really makes you disturb, fastest way are cleaning your history/cookie & cache or you just stop watching/streaming gambling content and always "Ignore" any recommended channel from youtube about gambling.

I'll say maybe YouTube has been having more turnups lately than before.... I mean, they could possibly be paid good by several companies to run them ads and not even you browsing through can stop that.
Secondly, they might decide to optimize their ad options just to prove Thier expertise to any interested company,...and that's gonna go global yunno. It all depends anyways cus onlike me, I haven't been getting incessant ads as compared to what you described. I won't also say it's possible for anyone to initialize the ads blocking option, cus I've got an idea it works only on chrome and Opera.

That's the problem, whatever you search on your phone or PC will be the same results you will keep getting with results and advertisements,  if you don't want this anymore you will have to reset or format your PC or Android then everything will go back to the way they once are, mind you, that's if you don't sync your history with your Gmail account, the moment you format your android phone or PC and insert the same Gmail account, your histories will be back and you will start seeing almost the same result over again.

You do not need to format your pc or Android phone, clearing the cache is enough to remove cookies that track our activities.  As we know cookies can be used as tracking cookies to track our internet activities.  Cookies are small text files saved to our computer by the website we visit.  This is used to collect the data of the user and may use for ads targeting.

There are suggestions on how to control this kind of stuff and we can read it in this article: https://www.cookieyes.com/blog/tracking-cookies

Since everyone is regularly watching videos on youtube, Youtube is up to date on what videos we are watching so they might use the same kind of theme for their video suggestions.

I don't know if it's an uptick but I get a ton of them.  I watch a lot of sports clips and shows on there so I just assumed they tied me as a gambler or a likely gambler.  Are the ads targeted on there?  I would assume so, so it's likely something you started watching triggered those ads.

Often these things can be connected back to large, or even very small subtle changes in terms and conditions at places like Youtube. Maybe the rules surrounding gambling adverts have received a second look by Google lawyers and with the recent relaxing of gambling around the USA it could be more acceptable for them now. Gambling adverts are one of the highest paying niches in online advertising, so you can guarantee that it is very lucrative for Youtube to be allowing them and they will have gone into a lot of detail to make sure it is ok. Alternatively, maybe the adverts always existed but you have just started following more of this content so their algorithm has shifted your interests over to this type of ad.

I think this depends also in your location. In my country is illegal (here in Italy) made such kind of advertisement so no, there is not this increase. 0 promo related to gambling even if I have a couple of accounts for gambling.
Worst part, I see a lot of promo related trading / similar activities with shady websites Sad or "method to make money online".
I completely don't care, I have -1 interest in such stuff, but their algorithm is pushing these s*it each time Sad

I haven't.

This is probably the algorithm that they have and whatever you used to watch and search, that's what the algorithm will show you. But I do get this a lot of time on Facebook videos but most of those are not the algo type but more of sponsored videos that they put it at the end of their videos.

If you're using Google Chrome which is another counterpart company of YouTube then that's it, the algo ticks on your browsing and watching activity.

Simply put, this is the correct answer to the OP's question. but not only on Google Chrome, because this system applies to those who use smartphones. I mean this algorithm system applies to those who open YouTube from the application, so it would be very natural if there were lots of gambling advertisements popping up on our YouTube homepage. not only that, videos made from gambling creator content will also appear on our main YouTube page. whether it's paid, or a random system refers to the results of our search.

It's actually simple, OP can ignore it if it bothers or objects to it. but if it's not, the OP needn't be shocked and bothered. in essence, OP can choose the options provided by YouTube or other Facebook platforms. I will quote "stop seeing this ad" well, the platform also provides this option. and this too, applies to other videos.

No, because I use Brave browser. No ads here and I still earn some crypto meanwhile by using the browser. Wink

By what you said it seems big companies are becoming more malleable with the idea of accepting gambling advertisement on their platforms. With so many gambling websites nowadays, especially inside the sports' niche, there is a lot of competition for public and popularity on the internet. To occupy spaces like Youtube must be a huge priority for many services trying to get recognized and shared by gamblers. Efficient marketing is an essential part of the process and they know Youtube has a loyal base of users who are also customers of gambling related videos/content. So marketing teams from gambling houses join the "useful to the enjoyable".

Maybe your recent search history or internet activity is affected by cookies accepted in different sites to be processed and you are one of the people who would likely try different gambling sites. That's probably their intention and maybe trying to get you hooked or something.

That's the double-edged sword that people have in terms of having social media and their internet activity tracked or something it can be helpful or harmful.

Gambling has been a lucrative business for influencers and comedian, since they see it as an additional side hustle on their side. Gambling ads on YouTube is a norm in my country, every video you watch an ad on gambling will be done. And nowadays, teenagers loves watching YouTube videos, this ad will easy influence those that are thinking of going into gamble easily. I see that casinos are using so many major strategy to advertise their platform in order for them to get new customers because they have seen that people can easily gamble online without a second thought. Casinos have increased the rate of gamblers due their various method of ads they introduced.
They believe that people can easily gamble online, which seems very easy to me since you can stay at home and do whatever you want without wasting much time, so they introduce those influencers to promote their business by advertising their business. As you can see, even new casinos are using this innovative strategy of introducing YouTube ads to attract more customers without spending a lot of money.
You can see that some casinos have websites that are less than a year old, and thanks to their usage of advertisements, they are promoted and attract lots of customers.

Do you watch gambling video most of the time because youtube ads usually shows ads that is related to your interest. I use different youtube account on my 2 device and both of them show different type of ads based on the videos that I’m watching for that particular device.

Those gambling ads start appearing on my youtube account after I became interested on gambling highlights but still I don’t received this ads on the device that I use only to play videos for child.

I'm not sure if anyone else has answered this, but what I do know is that the ads on YouTube and other social media will appear according to what you see most of the time. for example, lately I've been watching slot games a lot and it's about football and since then almost every social media I've used to watch videos I've watched before has popped up ads about slots and sports betting.
so ads like that are very natural after you watch streaming gambling, ads will automatically appear according to what you watched before.

With billions of users now using YouTube, YouTube has become one of the most popular mediums with potential marketing results. and huge amount of content creators are now promoting different sites for money which advantage gambling sites have started taking and they have started marketing strongly on YouTube. and that's why there are so many gambling site ads on YouTube now. And since they promote their sites through various big content creators, the sites are gaining a lot of potential traffic. and the sites are making hebby profits

It's not a coincidence, but that's the answer. Any website using similar algorithm where they will recommended video or ads related to your search history or video you mostly watched. More and more website algorithm is accurate to predict what the user's current interest, it's good, but people forget about the bad side. This mean what you've done are stored in their database and they're use your data.

Imagine if there's a website record each person name, face, address, location and all of his interest, you would be controlled by the government or any centralized institution.

I don't notice any gaming related advertisements, this may be because Google and YouTube personalize your data and serve you adverts depending on the data they have on you. When I first noticed that YouTube was showing me ads while I was watching long programming tutorial videos, I was perplexed as to why there were so many advertisements for gaming. Looking back, I realize that it was because I had been watching tutorials on how to play blackjack and dice a few days prior. I believe that this is an example of personalized advertising based on your online actions.

I believe that your ad is being repeated because you enjoy gambling or games that are linked to gambling, no way they would repeat a specific ad more than once unless something went wrong on their end.
