I don't think that will affect the price of bitcoin. The price of bitcoin is more stable than other cryptocurrencies, and its popularity is still the highest, and the price of other cryptocurrencies is affected by bitcoin.

You are right, I don't think that it loses its popularity well in fact a lot of exchange has now opening because they saw the demand and the possible profit because billions of people are online always and millions of people were doing trading, so still have a lot of potential demand.

in the bull run bitcoin had a significant decease on its popularity because people were aiming higher profits with alts. Btc dominance decreased sharply but in bear market and downtrend btc returned and showed who is the boss. I guess it will stay and be more popular for a long time.

Although there are many altcoins that are rising and giving us more profit.
Bitcoin will be still the most popular, because untill now no one can surpass its value. And compare to the other crypto bitcoin is still the most profitable.
Thats why some people are getting attracted to bitcoin, they get involve to crypto because of bitcoin. So its popularity will not loose.

I don't think that bitcoin is loosing it's popularity, it's not like because there are altcoins where you can earn a good money, you're going to think that bitcoin is not that in demand, the reason why you said that it isloosing it's popularity is due to decreasing of its price. Bitcoin is unstable specially when it comes to it's price. Bitcoin is like the mother of all crypto currency.

Indeed bitcoin as a search term has reach a low level since september 2017 according to google trends. But to be honest, january and february hasn´t been good months for crypto currencies at all. By not being daily news you can take buy low before the hype kicks in again.
