I will say it depends on project, Some project are good to buy during the ICO while other are good to buy in the market. For a project that offers a huge amount of bonus it is obvious the project will dump when it hits exchanges and it's good to buy such at exchange.
It happens mainly due to huge amount of bonuses given in the pre-sale and the bounty rewards. It's profitable to buy a coin in pre-sale with bonus, but the price is bound to drop below the normal ICO price on hitting the exchange. So yes, ICO is a trap.

Its better to buy during the ICO because it was cheap and it has a bonus coins up to 30%.The token price will become cheap in the market not because the bounty will dump but because since the start of the ICO their commodities are not feasible to the masses making the investors in doubt in the end then will decide to sell their cheap coins and their bonus coins.There are lot of ICO that their coins is falling down even due the bounty token is not yet distribute, so for me the success of ICO price will depend on the quality of the project but not because the bounty will dump it easily.
Naturally if investors are afraid to invest during ICO but most likely to get more profit if you buy during ICO because you can get big bunos. We can not blame them because it depends on the successful ICO. Yes that's true many prize hunters always throw in the price but it's their right because the prize hunter is the one who helped the project to promote it
If you want to earn more profit then of course you have to take higher risk and buy from ICO or even pre ICO. The advantage of buying on ICO is that the price is really good but be careful to control the token to make sure the investment is a good.
Purchase is the first choice during ICO. You will never know in advance how the project will result or how the market will accept such a project. We can only speculate and prepare. When you have the chance to meet and prepare, you know what it is!

Depends on the ISO itself. Many of them lose in price after entering the stock exchange. But this does not apply to everyone and you can leave a part for purchase after ISO.
I think it's better to buy on pre-sale and sell during pump. Or buy after listing on exchainge during dump. I have many examples of this working and profitable strategy.
Depending on the token, there are good project that even though low value than the ico price in the initial exchange listing, the value is climbing after a couple of days or months. And if you buy during ICO, there are big discounts in the coins as early as possible in buying their coins.

Each person's investment way is different, but I think the ico is smaller than the risk of buying in the market, because at the time of investment ico you can investigate ico project, rather than blindly investment.

It is better to buy in ICO, why? Because in ICO, or presale you can get a bonus when you buy tokens. But if you are smart, you can buy on the marketplace, when someone sell it with a low price it is your chance to buy it, because you believe that coin will pump soon. #Datarius
Sometimes the price go lower on the market because of the huge bonuses that the company gave to the first investors, anyway, this is not something important after all as long as you invest in the project.
If the project is good and you see a potential of it going wild in the market in the future much better to buy it in ICO phase because in ICO token sale the price are discounted and had some bonuses to their investors where they sale the coins below their ideal ICO price and when the time comes that the coins is distributed and listed in exchange, once it hit the market and have a great performance the value of the ICO price is rises above it's ICO price.
