for now I focus on offline investment which is clearly profitable and has a long term. if I choose ethereum and bitcoin to make investment I prefer to invest in bitcoin.

For me it's still better to invest in bitcoin rather than ethereum considering the fact that bitcoin is the mother of all crypto currencies and that there is a higher chance of success for bitcoin rather than ethereum also it is a long term investment chances are bitcoin will remain in the market but I'm not sure if the other can stay.
Bitcoin is the original Blockchain entity. Ethereum exploits the full potential of the blockchain. It puts the blockchain to work for purposes beyond the bookkeeping of financial transactions.

Of course no doubt and I'll go for bitcoin. Eth is potentially profitable for long term investment, since it is not far from bitcoin price but there is no possibilities that it could surpass bitcoin. That's why I preferred btc, as it's price continuously increasing that makes us more profitable in the future.
I hold BTC and ETH in a 2:1 ratio. Not surprisingly, because I had BTC before ETH was around... unfortunately I was a bit late to catch the Ethereum train.
My response is: buy both.

From what I can tell, most altcoins tend to just follow bitcoin in terms of its general ups and downs. I used to have the majority of my holdings in ethereum, but ultimately moved to bitcoin due to the fact that it has the "first mover" advantage. A lot of what I've read has suggested that many altcoins will eventually go away, but given that bitcoin is, to the layman, synonymous with cryptocurrency, it'll probably stick around.

Actually they are both potentially profitable investment but for a long term investment, I've gonna preferred for ethereum. Since ethereum now are not so volatile compared to bitcoin and it's price also are not far from bitcoin.
I invested in Ethereum for the 17th October update. Usually, the price raises right after the update.
I think the increase in ethereum price recently is due to the rise in bitcoin price as well. ethereum is still depending on bitcoin so I think it's better to invest on Bitcoin, and bitcoin has been proved to have an ever-increasing value growth.
At present, Bitcoin is in the middle of the price, but at the same time, when buying Bitcoin, Bitcoin will be purchased at the same time. But you can easily buy some ethereum I think Ethereum platform is now more feasible now as many ERC20 tokens are started every day and people start pouring their money into the new Ico. At the end, I can say that business means profit and loss.

Me, I'd still choose bitcoin. But It is wise to invest 60/40. 60% goes to bitcoin and 40% goes to ETH.. Bitcoin of course will always be the father of all crypto currency so it will always take the lead for 60% chance. So, its up to you then. 
For long term purpose if it is 6months-12months you can invest in ethereum, And if it is more than this time than you can invest in Bitcoin. But I am only giving suggestion, the risk is your.
For long term I recommend investing in bot and giving some love to litecoin as well. Long term I think we all hold the solitary belief that coin prices will rise. The difference being is that etherium and other altcoin have the ability to possibly double again faster. However all of these things happen at the pace of Bitcoin adoption. So i recommend both.
I think its better to invest in ethereum for now. Eth has very big potential for the coming days because there are so many ICOs created that are ethereum based, thus making eth very strong. Its true that bitoin is also very good for investment, but if you consider the price, you cant get a lot of bitcoin with small bugdet, which you can get a lot if you choose to invest in eth.
I think that btc has reached its mature period so Ethereum is better to invest now. However, I don't know if you will ever get the same profits as in btc

Investing in Bitcoin is smarter because now you can see that bitcoin is rising you could have bought more bitcoins when the price was at a price of 3200 dollars. Many people sold their coins then.

I think both of them are profitable. You can buy btc and eth. It's will be great to invest in different coins.
It is a good time to purchase ETH now but it could not be as profitable as bitcoins for long term as bitcoins can really give you good profit in long term holding. Even ETH is a altcoin and perhaps in future it can be dumped but dumping bitcoin is not that easy. Investing in bitcoins can be more profitable as you can also earn much more daily interest rates from bitcoin just by investing them on a good site which would give you a good daily interest rate.
I would choose Bitcoin to invest in for long term than Ethereum though I both like these coins but I just really think if you want bigger profits, Bitcoin would be the best answer to your question.
I also prefer bitcoin instead of ETH, since bitcoin is more expensive than ETH and bitcoin is created in advance of ETH. bitcoin is like the parent of all coins, because if there is a price drop in bitcoin then ETH and the other will also fall.
