Most people have the mindset that the price of ethereum rises with bitcoin and vice versa. How true is this?
I think that depends. If we recall the end of 2017, we can see that Ethereum has risen in price, following bitcoin.

It depends on Bitcoin a lot. When the main cryptocurrency is starting to rise, Ethereum is also gaining, and vice versa. However, if BTC can add 10% (for instance), ETH can grow on 15% and even more.

Earlier - about a year ago and even earlier - Bitcoin and ethereum were antagonists. When bitcoin is grew in price - ethereum fell in price, but now everything has changed and bitcoin and ethereum act together. For me it is very strange but it is.

Investing in the future development of blockchain
My opinion on this issue: every altcoin depends on the cost of bitcoin — basically the way to buy altcoins lies through the purchase of bitcoin, so they are interrelated, you can see this when comparing bitcoin charts and any altcoin! I think this will continue for a very long time!

I don't think I have any coins. Whatever it is, we haven't experienced that yet. Even when Btc and eth prices were very close to each other, a little movement of btc was enough to break the eth.
yes we know for ourselves, the strength that btc has. with the market and a large community btc can make the market move with the situation. ethereum is only a small number and other altcoins that will only follow the movement from btc.

Not only the price of an Ethereum depends on Bitcoin, but most of the other coins. They even have similar graphics.

I think it is a YES on this one. Ethereum has its own value with ETH/BTC and ETH/USD
But still the value of ETH depends on the market which BTC is more on it.
We can see the ETH USD price fall if the BTC price fell.

I think it is true to say that not only the price of Ethereum depends on bitcoin but the whole market depends on bitcoin. It is not difficult to notice if you go to the coinmarketcap and see the dynamics of the price for the entire existence of bitcoin and altcoins.

I don't see the ethereum price depending on the price of bitcoin, but the altcoin price cannot rise significantly if the bitcoin price movement is not stable
actual dependency altcoin priced bitcoin doesn't seem so obvious. the ability of the bitcoin in moving markets make that affects the price bitcoin as if altcoin.  When moving, the market certainly bitcoin also participated in motion, somehow this can all happen perhaps also because the strength of the bitcoin is very strong. and it's impact on the altcoin market which also joined the move.

Yes all altcoins depents hardly on the Bitcoin-
Whe btc prize is going up all alt coins also going up. But sometimes some altcoins making huge percents as Bitcoin Cash done few days ago.
So sometimes its easier to make money with an altcoin.

it's not just the price of ETH that's dependent on BTC but pretty much all the virtual money, if btc bearish is all altcoin that follow, the only difference is the percentage and volume.

in fact the price of all altcoin is affected by bitcoin price movements, ethereum will run hardfor in january later, but the price movement of btc holds it to keep rising

It seems right and seems wrong too. I am personally confused. If Bitcoin experiences an increase surely ethereum also experiences the same thing. Not only ethereum, the other Altcoin are the same. It seems like that, that when the price of bitcoin rises or falls surely the price of ethereum must experience a rise or fall as well.

I think that it is, I mean if you look at all of the coins in the market, they are all dependent on the price of bitcoin so I guess ethereum is no exception from it. It does seem like the only time that ethereum seems not to be following the price of bitcoin is when the coin is going on a downtrend on its own but ever since that it has been following the price of bitcoin

Not all the time the price of ethereum depends on bitcoin but most of the cases it is I think. Also, bitcoin is the main cryptocurrency with a biggest volume in the market and more recognizable by numerous investors and people.

As far as we can see after Bitcoin fell a couple of days ago, Ethereum also fell. If Bitcoin is to this is slightly increased, the Ethereum also increased. I think the conclusion is obvious.

I think it's wrong if someone thinks that ETH prices depend on BTC, indeed for some people think that way, but the reality is that when looking at price movements there is absolutely no connection between ETH and BTC.
the fluctuating nature of ETH with BTC might be aligned, but no one followed and followed each other.

Of course , any other altcoin depends on bitcoin, as if you look at the bitcoin and Ethereum chart, they are almost identical
