[Mode=Stage fright]Ahem! Guys, I'd like to submit an idea...[/Mode]

While I want to believe Nimo's offer is legit and I try not to imagine the worse whenever I see an opportunity, I've been wondering about what sort of guarantee we could set up. While the escrow is one side of the story (i.e. make sure the supplier gets his million), how can we make sure the goods would actually be shipped to us in the end?

Nimo, would you find it acceptable if the miners were delivered directly to a parcel forwarding company in China or HK? Or possibly DHL/Fedex/Whatever, I assume they'd be happy to do some custom service to make four hundred times 50 bucks.

I'm also curious how the warranty situation would work out. If we had an issue with a unit, would we be able to reconcile it directly with Bitmain?

The relationship between businesses in the EU (both must be VAT registered) is tax free.
I was thinking about natural persons, actually. If someone was to import them to country A and then dispatch them throughout the EU, all units would be taxed under the rate of country A.

But it might not be worth the trouble. Still, saving on delivery...maybe?

iohen> What's the VAT in CZ?

I'm thinking it would be interested to ship a batch into one low-VAT country, and then dispatch to EU buyers.

The VAT is 21%, not a low VAT country.

If everything is supposed to be transparent and correct, and also importing through official channels, there is no way around the EU taxation.

Nevertheless, I would like to join up in your venture. The relationship between businesses in the EU (both must be VAT registered) is tax free. Get in touch with me through PM or my email [email protected] and we can discuss some details about your plans.

Take care

Jan

If anyone is concerned about the EU import tax with customs authorities in (NOT VAT), I sent an email to the general customs department in Prague, requiring the correct import designation code (as what type of goods the miners are supposed to be presented to the customs authority) and the amount in % the EU authorities will ask.

As I already did my search in the customs index and the miners - being basically an integrated electronics cirtuit, with operation memory, processors, etc. can be applied the designation code 8542311100, which does not require any customs tax at all (coming from China). But will confirm as soon as I get an answer.

I know there are guys from Poland, which should be the same as here in Czech Republic, am not sure how it is in the UK and US. Anyone can pitch in and leave their own experience, so everyone is prepared when the letter comes, that your miners have been confiscated and that the customs office needs explanations and some paperwork.

This is the link to the certificates for the Antminer S9. For EU, the CE and FCC certificates might be needed. So have them ready to make the process at the customs office as smooth as possible.

Thank you Iohen, this is very useful information.

Nimo, how would these units be insured?

In case of shipping (to Europe for what I'm concerned) or running in China (theft, fire hasard, ...)?

I have handled funds and I have done group buys.

I am in NJ USA  l would be willing to handle part of the USA load.

Ie east coast.  Not every state.

If op wants some one to help i will consider doing so.

Would you be able to operate as escrow for the US side as well? If so, I might be interested in a unit.

As I mentioned I for sure trust Phil.

Nemo I know this is off topic but I saw your website and I see your company makes underwater power tools? That's pretty cool stuff!

Some answers to the questions above:

Philipma1957, I would live some help with shipping / splitting the shipment in the east coast. If people in the east coast agree to have you hadle the shipping to them, we can send the relevant portion from HK to you and have you ship it from there. In this case however my responsibility is limited to shipping the good to you and you'll have to take the liability from that point. (and buyers will have to agree to that). Please email me about it: [email protected]

I'm meeting with the Escrow company tomorrow and I'll circle back with more details. The funds must be transferred to Bitmain in full for the hardware. We have more flexibility with shipping after that.

iohen:
This is all about the March batch which they say will be shipped between 15th and 30th. I'm not aware of any January batch and I've been told on the phone they will ship larger batches first, so we should have this one sent out before other smaller ones.
I currently have 336 accounted for on the spreadsheet, once we reach a little over 400 I'll close the signup option. (I'm planning to buy 100 myself).

Anyone who marked "yes" on meeting me in SF. I'm on Guerrero and 16th. Email me with when you'd like to drop by for coffee.

If Phil is in on this for easy coast members I'm 100% in though I'm a little nervous about the next generation miner coming out really Soon with talk of bitmain buying next gen chips as early as this quarter.

The escrow will not cover the shipping to the final address, isn't it? How can we be sure that from HK someone will actually ship something to us?
