It's not that they aren't proud of what they are doing, but they are also considering what society thinks. So, it's safe to say that it depends on the society. In some societies, gambling can be seen as a fun activity that is meant to just be a source of excitement or to test one's skills (a good example I can think of is the punching bag game. It can be a lot of fun while you test to see how heavy your punch is). While in other societies, gambling is seen as bad and something that can ruin and drain a person financially. And we are humans so we somehow tend to adapt to the environment we find ourselves in, even if the belief there doesn't make sense, we have to honor it.

I don't think that's how gambling works in casino games.
It's true that making gambling just for means of fun is not an easy feat. There will always be those incidents where we lose more and it becomes a stressful gambling habit instead of enjoying it.
This is one of the reason why I like betting in sports more than in casino games. Somehow I am enjoying watching games with my bet on the line than against the house in casino games.

We all have a different situation and scenarios in our daily lives and there are times that our surroundings are a bit annoying especially if they know the things that you are doing. Not every people or country is ok with gambling, there are people who are conservative and those people are the one who will just bring you stress after knowing that you are doing vices like gambling. I personally think that it is better to not talk about it for majority of the people since it won't harm you and won't bring you any negative emotions. Things change when you are addicted, it is better to not keep it secret especially if you want to cure your addiction.

Totally conservative and totally that judgmental on the sense that turns out that gambling is really that a bad thing on which they arent really that surprising because tons of communities does really have that kind of bad impressions towards gambling as if this is really that a bad thing to engage on.
