I would suggest for you, as a newbie to learn as long, as needed for you, in order to feel comfortable on the market. When you would know, what are you actually doing right now, and what are the signs of project as successful. So by doing that, you are decreasing your chances to lose everything

in my view, I will say the best to learn first. However, many people get caught up in learning about blockchain specifications. You do not need to know much about the technical side, you need to know how the exchange works and you have to do enough research before investing your hard earned money there are lots of coins in the market to find the best potential coins.

They both are very necessary you have to take your time to learn how the network works and get your self familiar with the market, and again is good to invest early in other to be part of the market and to take advantage when the Price will rise.
