yes you are right. But it is equally illegal to do something to crash the price. For example, to promise something and then break it without even an excuse.
It would be illegal to promise something and then fail in order to deliberately manipulate the market, yes.

I think you missed out on the panic sell
Always have some BTC set aside for panic sellers. I had a few at 0.0025. Never expected them to be filled so dramatically
