the only benefit of ethereum is its pump and dumps and the fact that those who are experts in taking advantage of pump and dumps can make a lot of money from it. it also created a platform for scammers to make money for free from newbies who fall for their scams called ICO. other than that there isn't any benefit for this full of bug coin!

Actually you answered already your question I just want to add only a little bit, one benefit also is easy to exchange or sell because its popular already mosltly members now here are knew it about the eth.

i thinks thats why ethereum like bitcoin, older coins from other altcoins, and start lauch icos work together with ethereum its make ethereum growing and popular
I don't feel that ethereum is getting popular day by day as I am a Bitcoin lover and I invest in Bitcoin. But one thing is good in ethereum that can attract people which is its smart contract.

yes I agree with you because from day to day Ethereum continues to increase and hold so many people investing in bitcoin for the long term and invest in the short term for quick profits, but with the increase in price Ethereum little impact to the current Altcoin up and down

as you say, other than that ethereum can be the first choice investment of all existing altcoins. and crypto trade can also use etehereum in addition to bitcoin.
Ethereum is a smart-contract platform, where other businesses build their product on Ethereum's platform.
Etherium is the second best in the crypto and it it also dominated by a large number of investors. There are many traders or holders investing in ETH wherein sustainability is not a problem in the future. Most of these altcoins depend on ethereum for their exchange as it is stable and relaible. It has almost the same features as bitcoin.
Ethereum is the major platform for smart contracts. Solidity (the programming language of Ethereum) is complete Turing language. There are some other platform with smart contracts, but not all of them are complete Turing language. The growing popularity of Ethereum is of course because of ICOs, which choose to issue ERC20 tokens. But here there is also a risk. If another platform will attract significant number of ICOs the value of ETH can go down. The major problems of Ethereum now are a low speed and relatively high price to use it.
Never knew this. This is some useful information. Thanks for sharing. I always did know that Ethereum became primarily popular due to big community support, stellar features like smart contracts, passionate development team headed by Vitalik etc, but never knew that turing language had something to help it along. Vitalik Buterin is easily one of the best cryptocurrency developers I have observed which is why I knew this coin was something else from the beginning. 
For me the major benefit is that a project as good as ethereum is still very cheap now, cheap enough for new investors can be able to buy into it at a cheap price before the coin increases in value and price. With all of the work that their team of developers are doing on the project, it would be no surprise when the price moons and goes up higher than anyone has predicted.
ETH may not be cool by itself, but it is a father to all other crypto projects that are aimed at making our lives better with blockchain. For now though, there is a strong need in some solutions that allow to use, exchange and trade crypto without any experience in crypto just like fiat money. Here's the one with a very nice and smooth idea.
