I do not think that is possible nowadays. The lottery laws are all different now and the number of possible results is way greater than before. I would not do that, it's too expensive and I don't want to spent a lot of money in lottery due to less chance of winning.
Winning in a lottery needs luck and I believe even with one ticket, if you are really lucky, you can win them.

Well, that man is surely a genius! Winning the lottery 12 times? It wasn't just about luck. It took time and effort which was worth it for a while. Just like others, I also don't see anything illegal about it. No laws were broken. However, it was indeed alarming for the government which caused his imprisonment.

For us not that genius, I guess the least we can do is buy more lottery tickets so more chances of winning. And hope that luck will be on our side.

It's just based on pure luck, and I don't think that the man will likely to spend a lot of money buying more tickets to increased his chances of winning.

There are millions if not billions of combinations, maybe what he did is just stick to the numbers and just hope that it will be the winning draw. He maybe smart, but sometimes if lady luck is in your side then nobody can stop your winning many times.

I think we've talked about this guy before on a different thread but yes, he's a mathematician from what I remember was the former USSR and even before this lotto adventure, he already used his math skills to win money to be able to escape to the US.

I obviously don't know how they print and distribute the tickets but that's one reason he had some success... the combinations were preprinted on the tickets. IIRC there was a woman in the US who figured out the distribution of tickets and befriended the staff in one of the establishments to reserve tickets for her.

If it's the ball-drawn lotto, it would have been much harder for them to win and they would have to rely on having as much entries as possible to get a decent chance at the prize.

I always wonder how do the numbers from a lottery got picked every draw, now I know that this algorithms are the answer. What a genius indeed! Winning once in a lottery can be considered as luck, but 12 times? Man. He really got the answer.
