Merit is subjective and it given for quality posts, so other users woukc merit you if they find your posts merit worthy.
If you want to get more merits, increase the quality of your posts and do not make posts simply for the sake of making them.

You can have a genuine interest in the off:topic and altcoins section, but you should understand that your chances of getting nerited is greatly reduced as users rarely give out merits there cause majority of the posts are shitposts.

Why newbies like me was kinda hard to get merit unlike other higher rank got easily merited?
Did you just shared your opinion or it's based on some proven statement? Can you clarify with some data? That would be helpful to evaluate.
Take myself as example, I never feel it was hard to get merit. There are hundreds or more newbies who is/was way faster than me to earn merit. You have to look at all the data available on the forum. Check this- https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/log-the-ranked-up-members-congratulations-4850225

There are few arguments too that newbies don't get enough merit. This is true sometimes but most of the newbies who don't get a lot of merit are either spammer (no effort when they post) or they are posting in a local board where no merit source is there. Most of the times, newbied don't get merit because they don't put some effort to write a post. There was a thread on why Higher Rank Member got more merits than lower rank. While this is true, this is also true that higher rank members are knowledgeable and they put effort to write post (not everyone though). So, it makes sense why they got more merit than previous.

A discussion which you may get interested to check-

Why newbies like me was kinda hard to get merit unlike other higher rank got easily merited? Btw im not really focusing on how to get merit, i am focus only on update of nft games, altcoins, tips and advices for crypto, curiosity on merit system is the reason why i read this thread.

since your Local board also has merit source
~
a significant decrease in the number of merit on your Local Board
Do you know who the Merit source is? Based your Merit table, it looks like they became less active. The Pilipinas local board even has Mr. Big as (Global) Moderator, but he made only 3 posts this year and didn't send much Merit in the last 120 days.
I wouldn't mind dumping a bunch of sMerit on the board, but I can't read it. If someone (cabalism13? Coin_trader? GreatArkansas?) can share a bunch of useful posts from different users on the local board, I'll Merit them.

Our merit sources might get busy in the real life, after no ones want to share a merit stats on the forum I urge my self to still getting active on the local and share the stats came from DdmrDdmr sources and base on my observation Pilipinas local board is one of the lowest merit circulations unlike the other local board. Still there are some members visiting on the local board new comers doesn't get attached too much on the local because they know it tooks a time before they get merited even though they think it's a quality thread. Well still hoping our local get more active with the merit sources so they didn't feel like getting behind.

By the way, congratulations on your wedding, I wish you all the best👰🤵‍💞
Thanks mate, was so busy that day I wasn't able to share here the link for the livestream.

it might also be worth helping some users from local Indonesian board to get merit and help them to rank up.
A list of usernames isn't enough: I can't read the posts Sad

Perhaps you'd be able to find better candidates from "crwth's recent update".

My offer extends to you too:
If someone (~?) can share a bunch of useful posts from different users on the local board, I'll Merit them.
Thank you, I'll probably do that on the weekend Smiley

Thanks for the link, I tried to use crwth's judgement to get me started, but most of the users are either inactive or tagged red by now.
You're very welcome... Perhaps you'd be able to find better candidates from "crwth's recent update".

That only leaves finaleshot2016. I sent him the remaining 47 Merit to become Legendary.

I explained [on another thread] why I still haven't tried to submit my application.

How about LFC_Bitcoin, I think he is also one of the Filipino users based on his posting history.
~Snipped~
But he's also less active there based this source
Based on the link you've provided, I believe you meant to type my username and you're correct, I'm Filipino [half].

From the merit transaction page it seems that he is one of the merit source, isn't that enough to help users there get merit and rank up?
Unfortunately, I'm not a merit source and recently, I explained [on another thread] why I still haven't tried to submit my application.

most of the users posting there are just the old ones which I don't find they need Merits
You have a point, but most of the veteran members [in our local board] still need "sMerits [I wish there was a way to transfer those to users that you truly trust]"!
- BTW, congratulations [I'm happy for you] Smiley

I'll just keep checking the forum whenever I have the mood.

Honestly, I’ve always thought that Filipinos are pretty active on the forum and have an active local board - I don’t know what happened to them lately - maybe they’re all busy with some other things in life, or just enjoying the profits Bitcoin has given them.
I think ever since NFT Games came and became known to be a good provider of profit. Most of the community became active at games,... Count me in, I even did buy another 2 sets of PC 🤣

By the way, congratulations on your wedding, I wish you all the best👰🤵‍💞

not pretty active since I came to have some offers on Telegram and Discord, so I'm pretty useless on such, still if ever I find one I'd give them myself to save you the trouble.
And besides, even before I ended up like this , our local board already became inactive, most of the users posting there are just the old ones which I don't find they need Merits and for the new ones, nah.
I'll just keep checking the forum whenever I have the mood.

BTW, Special thanks to this forum and to its users I couldn't make it without you...

Thanks for the advice, I think I should start explore and find other interesting thread that will get me more knowledge on cyptoworld and opportunity on other parts of the forum.
Based on your post history, I can say that you are one of the users who made a lot of post on the Local board. I don't understand your language and what you're saying there in your post but since your Local board also has merit source then I don't think they will miss your useful post (if any) out of merit.

I've seen a significant decrease in the number of merit on your Local Board in the last 10 months based on the data in the merit dashboard. But if you're a quality poster then I'm sure you'll get some. On average there are 16 users each month who are actively distribution merit on your Local Board, so take that opportunity and multiply quality post. Only that will help you grow.

how can i earn more merit?

My advice is to start researching other parts of the forum besides the local board where most of your posts are. Whether the point is that these posts are bad or your local board has no merit sources, the question remains for those who understand your language.

In a nutshell, be helpful to the forum and try to engage in discussions that genuinely interest you, there is no magic formula.

Thanks for the advice, I think I should start explore and find other interesting thread that will get me more knowledge on cyptoworld and opportunity on other parts of the forum.

how can i earn more merit?
One of your friends PMed me telling me you're a good poster in your local board and to help you out with merits.  I find that a bit odd, honestly, but when I un-ignored a few sections and tried to look at your post history, this was the only post I could see--asking about merits.

You've been here for about 10 months and have earned only a single merit, and you haven't even made a lot of posts.  You average about 9 posts/month, so how do you expect you're going to earn any?  It's hit-or-miss with earning merits, and a lot of times good posts get overlooked.  If you're not making many to begin with, forget about it.

What's the sudden interest in ranking up, anyway?  I assume you know how the system works, so why you posted the above question is beyond me.

I think most merit sales generally stick out like a sore thumb. For example, whenever I see someone with one merit and 1000+ posts, I assume they bought their single merit.
I'm more subtle: I assume they got it from one of the Merit "giveaway" threads.

Note that this does not affect:
 - PM rate-limiting, which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.
 - "You must wait ___ seconds...", which is based purely on activity & whitelisted status.

I don’t know if it is true that people are selling merit for $20/each
I remember that number from this post.

Quote
If there is truth to that, I would say it is evidence of a market that is not vibrant and inefficient. I would see that as a good thing because it shows that it is difficult to trade merit.
I'm pretty sure Merit sales happen, but only for small amounts. Not many people have enough sMerit to rank someone up to a higher rank, and nobody is going to pay any significant amount per sMerit if they need 1000 of them.
I think most merit sales generally stick out like a sore thumb. For example, whenever I see someone with one merit and 1000+ posts, I assume they bought their single merit. Or when I see an OP of some project, I assume they bought their merit. I also see some people with zero merit, 1000+ posts, and a copper membership.

I am not terribly concerned with someone buying a single merit. Someone ranking up to a junior member isn’t going to hurt anyone. My guess is that they want to avoid having to wait 6 minutes between their bounty posts.

Maybe Theymos could offer a lower version of a paid membership that is less expensive than a copper membership, maybe it could be called “bounty spammer”, cost $20 (in BTC) and give those who are wearing it the same abilities that a junior member has.
