I think anyone caught in the act of trading sMerit should be banned alongside the buyer, but then, the question now is how do we know people commit this crime?
Am totally not in support of sMerit trading so am suggesting that if the Admins can come up with a strategy to verify each sMerit being sent to a member, to make sure it's not being traded, then it will for sure be a step forward for this great forum.

It's impossible to determine merit trading unless someone exposed the private conversation for the transaction. Before, DT can red tag accused user if they find some connection and anomaly on sending/receiving merit. This time they can't give a red tag for a merit related issue without a solid proof just like what I stated above.

I don't know why this is a big deal, Even though user buy fake merit to rank up, He can't still participate on signature campaign or become a trusted member here if his post is garbage and nonsense. Still you néed to improve your post quality to make a decent profile here.

Only bounty campaign with BS bounty manager will accept this kind of account. Trusted manager always check post quality and never accept garbage account even though he received tons of merit.

Very interesting to see the reactions to the newly introduced concept of merit as an additional indicator of account maturity and quality beyond just pure number of posts / activity. While this was introduced to increase post quality it has of course created a counter movement and a market place for "trading" merit - for money.
So this is just a reminder for everyone that the introduction of merit is a GOOD thing because it will help improve the quality of this forum for everybody.

"Trading" merit will undermine this and render it eventually useless.

I am also very excited to see this subject. Well it will help lots of users and motivated to work with bitcointalk forum. They will enjoying soo much when they see their hardwork got awarded through the platform plus when they done something for someone he also loved their work. Then we will enjoy also. So how can I get merits for my account, in what way excuse me?
Your account will receive merits for your quality comments. Don't participate in merit trading, your account will most likely be banned.

true to get merit for good posts and useful for others, using services to get merit is a big mistake, chances are your account will be permanently blocked.
Merits can neither be received for whatever reason a certain person would have neither for a good post, appreciation of the service you had given but never ever consider on buying merits
because this is really against the rules of this forum and once you've been caught then say goodbye to your account because it would really be negged. So its still useless.
Nothing beats out on making your account to rank up on a certain rank with all of your hardwork and effort.

I agree with you mate, cause this merit is what make makes the forum stands out from other forum, 99% of any crypto forum you will see are all ranking their users based on the amount of posts the user makes, don't really don't care if it's a quality post or not,the merit system here was introduced to determine the quality of posts and due to the fact that the sendable merits are limited, people tend to trade them,I'll advice anyone to stay clear from that, it's against the rules of the  forums.

So, with Analytic Tools, just a thought.

If there could somehow be built in features in any backend Analytics Tool that measure things like who is giving the most upvotes to the lowest historical BP rewards record accounts; or whose votes have gone to accounts that have then gone on to curate to the lowest rewarded accounts (kind of like who sired the most beneficial curators). This way there could be like a lean towards finding those with the least historical BP rewards by all high BP accounts, because they would appear on the chart.

Kind of like Karma and the Law of Dharma. Alms.

There was a description of Karma that may help describe the concept. So if I curate simply seeking people who will return upvotes, I benefit a small group of active curators and I likely seek out high BP users, this is a Low Karma/Quick Returns model.

If I simply seek out the Poorest and give them the most, I am now in about a 50/50 Karma/Returns Model, with a hit taken to returns.

But if I curate those, who in turn themselves become active Curators holding and leveraging BP, this is more like 100/100 instead of 50/50. Not only am I giving Poor people money, I am building a Charitable community of Curators.

And an example of how this helps.

1. In the obvious way, the more I seek out low BP users the higher I am ranked on the page for that

2. If I am a Whale, and I want to rank up in model 2. Maybe I just bought my BP, or was part of the airdrop and am coming in late, or whatever the reason is they are a low ranked whale.

That whale can seek out users whom are at a similar or higher rank to themselves, and support them, which then in turn raises their rank.

So it still allows for people to seek out active Curators who may return a vote, but they also then are supporting people based not on BP levels but their community activism.

This new Whale is now lead to vote for effective community organizers, in order to raise his rank to match his Whale Peers in the siring charts.

This could also be built into some kind of general Ranking System.

Like how Reddit has Karma, but that it a different concept similar to BLURT or STEEM with no trade value. But like how Bitcointalk or many other forums have like "New Member", "Senior Member", "Moderator", like this Discord Chat and the Facebook group too, BLURT could have like a non-Static Rank.

The Dharma, Model 50/50 and Model 100/100 would also support not powering Down. Because if I have low BP and I am new, and I start getting votes when there are 500,000 users and Curation gets difficult.

This new low BP user is encouraged to participate in the ranking system, regardless of how low their rank is because they want to get the good votes. If he Powers Down he isn't being Sired, and is kind of lowering his stock. A Fresh users who saved as much as he can raises his stock.

This could possibly even be part of a system where the Poorest users (in terms of rewards) over time are measured. So that if I cash out all my BP right away I lose my stock, but if I get no good votes over 1 year, maybe now I am back higher up in the ranking.

And BLURT Bots would be built measuring those Charts.

And the "stock" would be natural if everything else was measured.

1. So, by being new I have a setting, because time being measured would be good also. The longer I am on, the higher my score goes, the more BP rewards I get the lower it goes on the Poor Rank Chart.

2. But with higher BP rewards, turned around to vote on the Poor Charts, raises me in the Siring Charts.

3. The higher BP I get, with higher subusers in turn trying to hold BP to vote on the Poor Charts, and the whole Poor Chart knows they can curate to get up in the Siring Charts, so everyone's "Stock" is built in.

The Siring Charts could include maybe a tab setting or dropdown option to see:

Highest BP Sired ever, to most Low BP Users, to most BLURT Users Generally, to BP that never Powered Down, most New Users, most Forgotten Users.

And people would use these, try to be on these, and create Bots that read these for them.

Then like

(# of votes × user BP, continued, meaning, to whatever layer, this should start with a # of users × user BP gained by those users, then this should repeatedly look back to that same calculation like a pyramid chart where # of users voted for × BP gained by those users) then your rank in that chart × X

The Pyramid chart first means whoever's underlings hold the most and use it, raises that person up.

So (# of users voted × BP gained, continued) × New Users Voted

Or
(# of users voted × BP gained) × ((time on platform for vote receivers × last post newer higher weighted) / rewards ever)

So new users Sired rank, and most needy sired rank.

This also creates rarity and numismatic value. The Model of "Merit, as we see it" is basically just a little club, and certain people earn the most.

"I'm a Whale, jump through my hoops and then you can get a fair shot. In fact, I am giving you a fair shot by letting you jump through my hoops... unless I don't like you"

That is Merit on a Subjective basis like this with no Constitutional Directive of Meritous Rights. It is a Club.

If populace based Poorness and Charity are commodities, then suddenly there are more BLURT holders and not just a Club.

With the Expanse of BLURT further than that of STEEM, it promotes the scarcity model. Each person individually values their's more because they have a different share of the Pool.

I agree that merit is a good thing, due to reduction of low quality posts. And trading isn't an issue, because everything is checked and controlled by forum moderators (hopefully) and they'll cut off such actions. But there are some other problems: people give merits quite seldom, if we compare to "likes" on fb, and it would be great if people truly gave merits for what they like. But the thing is - lost of people barely even read others posts, or even if they do they don't feel like meriting someone due to rivalry. But I like the conception and I hope that it will go off well.

Merits is fantastic idea to improve quality of content of posts but at the same time we should be reluctant to give merits to those4 who really contribute good material for Bitcoin forum.

[Nope]No hype delivers more than hope
But nowadays many people sell bitcointalk (high rank) accounts for a cheap price, this makes me a little worried

2 people who trade accounts or merits, most of them give up with this merit system and actually the ones who suffer the most losses are the buyers because even if they get a high-ranking account and merit by fraudulent means it will not change the quality personally. Moreover, their reputation would be jeopardized if the two of them were caught doing it.

So there's no need to worry about account trading. Accounts are only controlled by other shitposter with slight changes in writing and language style.

You will get rewarded by making useful posts, when other people read your posts it will add new information or knowledge.
to get a good post you have to read a lot, it is purely the result of your own hard work.
someone buying services from someone else is not safe if it is found that your account has been hacked permanently.

The merit system is indeed very good at reducing shitpos which makes this forum full of garbage, I also strongly agree that there should not be a merit trade that will make everything go to waste.

Why some members buy merits, didnt they know that it feels so good if you get merits through your hardwork,  making high quality post, helping the newbies, and giving ideas to the forum.

Not everybody thinks that way, most of the people are just lazy, they dont want to work to earn those merits through quality posts, its much easier for them to earn merits by buying merits for just a few dollars.Sometimes its hard to get those merits through quality comments, because an unknown user has to give you if he likes your post.

Not everyone does have that kind of mentality and they dont care on making good quality post but rather rushing on making their accounts ranked up
via buying those merits from other members of this forum. They know that they can monetize their account via joining up campaign which is really
showing that some are really just too lazy on doing their job.
Thats what other members do, thier eagerness to rank up just to be able to join on bounties, but they dont know what will be the punishment of buying merits. I know its hard to earn merits, but there is no wrong in trying to earn it.

So how can I get merits for my account, in what way excuse me?
You can check topics on beginners section which was created by merited members and how they get it,  you can ask them what to do in order to get merits from other members, dont buy merits,  it is more valuable if you earned them.

i think it will really be a terrible idea for someone to think of buying merit to rank up, i know to some people it seem very difficult to get merited but i believe consistences and hardwork will eventually earn the person some merit,
there are lots of ways to contribute to the forum, members of the forum will recognize your contribution and effort by giving out merit, all it takes is some determination and focus to achieve it, buying merit is like taking the easy way out (even though not exactly easy)
between there is a possibility of getting scammed in the process.
Everybody would really like to be on fast track thats why its really not surprising that there would really be sales of merits outside of this forum yet they do know on whats the previledge of a high rank account into this forum which can really be monetize via signature campaigns and other bounties that do pay some good amounts for most people on doing less job.Its really hard to get sufficient merits and this one will require lots of efforts to be
contributive into this forum and be helpful but not all people do have that kind of intellect just like into those AI-mind people who do really wrote up long liners of guides and responses and thats the reality.

Merits has done a lot to improving not just the forum but the individual life's of the users that choose to follow it's concept judiciously. By passing the system to buy or sell what is rather given freely and should be given freely is an abuse of the forum. It portrays you the seller as someone who is too overzealous on opportunities that don't know when it's expected of you to impact on life's.
Buying of merits as well also portrays the user as a never do well who isn't keen on individual improvement. This is bad for you as a person because, you fail in developing yourself. Engaging in merit trading activities will only result in the boosting of sh*t posters and would flood the forum with posts that would later get deleted which would reduce the standard of our cherished forum. So bad!
