I have recently installed SMOS & puTTY. (Setup = 8 x RX570) I have a few questions: (ETH only; installed on a USB thumb drive)

1) How do know that my version of SMOS (AMD Rx version) includes the DAG file fix?
2) What are some helpful commands in puTTY? i.e. popular ones.... how to restart the rig, how to see details on my AMD cards, etc....
3) Are there useful command line options to claymore's 10.4 that I need to know about? -r1 -minspeed xxx ?

This is purely a cosmetic issue but why doesn't the terminal color prompt (ie color ls, etc) work even after I edit .bashrc and uncomment the "force_color_prompt=yes" variable. I discovered that if I run bash again it work, but when I first ssh into the box everything is monochrome  . The "miner" username has bash as the default shell that I am sure of, so why isn't the variable enforced upon login.

Not really a super big deal, but I like my pretty terminal colors to distract me 

Probably your SMOS account is compromised, You should change your SMOS password and enable 2FA on your account. You should also change your email password if possible just to be sure everything is secured.

If your using simpleOS then it will be in the rig groups where u added the miner information, like when u selected the miner say claymore and inputted the pool address.
if u need more help on where the port information is then look up the miner your using and find guides for that.

That was my first thought. Fairly new to GPU rigs, can I check mport by SSH in or do I need to do it on the actual rig?

I have a problem with dstm miner in your SMOS. Using 12 x P106 mining cards, they all work good for about 2-3 hours, after that time, the hashrate is starting to decline from 3700+ Sol/s to 2000 Sol/s for unknown reason. When using ewbf miners, the speed is lower and the machine is restarting more frequently, but the miner stays at 3500+ Sol/s. bminer should be better alternative to both of these miner programs, and I found out that it gives higher performance and also better stability.

you might be getting hacked.
make sure you dont have mport open ,
example for claymore "  -mport -3333 "  as long as u have a dash in front of the port number your ok , but if remove the dash then claymore can receive commands from external source.
but it could totally something else, just wanted to help.

You don't have to like claymore, but very often is a best (fastest) option out there...  And I like whatever is fastest for me

Rig keeps disappearing from my riglist on SMOS but is actually mining when I go and look at it.

Sometimes it'll reboot and wind up mining an algo that I've never mined(neoscrypt)

Thoughts?

How I can add failovers for claymore ? Where and how to add epools.txt to make it permanent.

I get "Socket was closed remotely by pool"
 When trying to mine ETH (with Ethermine) and DCR (with any pool)
I don't know what might be the issue.. I'm on claymore 10.v2

EDIT: -esm 3 was the issue behind this.
However I tried to mine with suprnova.cc pool and all my shares were being rejected. All the pools for decred are looking fishy, I guess i'll try SIA or Pascal.
Any other alternatives for dual mine eth & ?

"Mining Operating System" is a genius idea. I will try next rig. I do not like claymore and I need some alternaives.

can anyone with asus b250 mining expert share their bios settings with smos?

i have tried many combinations of settings with 9 cards and smos registers each card but mines less tan 4 hashes each card, i have manyhours trying and cant find good answers online

I can confirm that I have been partially successful in making the Asus Z270-P work with 6 Palit 1060 cards - with one big caveat - two of the cards, GPU0 and GPU2, are only hashing at half capacity.

The jury is still out on whether I'm having hardware or software issue - or both.

I think I'm having several issues at once, which kind of make it hard to track down. I changed two of the cards from 1070's to 1060's in the hope that managing just one type of cards would simplify things but they didn't. I'm also having issues with SMOS web interface changes not pushing through to the rig - it remains stuck on the same algo/currency/pool even though I try to change the rig group to something else, and the OC and Watt settings have no effect. But the strange thing is that the rig reboots after changing the settings, just as if it was restarting because of the changes - but everything remains the same when inspecting the console. This seems like a SMOS issue, but I can't be sure.

The two GPU' s running at half speed could be a nicehash related issue, as some googling around have revealed that people have had issues with this when mining to nicehash. Easiest thing to do would be to change to another pool to see if that made a difference, but then SMOS is refusing to push pool setting changes through, leaving me stuvk with nicehash ATM. Bit of a catch 22.

I was thinking I'd try Pimp OS as soon as I have a little spare time just to see how that affects things, but ATM I don't have much spare time...

any settings for z270-p? I could get only 7 overclocked  Amd gpus, the 8th was 0 mh and crashed the rig

I currrently have 8 GPU's on ASUS z270-a, ASUS z270-p and ASUS B250H, They all working flawlesly. You can take your pick.
