Hello,
Is it here that we can ask for new mining software ? Smiley

I would like to mine Lux coin ! Is it possible to add this version of sgminer which is compatible with the lux algorithm ?

https://github.com/216k155/sgminer-phi1612-Implemented/releases

Thank you !

How do you turn off the rig safely?
Just kill the power?

If you are running on a USB stick i would not just kill power - you will eventually have corrupted file system requiring fsck to fix. I usually ssh into the rig and run     sudo shutdown -h now

That should unmount file system clean and turn off the system including the hardware (GPU fans, cpu fans etc stop spinning).

You always look for list of GPU's in Core/Mem column. You can also check there when a GPU is not working, cause it's memory and core drops to three figure numbers(most of the time), when it's faulty.

In the miner program(console) you can check the speed and adjust, if not happy with it.

Always combine core/mem column with miner program, to see what numbers you get.

Thanks a lot Radu!

When inserting the individual comma-separated OC settings, do the settings correspond to the GPU's listed numbers (as in GPU0, GPU1, GPU2etc.) or the listed order from top to bottom in the console (as in GPU3, GPU4, GPU2 in the example I provided earlier?) - or is there some other logic to it? :-)

Again - many thanks, much appreciated! :-)

Hi all,

I got my first rig up and running a couple of days ago, and have noticed that the different GPU's are reporting very different speeds in the console, here's a typical excerpt:

========== Sol/s: 1729.1 Sol/W: 2.57 Avg: 1754.6 I/s: 933.9 Sh: 7.26 0.99 50
GPU3 75C Sol/s: 327.6 Sol/W: 2.84 Avg: 326.5 I/s: 174.9 Sh: 1.33 0.99 55

GPU4 75C Sol/s: 292.5 Sol/W: 2.71 Avg: 296.4 I/s: 156.6 Sh: 1.17 1.00 54
GPU2 75C Sol/s: 150.4 Sol/W: 1.32 Avg: 151.4 I/s: 81.2 Sh: 0.66 0.98 60
GPU0 74C Sol/s: 209.0 Sol/W: 1.78 Avg: 204.0 I/s: 109.1 Sh: 0.86 0.99 48

========== Sol/s: 1739.1 Sol/W: 2.57 Avg: 1754.6 I/s: 936.9 Sh: 7.26 0.99 51

The rig is still a work in progress as I'm waiting for parts, but it is currently running four Palit 1060 6GB cards and two Palit 1070 OC cards. It seems like two of the cards, GPU2 and GPU0, are seriously underperforming at 150-200 Sol/s, so I'd really appreciate all advice and pointers in the right direction for the best way to improve this.

My OC settings in SMOS are currently set to this, based on recommendations in the SMOS guidelines:

Core MHz: 150

Memory MHz: 600

Power Limit (watt): 115

Target Temperature ℃: 70
Minimum Fan speed %: 50

I'm not sure if I understand correctly how OC'ing works yet, but I've seen mention of making individual OC'ing settings, like "140, 150, 130..." etc. - am I supposed to do this to tweak each individual card to it's max efficiency?

I did one attempt at setting up such a comma-separated string and saved the settings, and the miner restarted, but I did get pretty much the same results in the console, so that's why I feel very much in doubt about the right direction ahead.

All advice would be very much appreciated - advance thanks! :-)

Hello astrosmurf,

GPU's are different, you need to find the sweet spot for each one, by separating OC values.

Your temperatures are a bit too high, I suggest staying below 70℃

Also, I don't know much about 1060's, but from my knowledge, they run at max 80w, while 1070's can be operated at 110w, so make sure you separate power as well, for better efficiency.

Happy mining

i have a little problem with my asus z270-a prime with simplemining.

everything is fine but when i try to reboot my rig, simplemining doesn't reboot properly and i have to switch power off and reboot again each time... really boring

bios is setup on "gen2" on everything pcie and above4g on. i tried "Auto" but lot more problems to recognize my 8 gpus...
any idea ?

Check Your PSU, Most probably you are short of power. suffer the same before and i just add 1 more PSU and it works fine now.

=====

I forgot that my trial will end soon Sad i just send 1 ETC i hope it added very very soon..

I only have Fee service remaining days: 0.06

not possible, i have 2 x 1000w gold used at 60% each so i don't think so...
each time its a soft reboot ==> rig down and each time i make a hard reboot ==> rig on...

i will check error message at startup and tell you.

The scan for errors is fine, it pops up on my usb's with smos on too.

Yes, you should be upgrading your MB bios to latest.

About the GPU list, once it boots, you can play with it and realise fast which one's which.

Thank you buddy.

Is there a way to mod bios cards without a windows installation?
anyone?
atiflash app for linux, google for it
It's built into SMOS. I've previously posted instructions in this thread, so have others. Don't even need to Google. just search this thread.

I have one rig which will not show up on my SMOS dashboard.  4 others running smooth now...thanks for the help.
When I put the SMOS flash drive into my windows based computer, the pop up to scan disk for errors pops up.  Would this prohibit
SMOS from working on my mining rig?  Any ideas what I might be doing wrong.  I did put my user email in the config file on the flash drive.
  Thanks!

Also, should I be upgrading the bios on my MOBO's?
I am running the Gigabyte z27op-d3 board.

Oh...one more thing...in the SMOS console, are the gpu's listed in order that they are plugged in to the MOBO?

"There is no screen to be attached matching miner" means you did not configure your email right on the USB stick, or if you did, you need to login on simplemining.net with your email, and configure your rig.

Thank you so much Rcalin,  miner_cuc and Squintz - with all your guys suggestion and experience.. I managed to make it work!!

Glad to help!

Happy mining Smiley

Biostar TB250-BTC Pro motherboard is not booting up with SMOS. It keeps going straight to BIOS settings menu and when I press F9 to select custom boot device, it does not show the connected USB device. I checked in settings it does recognized that a USB device Sandisk is connected but I could not boot up from it, I swapped the USB with another rig running smooth on SMOS but still same problem, the Biostar won't boot up. Can anyone please share the quick BIOS settings for Biostar TB250-BTC Pro . Thanks in advance.

In addition to what people have already outlined (CSM On, Legacy enabled, etc), I had to downgrade my BIOS on this board to the 330 version to eliminate all my problems.

Many Thanks to all for providing help. So far I have managed it to boot from USB but as it start to connec to simplemining - it gets stuck and keeps saying "There is no screen to be attached matching server" - not sure what is causing this.

I also checked and the BTC PRO (12x GPU) version does not have 330 version BIOS.. only higher versions.. http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=884#download

Can I add BTC 6GPU 335 BIOS to BTC PRO 12GPU?

Is development on SMOS still active? or can we track it somewhere and are here plans to include neoscrypt into SMOS?

You can set CCminer to neoscrypt. I'm currently mining GBX

True, but only, if You have intel CPU. On AMD processor CCMINER doesn`t work. @Titanic - please hurry up with new compilation of CCMINER!

Still active. If you scroll back through the thread you can see where the dev talked some upcoming features. He also said that January would be primarily dedicated to his Simple Rig Resetter (SRR) product. That tells me not to expect much this month.
