Verstappen is too dominant now. I wouldn't be surprised even if he wins the rest of the races in this season.

Leclerc has already lost his chance for the championship if we look at this from a sensible aspect. He is still trying to be competitive of course but the car isn't letting him do better than this. At least there was some improvement in the Monza Grand Prix as he was faster than Russell and Hamilton both. But nothing has changed against Verstappen. It was really awkward to see Leclerc having a serious problem despite having fresh soft tyres after that important pit. If Verstappen is able to keep the gap at the same level with worse tyres then Ferrari are finished for this season.

Yeah RBR is in a much better state now, nobody seems able to compete with them, and when they can, Fia changes the rules. Huh

The championship is over, better to stop the upgrades and save money for the next year

If the marshals managed to push the McLaren away at all, the last laps would be exciting. But will it even work out? In any case, it will be close whether there will still be the laps.

But also congratulations to De Vries we possibly his first world championship points in the first race.

That would have been the perfect scenario to have some racing but overall , Verstappen was better today and he drove like nothing could have stop him and nothing did stop him in the end. I also do believe that Ferrari made a poor strategy race once again because they had pole and once again they ended up in 2nd place so they should make some changed to remain on plan A during all the race.

Yes , big congrats to de De Vries as he showed some great skills and composure in his first official F1 race and I think he will be there until the end of the season right ? Albon can't return that quick after surgery...

It's getting boring talking about Verstappen, the guy just wins and he already has the title in his hand... shall we change the subject? Tongue

I thought it was amazing to see that Dutchman Nyck de Vries made his debut in Formula 1 on the right foot today when he was hastily called up to replace Albon, the 27-year-old finished in ninth place, and managed to secure two points on the leaderboard, isn't it? for less that he was elected by the public as the driver of the day at the Italian GP.

This is the golden opportunity that any driver hopes to have to show what he is capable of, and Nyck de Vries knew how to take advantage of it very well.

In Monza usually you expect much more interesting race... Now Verstappen probably can not arrive to half of remaining races and he still would become champion. But that safety car finish left bad taste in mouth. It didn't decided race winner probably, but it didn't looked good. Maybe it's worth to consider introducing overtime rule like in NASCAR when we have safety car/VSC on final laps.
Russel is called Mr. Consistency not without a reason, another podium for him. It's sad for Ricciardo, he had great chance to get good points after long break, but had to retire. And what a weekend for De Vries. On Friday he was driving Aston Martin, on Saturday morning he was called to Williams to replace Albon. He had not much time to prepare, but he had solid qualifying and now points on his debut race. It's only question now why he don't have regular seat in F1 and what Latifi is still doing there?

Verstappen won again, that's not fun anymore. Already won 5 or 6 races in a row. He is so much better than the rest of the field that next time he could already become champion with 6 races to go. That's really unique. Last year it took until the very last corner of the last race to decide who would become world champion. Now there is a good chance that Max is already champion 6 laps before the end. Should we be happy about that as F1 fans? There's actually very little to it this way. Also for Max there is no honor to be gained in this way, is there?

So which is better, being 10+ even 20+ seconds ahead with a worse car, or behind but with a better car? Verstappen will have all the new changes and all the new machinery refreshed and he will be racing much faster, if Ferrari does a bad team order again, it is going to be very bad.

We have strong proof that it is much better to be even 20 seconds behind with a better car.We had Leclerc at the start all alone today and he could not manage to create a gap who could he manage during the race while Verstappen was on fire since the first lap of the race.It looked crystal clear that he had the best car of the race and he said in an interview before the race that he would be very happy even if finished second as he said is not that we need to win the race at all cost but when in track the desire to race gets you and when you have the fastest car it is easy to win.

Yeah there are some grid penalties for quite many drivers right now. Verstappen can't take pole position for example as he has as a 5-place grid penalty. This could be a big chance for Leclerc to start in pole position easily. Ferrari supporters already want to see such result in this very important race for them. However this wouldn't be a big obstacle for Verstappen in the race also. Because if you look at the results of FP3 he is still faster than Ferrari drivers. It wouldn't be too difficult for him to catch up with Leclerc in the race.

Leclerc won't have Sainz behind him to stall Verstappen also because Sainz also has a grid penalty and he will start from the back. I wonder how good Leclerc will do alone against Verstappen. His rivalry with Hamilton in 2019 is still unforgettable and we might see a similar one between him and Verstappen this time.
The pole position will probably go to Ferrari. Most of the time we are talking about others who will end up with a bit of a problem in the long run due to penalties, so Ferrari and Charles will be the only one standing all alone. If he could just end up racing away at the start, nobody could catch up to him, but it also means that others would probably be riding better cars and they would be faster.

So which is better, being 10+ even 20+ seconds ahead with a worse car, or behind but with a better car? Verstappen will have all the new changes and all the new machinery refreshed and he will be racing much faster, if Ferrari does a bad team order again, it is going to be very bad.

RBR deserved the win but what a joke from FIA with the safety car and the virtual safety car

Exactly. What a boring race this was,the last 2 races have been great with one won by McLaren and one by Alpha Tauri but this today was a bad race and a bad call from Ferrari as "Plan C" talked all over the radio did not work, the Redbull was just faster even with medium used tire compared to soft that Ferrari mounted. It would have been better for Leclerc to kept going but of course no one knew we would have a Safety Car to just end the race in this pathetic way.

As if Leclerc shouldn't have pitted first, what do you think? 2 pit strategies were a mistake. They could have finished the race with one pit. They easily relinquished the lead to Verstappen. Again we see the Ferrari strategy error. Sainz and Hamilton went up very well.
Ricciardo is out on the road, now the race can take a different turn. Let's see what is going to happen? Things changed when the security car came in. There will be excitement again in the race in the last few laps.

I have read that Verstappen's position might still change. I really don't understand what FIA are after now.  Grin

I don't know what is taking them so long to make the final decision about this. He changed his internal combustion engine and got a 5-place grid penalty as a result. That must be it as this means starting in 7th position. If he starts in 4th position then it would be a bigger advantage for him. Because he can catch up with Leclerc more quickly. This time I don't want to see a different driver winning the race like Ricciardo and Gasly did so in the past two races on this track. It must be Leclerc or Verstappen. It would be better to see Leclerc doing so as this is important for the Tifosi. Hopefully the pit crew won't forget any tyre this time.  Cheesy

There is lot of penalties which mixed grid, but in such track like Monza, especially when it's just 5 position penalty for Verstappen. Well deserved pole for Leclerc, especially because he won it himself and not after penalty of Verstappen. Solid performance of De Vries, he outqualified GOATifi in his first ever qualification.

Yeah this weekend is pretty confusing with all the starting grid penalties for so many different drivers. I am kinda surprised that Verstappen gets yet another penalty even though he already had one last weekend. I don't really understand why Red Bull was not replacing that part also during the last weekend to just get 1 penalty on 1 weekend instead of 2 in a row now.
Still position 7 for Verstappen is still OK for him i would say. He can easily finish the race on the podium this way and his lead in the championship is already so big that I don't think Leclerc can do everything about that anymore. So Verstappen just needs to finish every race and he is fine.

This is the current look of the odds for the win.

Leclerc had an odd like 7.00 before so I hope that many people were able to take advantage of the chance. Because he has a significant chance to win this race after that qualifying performance. Of course I know that qualifying and race are different things. Durable cars are needed for races. However I still think this race will be different for Ferrari. This time they shouldn't have durability problems. In this case Verstappen has a very difficult task to overtake Leclerc. So far he has been way faster than Leclerc indeed but they might change roles here.

By the way Verstappen is starting at the 7th position not 4th. It has been changed one last time and this is the final decision. But of course he wouldn't have much problem on overtaking all the cars ahead of him until staying alone with Leclerc on the front.

Yes but the odd is deceiving and very little for Verstappen.I know he is a great driver and he starts 7th with cars ahead of him not at a great performance but until he passes all of them Leclerc has all the time needed to create the gap and keep Verstappen distant in a range where he cannot use DRS which is his strongest weapon in a track like this.

Leclerc did an awesome lap yesterday and got pole without caring much that Verstappen had already a penalty grid,it showed awesome pace which I think it will be the same even in the race that starts just 2 hours from now and I can't wait as it will be a very interesting one to watch.

So the smart people are those who have already bet on him at odd 7 but also the ones who bet with an odd now of over 2 is great again.

Congratulations to Toprak for winning today's Superpole Race at the WSBK event. The race was really fierce where Alvaro Bautista, who started the race in fourth position, was able to race forward and Jonathan Rea with Toprak gave him pressure by continuing to stick and chasing Alvaro Bautista in several sectors that required hard braking.
And the result was extraordinary for Toprak because the race this time was really fierce and tense from start to finish.

Leclerc has all the possibility to get away from Max in the opening laps and it should do so as I think Russell is not that easy to overtake, probably at race pace they would be somewhat better than qualifying and Leclerc needs just 5-7 laps to put a good gap to Verstappen, keep it all the race as we saw the new upgrade worked really well in the straights and the top speed of Leclerc was nearly 350 Km/h which is a big one,of course everything has to run smoothly, from the start of Leclerc, creating a gap and maintaining it together with the most fragile part of the equation or the team at the pit stops, only this can assure a Ferrari win and I am highly confident it will happen tomorrow.

Don't think so.

RBR has the best DRS on the grid and the DRS is the most important thing in Monza.

Keep also in mind the wake effect on this track is OMEGA powerful, even if you are 2 seconds ahead the car behind will have a cleaner air and earn speed.
