This is the race where there should be no reaction to Ferrari's prioritization of Sainz. He took pole yesterday, so he became the priority man for Ferrari today. Today he managed the whole race very well, especially with his drs strategy at the end. Kudos to him, he deserved this win. finally we got the ferrari win. It was by far the most entertaining and exciting race of the season. Mercedes gambled by pitting and closed the 14 second gap by accelerating by 2 seconds every lap. Sainz deliberately slowed down so that the mercedes would not approach and took norris within drs distance. You like sainz or not, but he handled the last 5 laps of the race very well, especially the last 5 laps of the race on flat tires.

He deserved the win for sure.

About the most entertaining race of the season, depends.
We went in good races in the past too but with rain and a lot of overtakes.

This one was for sure the most tactical we got, but here is almost impossible to overtake.

We go in another race where is difficult to overtake too so in there who starts first also wins the race if there are no complications. We have to see and if Ferrari wins again it means that the car has received much needed upgrades that is showing of now in the race results,we need a team who can face Redbull,no matter which team is it is great to have a new winner like we had today after 14 races dominated by Redbull we have a new team winner,a Ferrari first win for 2023.

The Suzuka track will also point out if Redbull is really suffering or this race was just a mistake in the setup of their car which I highly believe to not have been the case.

Leclerc was sacrificed to favor Sainz win and in the end Ferrari was right because they won the race as the end result. The Safety Car was a super big help for Sainz in this race as it was timed perfectly before the top guys were to enter pit stop anyway and this was a big unlucky moment for Redbull.

I agree though,Redbull looked more like a normal car during today race and next race we will have our answer, even if FIA made this change to regulations to stop Redbull unfortunately only 7 or 8 races remain which does not do any harm to Redbull campaign anyway for this season at least.

Well was necessary.

If Leclerc waited 1 more lap without the double pit he was entering in last position.

I've seen nothing wrong there.

Finally we have a race to see, in terms of fight for the win.

The most shamefull thing was the crash of Russel, this its gonna cost him a lot inside the team, he cant overtake Norris and make the team lose the chance of win the race, and also managed to crash in the last lap, making with that lose a ton of secured points to the team.

The most entertaining race of the season so far and if the remaining races will be like this one , we are set in for an epic end of the season where from 2nd to 4th place in constructors championship anything can happen as McLaren , Ferrari and Mercedes are fighting for this spots and maybe , Aston Martin will be back to fight with them as well even if they kinda screwed their car with latest updates...

It was best race of season without any doubts. How Sainz used Norris as his back wing and letting him to be in DRS zone and help to keep both Mercedes behind was simply genius. I agree with post above that Ferrari had to sacrifice Leclerc. It's popular to mock Ferrari strategy, but I'm not really sure that was possible for Lecler to finish 2nd.
Russel crash, I don't reallly know what to say - one moment you fight for the win, next you crash into wall.
Lawson earned first career points today and it was serious statement to get seat in F1 for next season.

Wow, that Red Bull car looked slow today. It could have been the ruling made by the FIA that somewhat sent them back. Well, it's about damn time for F1 to be interesting again and not utter "another Red Bull win" whenever a race is happening.

Anyway, Sainz looked clean on taking the win today, and I feel like Ferrari is slowly favoring him to be the main driver with Leclerc being the supporting one. Understandable given the circumstances on this particular race, though not sure in the next races to come. And for Russel, I feel for the guy. Last lap and everything went to shambles for them.

Good control of the race for Sainz.
Leclerc got unlucky with the safety car otherwise it was an easy 1-2.

Next week we will have the answer, if Redbull is slow then the change made from FIA, nerfed them.

Quite interesting to see this type of result but it was a refreshing thing, I believe that we really needed something like this to make people watch races again. I do not really know what happened that made Red Bull this bad today, I mean some of the strategies didn't align with SC and VSC which could be understandable but they were really really bad today, the pace was nowhere near the other cars and made it look a bit different. In any case, I do not think that they will be like this for the rest of the season, and not like it would really matter, even if it is, Max will be the champion anyway, worst case would be not getting more records and nothing more.

We finally got to watch a real race without RB. We want to see this competition. In the last round, 4 vehicles competed for first place. We missed this excitement.
It was a huge disappointment for Russell. Norris defended well and took second place. Hamilton was fastest of the day. And Sainz eventually won the race in which he started first. Sainz made a huge strategic right thing by giving Norris the opportunity to use DRS and finished the race with dead tyres. If this tactic hadn't been used, Mercedes would probably have passed him. As a result, we watched an amazing race. I wish the races were always this competitive and exciting.

The best thing of all this race was the Mercedes race engineer of Russell in the early stages of the race which said explicitly what happened and the radio message was "It looks like Ferrari is trying to sacrifice Leclerc" and they did so for real. They at least by doing so won the race today much different from Monza and Sainz was very smart to give DRS to Norris to protect himself in the later stages of the race from the two Mercedes cars.Mercedes on the other hand did not do what Ferrari usually does, they did not let Hamilton go through despite him being 0.8 seconds faster than Russell otherwise we would have seen an even more beautiful ending to the race.

Ferrari or Mercedes finish as expected from the start but what an unfortunate turn of events for Russell. I didn't watch the whole race and was wondering what happened to Leclerc. I didn't expect him to fall 20 secs behind Sainz. Was it a pitstop miscalculation?

Hmmm..  Now wishing I went through with my prediction and made the bet on Leclerc to finish on the podium at 3.95.  :/  He's running the softs right now and might do a one stop and go for the hards.  Dunno...  But it looks like he's gonna finish second or third at least.  He'd be lucky to win it but Sainz seems faster.

Edit:  Leclerc was just on the radio and said that Sainz looks like he's slowing down.  Interesting to see how the Ferrari plays this beyond lap 20.  Would be funny if they botch it and get somebody else to finish first.  Cheesy Cheesy

Edit:  LOL FERRARI.
You didn't miss anything apparently.

I was really expectant about Verstappen's performance. I expected him to take pole position but he couldn't even get near that level. He was quite frustrated after Q2 finished. He was really nearly getting a grid penalty also but he must be relieved about not getting any. Because he was under investigation for 3 different actions if I'm not mistaken.

Now there are only 40 minutes to go for the race. Honestly I hope to see a win by Ferrari finally. It would be a huge morale boost for him if Leclerc win the race. He has potential I'm wondering his tempo against Sainz and Russell.

Finally we can watch an enjoyable race without a huge domination by Verstappen - hopefully.  Grin
The race will most likely end with a winner from Ferrari or Mercedes unless rain starts pouring heavily. You don't normally see changes when racing conditions are good like in a dry race so I doubt Verstappen could manage. It will take a monumental error from other team's driver or pitstops for either of the Red Bull duo to finish in a podium.

I could say that its going to be quite difficult to point this out since most people care about other stuff but Haas had a great weekend so far. Yes, Max not being in Q3 is the biggest news of the week and everyone will talk about that, but the improvement on Ferrari spilled over to Haas as well which tells me that it could be an engine thing as well. If ferrari did it all by themselves then I would have guessed it was something else, but Haas, a team that doesn't even really have enough money to keep being a team, ended up being in top 10 with both cars at the same time, when was the last time this happened? It must be an engine improvement for sure.

I was really not expecting Red Bull drivers to perform this badly honestly. Even Verstappen couldn't qualify for Q3. He was already signaling that the qualifying would be really challenging for them but this was too much. I thought both drivers would be in Q3 but maybe none of them would manage to take pole position at worst.

If we see some rain during the race as well then things can get even more interesting. I expect Red Bull drivers to climb many places but I'm not sure about winning the race. Verstappen is getting close to having another poor race in Singapore for now.

As I was saying some days ago FIA can change the rules whenever they want.
This weekend they changed a rule for the control of the deflection of the wings, RBR needed to change them and we got bad results.

The next GP we will know if they removed the dominance of the RBR or if it was just a case.

And yes it was a grey area used mostly by RBR.

Of course FIA does not like such huge dominance as most people will stop watching races when they know that only one team is winning all the races and this translates to losing a lot of money for FIA and also a lot of prestige as one of the most prestigious sports in the world.I don't think though that with a single move FIA to be smart enough to stop Redbull even if the strength of Redbull came from such only one point in this grey area,I think that Redbull is strong overall and most likely they will adjust to the new regulations of the FIA.For tomorrow though Max is not hopeful at all for a good race.
