Same here, while wait to new cards, my 5700 and even my 1660 super are doing very good profits

I'm still looking for a 3080, but it looks like we'll have AMD cards to buy before any nvidia
For us living outside US is even harder to get cards on launch, the first ones came by air and costs more

With all this situation about coronavirus and lack of supply, mining giving some profits again, people are in homes and building PCs, it's almost impossible to get one and at a decent price, better use our hardware we already have  Cheesy

If big navi do 90mh at 150 watts would be awesome, but we can still mine with our cards

I have reached the point of almost no more mobo space.

but i do have room for Eight or nine cards

I have never seen a good launch 🚀 from amd or nvidia as both simply don’t hand out a lot of cards.

I have 20 sites to find nvidia 3000 cards zero have had a card for me.

i am sure the new amd will be the same.

Most likely they won’t be available, but if i can get either

blower style rx 6800xt or gtx 3080

I will get a few.

While we wait for the 6800xt my 5700xt are paying off about 1 dollar a day.

my
July ones say July 15 to oct 24 = 100 days.    100 x 1.50 = 150
Aug ones say Aug 15 to Oct 24 = 69 days.      69 x 1.50 =. 103.50
Sep ones say Sept 15 to Oct 24 = 38 days      38 x  1.25 =.  47.50
Oct one say    Oct 3   to Oct 24 = 21 days       21 x 1 = 21

say they were 375 each after tax

so

July 375-150        =  225.      I know if I listed these at 300 they would sell and I would profit around 300-225 = 75- 20 to ship  so 55 bucks
Aug. 375 -103.50 =  271.50   these would be  300-271.50= 28.50-20 to ship so 8.50 bucks

no big navi for 30 to 50 days

so my july card. improves to 105 dollar profit
my aug card improves to 58.50 profit

I don't have much downside unless the big navi is way way way better then the 5700xt

say 90mh at 150 watts and costs 400 and can be found easy peasy.

How often do you find that much improvement?

I earned back 132 since weds 3 days
if it holds that is 1320 in 30 days ----------- this is key sentence

So far I paid off 2100 usd
I have .16  btc I am hodling
Am I exposed  yes a bit

I need to make at least 40 a day for 100 days and coins hold at 13000. Then I am fully in black.

My power is cheap so not much issue on profits of some kind

AMD has a perfect opportunity to pair or outperform Nvidia - this launch is very important and they need to win market share with gamers. Nvidia clearly was pressed with this launch; using samsung, large tdp, paper launch (basically). RDNA2 will very likely be power efficient...AMD is going to have their hands full balancing miners and gamers

that is why i didn't recommend getting 5700xt, if the new amd cards pair with 3080 performance you'll have old tech cards LOL.

I still see 2x 5700xt as a better choice then 1x 3080

but marginally.

Basically I can find and buy 5700xt for 360usd plus tax.

If I could get the blower style 3080 in a few days I could pay 650 plus tax.

as i can get ten percent off newegg. but the problem is I cant get those 3080s anyplace.

Since i am making 1 dollar or so profit on the 5700xt and have mined them for over sixty days. many days i made 2 dollars on them. so 70 x 1.50 is 105 .  so if i paid 385-105= 270

vs zero earned or spent  since no 3080 to buy.

At current rate my cards will pay off in jan or feb.

the 3000 series clearly is not more efficient
the 3000 series would be cheaper per mh if I could have purchased them.

so for now mine with what i got.

i mean 5700xt vs 6800xt, it was around a month ago when i say that..even if you can say 2x 5700xt is better than 1x 3080. 6800xt is just around 1 month away...now what if 6800xt is at par with 3080 or with negligible inferiority?

there is no problem if you can easily sell and replace 5700xt but if not...well..you cannot win all the months in earning but you can prepare for more months or years to come Wink

6800xt is only a month away for launch. Then the cards needs to be shipped to you (except local stores like Microcenter which are a rarity these days). Then you have to hope you have stable drivers and that the mining software will mine on the card. Then you need to wait another month to 3 months for BIOS tweaks and optimal settings to be flushed out. The virus might temper holiday shopping demand, but probably not for video cards.

Well I am still near 40-50 usd a day.

I would buy 1 3080 and 1 6700. if I could find them.

I SEE it much the same as you do.

Nvidia rtx 3000 series was a ghost launch

From what I've been reading the AMD launch going to be similar, apparently not much stock.

That being said though I sent back my 5700XT's I just bought, going to wait and see how the next waves perform.

I don't think it's going to be that bad, as AMD is also launching their CPU lines.   With that being said, i don't think the GPU in stock won't make it til the next day, but won't be sold out before doors open... hopefully... finger's crossed  Grin Grin

I'll be in line.  I think the AMD 6XXX series will still be easier to get hands on than the NV30XX series.  Shocked

Some news, AMD are afraid of miners buying all the cards again, like Vega and Radeon VII  Cheesy

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-navi-10-blockchain-gpu-cryptomining

They want to prevent gamers not being able to buy cards, like RTX 3080
Personally I don't like these mining cards, less warranty, less outputs and hard to resell

The reason why AMD and Nvidia do this is to protect their 2nd hand GPUs to holding value when there is a massive influx of used GPUs all over Facebook marketplace, eBay and Craigslist. Imagine all the 4GB GPUs that are going to hit the market in 1-2 months when you can no longer mine ETH with them. Gamers will be smart and figure they might as well buy 2x RX 570 4GB rather than buy a new GPU for triple the price for same performance.

Obviously gamers will never buy these mining type of GPUs. Basically the output is going to be an issue and the fact that they were obviously mined in the past will scare most gamers from purchasing. Hence they will typically be sold from miners to miners without interfering with the mainstream gamers market.

Miners did not buy out the 3080’s

and mining cards suck. I don't want them or buy them.

Edit:

Coins are picking up ETH is over 417

yesterday's rallies were good. my gpus are close to 50 a day or 1500 a month.

I held all gpu mining nicehash to btc since July.

I cashed in 1000 usd yesterday
Still holding most of mining coins.

If we stay at 50 a day profit for me. The new gear will pay off by Jan or Feb.

If I hodl coins and btc moves past 16k I will pay gear off faster.

In the past, everytime i was ready to sell off my gpus, it was the perfect time to scale up.

unfortunately i don't feel that way yet, so still more pain to come  Cheesy

This is a paradox of GPU mining. Cards are cheapest when there is no reason to mine and expensive when mining is rewarding. People who make out the best are those who buy cards when it's not worth mining and then mine on those cards, or even resell those cards when prices go up. 4GB RX 480s going for $170 used on eBay last month was a perfect opportunity to exit with 4GB cards. Now with the next gen NAVI cards coming out those rx cards should finally drop below $100.

It still hanging in there.

I am  thinking diff will drop maybe not like a rock but twenty percent drop could happen.

The navi may not be a big deal if they use a ton of power.

I can see the 5700, still being a decent card.

The 5700 is a great card. It's great for ETH and it is also best bang for the buck gaming in midrange as long as you're not getting black screens from AMD driver issues. I heard that the 5700XT production was put on hold so that RX6xxx could be ramped up. I don't know the veracity of those claims, but heard it on Moore's Law is Dead. Perhaps there will be a rebadged 5700XT in the 6xxx lineup that will basically be the same card but with support for direct access and HDMI 2.0 output for 4K.

The 470-480. Were very close to the 570-580

I am hoping the navi does 60-65 and pulls more power.
